About this property

Doolittle Mountain Cabin River View w/Free Biltmore Pass and more

Enjoy FREE activities every day with Pete Key Properties, including Biltmore, Skiing, Rock Wall, Zipline, Whitewater Rafting, Trampoline Park, and Timber Axe Throwing.

Get the full mountain experience at Doolittle Mountain Cabin, a charming wooded retreat on 30 acres of land with several private hiking trails. The view and sound of the adjacent French Broad River is breathtaking, and you can enjoy it from the front porch or while relaxing in the hot tub.

Perched high atop a private ridge, the home offers tranquil privacy. Yet it is only a 15 minute drive from Weaverville shops and restaurants. Discover downtown Asheville, only a 25 minute drive, with its eclectic variety of breweries, music, shopping, and fantastic restaurants.

The welcoming living room showcases soaring ceilings, exposed wood beams, and views of the French Broad River. Hardwood flooring flows throughout the open-concept space, detailed with a 50 inch TV, gas fireplace, sofa, and recliners.

Enjoy home cooking in the fully equipped kitchen with a countertop bar for four. Then gather the group at the wood dining table set for six.

The upper level master suite boasts a queen bed, private balcony, river views, and an en-suite bath with shower/tub combination. Just outside this bedroom is a loft seating area with two queen futons, (sleeps four children), direct bathroom access and a 42 inch TV with a DVD and VHS player (no cable).

The main level bedroom features a queen bed with crisp linens and plush pillows. The bathroom boasts a glass door shower and a jetted tub. There is a pocket door that can be pulled shut to make this bedroom a private suite. Otherwise the bathroom on the main level is accessible to the living area.

The lower level bedroom offers two twin beds, and the lower level bathroom is equipped with a shower/tub combination.

Fire up the outdoor grill and dine on the covered front porch with a six-seat table. After dinner, dip in the hot tub in the backyard gazebo, and come together at the firepit to toast marshmallows. Or pack your best hiking shoes and enjoy a scenic hike on the private hiking trails.

Set on a hilltop overlooking the French Broad River, this rental cabin offers the perfect blend of quiet seclusion and close proximity to area attractions. Access the river at Blannahassett Community Center and Island Park, approximately 4 miles north. Walnut Park is 4.5 miles south down the river, and you can use their river access to put your rafts, tubes and kayaks in the river.

Historic Marshall is about three miles away (a five-minute drive) and features your pick of quaint cafes and diners, like Sweet Monkey Cafe and Zuma Coffee House. Check out local art at Flow Art Gallery, and enjoy the riverside serenity at Walnut Island River Park. Check out Madco Micro Brewery (Madison County's first microbrewerery) and the Marshall Cafe are some other attractions.

A bit further afield, check out Weaverville shops and restaurants (11.3 miles away). The Biltmore House, Grove Park Inn, breweries (Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, and Highland) and downtown Asheville's vibrant arts scene are all within a 25-minute drive. Other activities in the area include hiking on The Appalachian Trail, horseback riding, white water rafting and zip-lining.

Convenient grocery shopping is located at Ingles grocery store, only 4 miles away, and we are only about 30 minutes from the airport.

Parking notes: You’ll find parking for four vehicles in the driveway. Please note that the driveway is steep and has two sharp switchbacks. We have only one security camera, and it is pointed at the lower level entrance.

We are so excited to host your visit! The Pete Key Properties team welcomes you and is here to help create a memorable experience. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need anything at all. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Nice Home with a Killer View
Six of us gathered for a long weekend. After a steep approach via the driveway, we were treated to a comfortable, nicely appointed house with a killer view. We each had a bed, with three bedrooms and a couple of extra and decent futons. We had a good time and I would happily visit again.
