About this property

Luxurious Downtown Townhouse

The Townhouse at McMinnville, a former early 1900's retail establishment, is thoughtfully and tastefully brought into the 21st century with every modern amenity. Crisp and loft-like in design yet highlighting and enhancing the charming details of its past. Exposed handmade brick walls, airy high ceilings, beautiful woodwork and staircase, original pine floors beautifully worn by thousands of footsteps to a soft golden patina.

Superbly suited for families, or extended families gathering for special functions, offering lots of room to gather, or to find a quiet private space. Or perhaps you just want a unique and unusual home base to explore the spectacular options that McMinnville, as the gateway to the South Cumberland Mountains, the rivers, the Caney, the Barren, and the Collins, offers!

Most importantly is the location of this unusual and beautiful home. One block off the gorgeous McMinnville Town square, McMinnville is the quintessential Southern Town, and delivers true Southern Hospitality, while offering a beautifully revitalized and historic Main Street historic district just superb for walking! Our little city led the way in town and village revitalization movements here in Tennessee that began a decade ago, they truly set the bar high!

You will find that you are walking distance from outstanding restaurants, quaint antique shops, the beautifully landscaped public square with beautiful benches, and the restored 100-year-old fountain that is the main focal point of the square (a must see at night!), as well as the historic district of lovely old buildings and homes. McMinnville is known for our fabulous churches; they are truly architectural gems! All within walking distance!

Our town is safe and is especially lovely to stroll in the district at night, where the fountain and public square are a feast for the eye!

These amenities are within walking distance or with short drives, your world is filled with diverse and wonderful activity. Want to float a river? Smooth Rapids can do that and take you on a tour of waterfalls by kayak or canoe! Want to tour the second longest cave in Tennessee? Cumberland Caverns can do that! Want to see a professionally presented play or concert? The restored Park theatre is renowned for both concerts and plays and is just a short walk from your elegant townhome. And all summer long our wonderful town offers the public 'Music in the Park', a free series with outstanding acts every weekend! Need something for the kiddos? The amazing Pepper Park, located within the city of McMinnville offers a super playground complete with climbing wall and is the trailhead for the beautiful 1.8 mi loop greenway that follows the tumbling and picturesque Barren Fork River, just FIVE minutes’ drive (or 20-minute walk) from your home base! See beautifully naturalized wildflowers and rock formations in the shadow of the historic railroad trestle over the river, and the kids can play along the shoreline. The 1902 dam, originally built for hydroelectric power, still causes the river water to flow over in a lovely display of whitewater. Want to fish? Oodles of opportunities, bank fishing along the river is very productive as well as for hire fishing tours! Want to hike and hunt waterfalls? State Parks with varied assets are just 20- 30 minutes away offering mountain hiking, incredible waterfalls, and overlooks into deep and dramatic gorges! Antiquing your thing? Quaint and well stocked vintage and antique shops abound downtown! Visit Falcon Rest mansion and gardens, the unusual retreat (open to public) ISHA for incredible mountain meditation, Deep Bottom Brewery, a craft brewery with tours and tastings. Our farmer's market, just a few minutes’ walk, is one of the best in our state, so don't miss it!

And don't forget, Beersheba Springs, a short, incredibly scenic drive to the top of the South Cumberland Mountains, where the entire village is on the National Historic Register, has a walking tour, and hosts the amazing trailhead, The Great Stone Door, at the newest state park, Savage Gulf State Park. A week won't be enough time to catch it all!

This outstanding blend of new and old features a beautiful expansive kitchen with everything you need for creating meals for a large family, an elegant dining room that seats 8 comfortably, and a large living area with large TV. Fabulous private theatre room with outstanding acoustics and seating for a crowd! Three bedrooms, with the master suite right out of Gone with the Wind, complete with private jacuzzi tub! Full sized washer and dryer for those who would like an extended stay!

If you've ever wanted to see what life was like when walking brought you everywhere, and you want to do it in style, in a historic building that is beautifully crafted, The Townhouse of McMinnville is YOUR choice destination for relaxation and endless recreational opportunities!"

Quirky but fun
A small family group - my husband, brother, sister and her two young adult children - were in McMinnville for our mom’s 80th birthday. Knowing we would spend most of our time at our parents home, we took a chance on The Townhouse, despite the lack of reviews. It is, as my title says, quirky but fun. First, it was scrupulously clean. Astoundingly so, for a historic building. All amenities were provided, most brand new. The beds were comfortable, although we were glad we brought our own pillows. And the showers were amazing - good water pressure and plentiful hot water, even with six adults. The quirky - the master bedroom is huge, with that fabulous soaking tub and a separate shower and dressing area. The other bedrooms are off of the theater room, which is where the two pull-out couches are. You have to go through the theater room to get to the bathroom in the hall. So if you, like us, have a bunch of single adults, two of whom are sleeping on the sofa beds, make sure you’re okay with a slight lack of privacy. We were all family, so we just made it work. We didn’t cook much, but could have. The kitchen was very nice. We also didn’t hang out there much, but honestly, that would probably be the best part about the rental - lots of spaces for people to hang out separately for movie watching, games, or conversation, including the living room, dining room, kitchen, theater room, and another little den by the garage.
