About this property

Tropical Waterfront Home Historically Preserved-The Citrus Isles, Ft. Lauderdale

In the early days of South Florida’s development, circa 1957, our grandmother purchased this property housed in one of the first neighborhoods built outside of downtown Ft. Lauderdale and locally known as The Citrus Isles. Step back in time within this sought after neighborhood when Ft. Lauderdale was a sleepy bedroom community to Miami. A taste of authentic Florida charm awaits you in our mid-century home built for wintertime getaways on a deep-water canal flowing into Ft. Lauderdale’s cherished New River and Intercoastal with easy ocean access.

Although tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood that once housed retirees and snowbirds, this magical respite now provides quick easy access to shopping, restaurants, lounges, parks, boating, fishing, downtown Fort Lauderdale, the interstate, the airport, Miami, professional sports arenas, marinas; and most importantly, Ft. Lauderdale’s infamous BEACH is less than five miles away-a good jog, bike ride, or very short car ride. As the real estate slogan goes, “location-location-location”; and that we have in abundance!

Spend time relaxing in the backyard on an awning covered patio overlooking the water and built with authentic imported Cuban tiles; or, have a wonderful hammock experience hanging under coconut palm trees. Enjoy South Florida sunshine with your morning coffee or barbeque on the built-in grill for some island style cooking served in the outside dining area. Inside you’ll find 1,400 square feet of open living space and a great layout with large picture windows overlooking water that provides a continuous calming serenity. Period details like restored terrazzo floors and original bathroom fixtures and tiles in colors from a bygone era provide an abundance of authentic tropical character. Our Historically Preserved Property has been modernized with Central AC and modern-day appliances while preserving the integrity of its original architecture. Original jalousie windows showcase throughout the house and have been lovingly cared for to provide picturesque views of the outside tropical environment. The jalousies continue to be very functional and serve as a reminder of when homes were built for hurricanes while providing great cross-ventilation throughout the house. Original Hunter Ceiling Fans in every room keep you comfortable with or without AC and allow for a beach day experience in South Florida’s famous Tropical environment without returning to AC chill-down in a wet swimsuit. The fully furnished kitchen provides everything needed to whip up meals or snacks, and there’s room to serve everyone around the beautiful dining room setting, kitchen counter, or outside while enjoying South Florida’s magical weather. You’ll be living like a true South Florida local and not boxed inside a condo removed from the Tropical environment that you came to enjoy!

After a day of exploring, enjoy the cushy living room sectional with its big screen TV or one of the bedroom TV’s; or, relax to music played on the wireless Sonos smart speaker. You can also escape into the private office area beautifully furnished with desk, printer, free wi-fi, and a sofa-bed.

We have created our property to mimic a personalized small boutique styled hotel and to be an oasis away from all the hustle and bustle while providing a true vacation experience. Watch a great movie on one of the several high-end large screen TV’s or enjoy a game of chess or checkers on the provided marble game board. Enjoy the evening in the backyard relaxing under the stars or café lights while listening to magical wind chimes and toasting your wise choice to book our slice of Authentic Florida Charm.

We proudly introduce our lovingly preserved and luxury appointed Tropical Home at a low introductory rate for a very limited time. We welcome you to experience it and enjoy it just as we did with our grandmother, Rose, long ago.

The house was very comfortable, not fancy, just basic, but nice and a good place to stay.
