Tatenda, like many villas along South Sound, East End & Rum Point, have shallow beach entries with silt and seagrass. Waist high water for swimming is approx. 50-75 away from the beach/shore. South Sound can also experience the same seasonal sargassum that affects most of the Caribbean. Sargassum is a generally harmless floating, red seagrass that is more unsightly than anything. Fortunately, the Seven Mile Beach area (SMB) of Grand Cayman does not ordinarily see sargassum accumulation. All beaches in Cayman are public up to the high-water mark so guests can visit the beautiful beach areas along SMB for sandy, walk-in swimming. If sargassum impacts your stay, Governor's Beach or Smith Cove are excellent beaches to visit and have ample parking and sandy, walk-in swimming.
