About this property

Copper Penny Barn on Round Lake

This 1918 barn and addition have been thoughtfully and lovingly restored and renovated to preserve and enhance its vintage character and charm, while providing all of the modern day amenities. This 3 bedroom, 3 bath lake home will make your vacation one to remember!

Copper Penny Barn overlooks 120 ft of private, level shoreline and a spectacular view of the lake.

Round Lake is a small, quiet, private sand bottom lake. This location is truly the best of both worlds!
Enjoy peace and tranquility relaxing on the dock, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming and evenings around the bonfire. **THERE IS NO PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH ON ROUND LAKE** For a change of pace, within minutes you can be launching your boat on Otter Tail Lake or floating down the River. Zorbaz on the lake, Beach Bums Bar and Grill and the Corner store are all within walking distance.

There are 3 spacious bedrooms, 2 with King size beds (the primary also has a twin bed for a child) and the 3rd with a Queen and 2 Double beds. Our license, however, limits us to a MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY OF 10 GUESTS and no extra overnight guests or daytime visitors as imposed by the county ordinance. This is non-negotiable.

The fully equipped kitchen has been outfitted to prepare and serve everyday family meals to large holiday feasts. The 11 ft long dining table will accommodate your entire group.

A separate coffee/bar area has ample glass and barware and small appliances including a drip coffee maker, Keurig, tea kettle, ice maker, blender and more. There is also a secondary fridge for beverages and extras.

The larger bathroom has a communal area with a 3 faucet sink, 2 private toilets and 2 private showers (1 with a tub). The 2nd bathroom has a claw foot tub/ shower, toilet and a the original vintage sink. There is direct access to this bathroom from outside for convenience.

The 242 sq ft loft has a comfortable seating area for reading or playing cards and board games. There are all kinds of books, playing cards and board games for guests to enjoy.

The main living area is a cozy space with seating, an electric fireplace and 40" smart TV. There are 2 single size pull out beds for a couple of extra heads. There is also an adorable reading nook under the stairs that kids will love!

The screen porch provides a larger gathering area for enjoying lake views in a breezy, bug free space.

There are several outdoor seating areas including outdoor dining, sun loungers, and Adirondack chairs on the patio, around the fire pit and lakeside.

Built in seating on the dock provides more room for fishing, catching rays and fun on the water.

Guests have free use of kayaks, paddle boards, Lilly pad and yard games.

Round Lake has a variety of fish including Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, Rock Bass, Walleye and several species of Bullhead.
Try your luck fishing from the dock or shore or take your boat over to the larger Otter Tail Lake for the day. At almost 14,000 acres, 21 sq mi and a maximum depth of 120ft, Otter Tail is the 10th largest lake in Minnesota and known for it's Walleye and Pike fishing. The majority of the lake is 15 ft or less in depth which makes it perfect for boating and water sports.

Wrap up the day gathered around the bonfire overlooking the lake, munching on 's'mores and creating lasting memories.

Girls week-end

Awesome place to stay! Copper Penny Barn is just pristine, from the decore, the cleanliness, a well stocked kitchen to a super host who let us have an early check-in & told us to take our time checking out. We are hoping to come back next year!

What a breeze!

Everything worked out really well- easy communication, pretty setting, gorgeous home, no detail overlooked in the lovely decor or convenience of kitchen and other rooms. Felt right at home immediately. Can walk to restaurants as well as have an easy drive into Battle Lake. Abundance of comfortable conversation areas with friends and you can feel the “soul” of the old barn. Lake was beautiful- some of our crew enjoyed kayaking. S’mores were fun each night. Will miss sitting on the Adirondack chairs & closing my eyes to feel the breeze off the water. Very relaxing.

Great place to stay

This place was perfect for our family's weekend stay. Everything we needed we easily found inside the house and outside. The yard was big enough for playing games and the kids had fun in the water. So-much-fun!!

About the host

Host profile image
Originally from Canada, I now live in this beautiful area of Minnesota where beautiful lakes and recreation are abundant. I enjoy interior decorating, restoring old things and giving them a new purpose and outdoor recreation and activities. I love being a vacation home host and my husband and I do all of the cleaning, yard and upkeep ourselves so we can provide our guests with an amazing experience.

Why they chose this property

The peace and tranquility of being on a private lake is such a rare treasure. And yet, activity and entertainment on otter Tail Lake and restaurant and bars are just steps away. It’s truly the best of both worlds at this location.

What makes this property unique

The barn is on a private lake but the hubbub of Ottertail Lake is all right here as well. Truly the perfect location.
