Warm, Beautiful Cabin with Thoughtful Touches

From the moment we walked into this eclectic cabin, bathed in a warm, gentle light, we felt right at home. Everything we could possibly need was already there, and the space just invited us to relax and settle in.The first few days were cold and rainy, but the cabin kept us warm and cozy. We spent our time putting together a puzzle, playing Cribbage, and venturing out for misty hikes. When the sun finally came out for the last two days, my husband took the boat out to fish. Next time, we’ll be sure to take advantage of the kayaks, too!We truly appreciated the beautiful, personal touches throughout the home. The decor, lovingly put together by the owners, made the space feel not just like a house, but a home. Thank you for sharing it with us — we’re already looking forward to coming back.

Peaceful, close to town

This was a great place for my parents to stay while visiting town. Close to everything, but peaceful and quiet. Downstairs bed and bathroom easily accessible for folks with mobility challenges. (Some people with mobility challenges might find it easier to be dropped in front of the house, rather than walking from the parking spot, even though it's close.)

Berkshire Rental

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the week we spent at this location. The dwelling was nicely furnished and well maintained and the pond invites recreation. If we vacation in this area again we would gladly return. The Bartlett Orchard Farm Store is a big plus and the road along the pond beach and boat launch is a great place to walk the dog.

Happy Holiday!

This was a perfect getaway place for a long weekend! It is located close to the main road for getting around. The dock at the lake was wonderful for some quiet time and a great view of the stars at night. We enjoyed it very much. The house had everything we needed.

Fall long weekend

We were doing a Farm to Fork Fondo bike ride in the area so staying in Richmond was a perfect location. The house is a lake house but had all the updates one would want for a comfortable rental. Would have loved to take the kayaks out on the pond so will have to go back another time!

Super place

The pond was so pretty, and just a short walk from the house. The porch was so pleasant; windows all around with peaks of the pond in view. Great location to Lenox where we enjoyed some excellent restaurants. We may return when the weather is warmer and we can take advantage of the boats.

Trip to tanglewood with stay at Richmond Pond.

Quaint cabin like feel. Played board games, and enjoyed rowing and swimming in the pond (which really is a lake). Wonderful and relaxing base camp to hike-did section of AT and saw some peregrine falcons on cliffs near monument trail. Wonderful place to reconnect with family and nature. Great host directions.

Cute Cabin in the Berkshires

We truly enjoyed our stay here. The home is not actually on the lake, which was slightly disappointing because of the pictures, but the lake is a very short walk and is absolutely stunning. The cabin was in a great location, about 15 minutes from Lennox and Pittsfield, though make sure you don't use google maps and follow the owner's directions. The owner was very responsive when we had questions.

Peaceful and homey

The cottage was just as described. It’s not directly waterfront, but it’s a short path to a very pretty lake and you can see the lake from the house. The international folk art gives it a very warm, homey feel. Although it’s in a very quiet location, it’s close to everything.

Quiet and peaceful, this home offered my husband and me a time to reflect while sitting on the lake’s dock, a chance to be off the beaten track while driving country roads and a time for enjoyable browsing at the local bookstore. We’ve been here before and will do it again!

Great access to Tanglewood with a path to the lake.

We thought we had the view depicted in the listing. The house was nestled to the side. It was charming in unusual ways. The kitchen was fine. Folks prior to us did not clean the grill as we were all instructed to. Needs a few new pillows.

Great place, good price point!

We rented this home for 4 nights and everything was as described. Communication with the owner was efficient and prompt. While we really used the property as a place to sleep, there were ample facilities and equipment for meal preparation and family dinners. Richmond Pond was simply gorgeous with fall colors. Outside shower room was pretty cool, although we did not use. Cell phone coverage can be spotty there (especially Verizon) and there is no WIFI. If it had WIFI, I would give 5 stars! :-) Very cool artist with an interesting background lives next door..check out his studio if open.

Peaceful Cottage by the Lake

Stayed at Carol's lovely cottage by the lake over Memorial Day Weekend and really enjoyed our stay, the best thing was that we could bring our dog. The house has an open layout and its full of charm and character, lots of light and a lovely deck. The lake is within a couple of minutes walk on a private road and there is a private deck shared with another house. Went to the lake a few times and took our dog for a swim. The views from the dock are astonishingly beautiful, true Berkshires and enjoyed watching the sunset as well. Overall the house is well appointed and Carol is excellent at keeping in touch and answering any questions we may have. I would recommend renting this beautiful house to anyone who is looking for a tranquil stay, looking to enjoy Tanglewood since it is very close and anyone who has a dog.

