Welcome to your dream vacation home on Bald Head Island. Just a few short blocks to South Beach, ''Sandy Cheeks" offers the perfect combination of sophistication and comfort surrounded by the natural beauty of the Maritime Forest. The opportunity for friends and family to relax privately in this home is unparalleled. With a bedroom/bathroom suite and a living area on each floor of the main house, everyone can enjoy their own space. Invite more guests without hesitation and hand them the keys to the guest house. Take a dip in the saltwater chlorinated pool and relax on the newly renovated deck.

The pool has a heater, and can be heated upon request with 48 hours advance notice. Please note that exterior pool heaters may not be consistently operational during your stay if the outside temperature falls below 50 degrees.

The main house offers an open floor plan with a stunning living room with soaring ceilings, a generous dining area and a XL kitchen all lit up by the sun streaming in from the floor to ceiling windows that allows you to savor the pool and outdoor living area. The chef’s kitchen boasts plenty of counter space, stainless steel oversized appliances, butler pantry, wine and coffee bar and a breakfast counter that seats 6.

If alfresco is your fancy, step out onto the broad back deck and find your space among the multiple lounge areas, full outdoor kitchen and firepits. Lounge, sun, or picnic by your own exclusive, secluded saltwater swimming pool.

The upper floor of the main house provides an oversize sectional and offers plenty of seating for conversation, movie-watching, or game-playing, and large screen tv. If you must work from home while on vacation, we make it easier with ample desks and office space. Two private suites in the main house have king beds and indulgent spa like baths.

The guest house will keep your family members and guests very happy with two light-filled Queen bedroom suites also with pampering baths. Enjoy the private balcony with both a screen and open porch overlooking the treetops and live oaks. A sitting area/bedroom with new sleeper sofa all connect to a kitchenette for early morning coffee or late-night snacks. This guest house will become everyone’s favorite place for privacy and quiet time while remaining connected to the pool and main house.

*To enhance your vacation even more, you will have the opportunity to purchase a temporary membership to either or both the BHI Club and the Shoals Club. Club Memberships are optional and costs are separate and not included in the rental of the home. We cannot guarantee availability of a membership.

*Please note that exterior pool heaters may not be consistently operational during your stay if the outside temperature falls below 50 degrees.

*There are two security cameras located on the exterior of the home that cover the driveway and side entrance. There are also security cameras facing the pool area for insurance purposes and may be turned off at your request during your stay. Use of the pool and swimming is at your own risk.

*Homes with fireplaces are deactivated for the safety of the home and guests.

*We cannot guarantee the condition or availability of any bikes that may come with the home.

Great house for families!

We loved our stay- the house and pool were beautiful and in an ideal, private location. The management was highly responsive and brought us everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked with up to date, clean materials and dish ware. The crofter was good but the TV didn’t work and one of the showers never turned on- definitely needs attention. But would definitely stay here again!

Sandy Cheeks was a lovely, well equipped home. The kitchen was fabulous and all the spaces cozy. The few minor issues we had (normal for a beach stay) were addressed and resolved quickly. It was a great BHI home, especially for people with older children, hopefully will be back next year!

Beautiful home and pool, lovely finishes and cabinetry, very well stocked kitchen supplies. The two large primary suites were for our 2 couples travelling with their babies and they were wonderful rooms. That left the other two bedrooms (in the crofter) for the grandparents and another adult couple. With the crofter beds pushed against the side wall of the bedroom and only one nightstand in those rooms, the crofter bedrooms were a little tight for 4 adults.The main house does have a couple steps between several areas which might not be great for toddlers or elderly. We LOVED the outdoor terrace and pool and used it a lot! The mid-island location was super convenient, the property manager was very responsive with small glitches (normal stuff), and we enjoyed the architecture of the home and its art.

Thank you so much for our wonderful stay at your beautiful property!! You were so accommodating regarding our ferry times and early arrival/departures, and we are extremely grateful. I wasn’t in the guest house, so I’ll speak to the main home. This home was so beautiful! It was so easy for everyone to be in one central location, if we wanted. Whether it was playing Cards Against Humanity at the table, or watching a movie on the amazing couch upstairs. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals. We spent most of our time in the pool, where my family decided the volley ball net ends resembled some human anatomy. So, any time one of us left the house, the net was placed in that person’s shower. It was a funny time. Above all, we had a wonderful family vacation and thank you!

We loved the pool and outdoor space, as it gave us a way to cool off and play, but felt secluded and peaceful. Having the crofter space allowed us to have some family and friends come visit for a few nights, while giving them their own space. Tyler & Barbara are fantastic property managers- extremely quick to respond and help with questions/requests. We love BHI and now that we’ve found Sandy Cheeks agreed we can’t “downgrade” to another home next year- we’ll be back!

The kitchen was well stocked and full of high-end appliances with a beautiful wine cooler. The pool gave us hours of fun, had lots of seating and shade on the far side. This was our first time in 11 years staying in the woods away from the beach. While it was a quick drive to get to the water, it’s the only reason I gave location 4 stars, missing the ocean view.

It is extremely close to the beach, but also feels very private and serene because there are a lot of trees surrounding the house. I would book this place for the master bathroom alone, the shower was an entire room! The house has a lot of entertainment rooms and TVs, and wifi was strong in all areas of the house. The kitchen is spacious and has all the cabinets, utensils, and cooking equipment you could need if you are planning to bring some groceries and cook meals during your stay. It also has multiple large desks if you have to get work done. The pool was a huge hit and enabled us to swim, grill, and lounge outside together making for some really enjoyable laid-back nights. Tyler and Barbara took care of every question we had and even brought us toothbrushes our first night when we realized a few us forgot to pack them. We will definitely be returning next year!