Lovely Spot in the Berkshires

We really enjoyed our stay here. The lake is lovely and we enjoyed the beautiful sunsets each night. We enjoyed the kayaks provided and the dock storage had plenty of chairs and tables and an umbrella. The first time we walked out onto the dock my spouse said, "this place needs zero gravity chairs." We opened the shed and there they were. It was perfect. It was private yet we did meet many friendly neighbors on our daily walks. That made us feel very welcome. It is also very convenient to grocery stores and restaurants and all the attractions in the Berkshires. The house has a beautiful sun room with skylights that was wonderful for relaxing. The kitchen was perfectly appointed with new appliances and the grill seems new too. We were only in the downstairs bedroom and that was very comfortable. I believe our hostess has put a great deal of thought and effort into making this property have all the amenities that you would need on your vacation.

Deceptively rural, woodsy. quiet

Located in (when not COVID-19 suppressed) a premier cultural/arts vacation area. It is off the main traffic grid and restfully quiet in the woods, yet only a 10 minute ride to major food supermarkets. House is clean, comfortable and largely as advertised. Living room has 2 glass walls and wonderful woodsy view. We had birds rabbits and a deer visible at different times. We had the restful time we sought. Lake facilities are close to house and inviting but we didn't use them. Climate and house was comfortable. We used a little heat most mornings and the A/C most afternoons. The Owner remained in touch throughout and was very responsive and helpful. Overall, highly recommended with the following caveats: (1) terrain and front path is a little steep for those with balance issues, (2) it is in the woods and there are lots of insects. (3) There is no Cell Phone connectivity in the area, but our cell phones worked fine by linking them to in-house WiFi. Internet connectivity was adequate. There is no wired phone in the house.

Cabin near the lake

Cute little cabin with lots of things to do in the area. The scenery in the area is beautiful. The cabin was fine for a short visit with friends. The adjacent second shower is outside attached to the shed. We did not realize that it was not attached via a walkway or some sort of covering. It was too cold to shower in the room as we could not find the heater for the room. If it was summer, the outdoor shower would have been fine. The "adjacent" notation was on the description. I guess we just did not think that meant outdoors. The location of the cabin parking is a distance from the entrance to the property. We simply parked near the entrance to unload, then promptly moved our vehicles to the designated parking space. It was not any issue at all, but should be noted that there is no parking near the cabin. It was very dark when we arrived. Thankfully, the instructions for finding the property were very thorough. Don't let GPS take you to the location. We were directed to a scout camp with a locked gate. Follow the written instructions from property owner. We initially planned on using the paddle boat and the flat bottom boat, but both were filled with water. Again, not a problem, but it would have been fun to have gone out onto the lake. The area is gorgeous. There is a pier that you can use to walk out and view the lake, but no walking access to wander around the lake area. It was a nice location for the quick reunion with friends from Canada. We enjoyed the nearby parks and tourist locations.

Disappointing

We rented House on the Pond starting July 15 thru August 15 2015.In a word the house was truly disappointing and was not as advertised.Pictures on the web site lead you to believe that the house is on the pond which is not accurate. The pond is down a path outside the house and about 100 yards away .In no part of the house, can one see the pond. Access to the house is difficult especially when it rains which is often in the Berkshires. The house has no driveway so you have to park across the street and either walk across the lawn or down a sreep sloped gravel path. When one has luggage or heavy grocery bags this is a problem. We expected two full bathrooms---there is one full bath and another half bath upstairs. This is a long time family home which is very evident when you see the collections of family pictures and trinkets. The house has been a repository for not only numerous personal family items but also many vacations trinkets-statues-bowls etc .In the downstairs area there would be as many as thirty to forty such items. Posters are stapled to the walls. Each of the medicine cabinets has old and dried out items which should have been tossed out or stored.Parts of the house are dark and dingy. The master bedroom has a twin bed a single bed,a roll away bed , a bookshelf,a desk a dresser two small night stands a standing lamp, a reading chair a desk and a very large stacked washer dryer --which is over six feet in height!.all the furniture in the house is very worn--a large lamp in the living room has a hole and the picnic table and benches on the front porch has warped wood and is unsafe.Numerous mouse traps can be found in the house. One closet had as many as four traps. We felt like we were living at Goodwill or a second hand store. The house was not clean when we moved in and the dishes and silverware were dirty., we spent a day cleaning before we left and were charged a fee by the owner. We rent in the Berkshires every summer and would NOT stay at this house ever again.

Squeezing the last out of summer

My family and I rented this cozy lake house over Labor Day weekend. This was our forth stay in this house and enjoyed every minute. We took the kayaks out, went swimming, lazed about on the deck, hung out on the porch reading books. It had everything we needed to relax and get ready for the new school year. We might try and make it an annual tradition!
