About this property
Daniels Mountain Lodge, large cabin by Shenandoah
Daniels Mountain Lodge is a secluded, spacious and luxurious log cabin, the perfect mountain getaway for quiet retreats or big gatherings with family and friends. We're within 30 minutes 10 stunning Virginia wineries like Barboursville and Early Mountain; 20 minutes from Shenandoah National Park's Swift Run Gap entrance for easy access to hiking and cycling; and 40 minutes from Charlottesville and the University of Virginia. The house is great for guests of all ages with a primary bedroom on the main floor and plenty of space for kids to play. With 5 wooded acres of privacy and a spacious, family-friendly, pet-friendly 3,000-sq ft house, you can also stay in! Take advantage of our fully stocked kitchen and enjoy dinner on the covered wrap-around porch after a day of hiking. Savor an evening by the firepit. This spacious modern lodge has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. One bedroom is on the main level, one bedroom on the upper level, and two bedrooms on the lower level of the home. It's newly renovated and furnished. Since we are located atop a mountain and with lots of wooded privacy, the road to get to the Lodge can be a little tricky. Four- or all-wheel drive is preferred. Lower-clearance cars might have trouble because it is a gravel and quite bumpy road. We hope you enjoy your stay!

House was great and had everything we needed. Highly recommend. Large and private, but not quite secluded. Can see other houses. Mountain driveway is not to be underestimated. 4WD required and need tall clearance under car. It is 1-car wide and challenged when you meet another car coming the other way. Close enough to both Shenandoah for outdoor activities and C’ville for city attractions. Cleanliness great! Communication easy and prompt.
Everything at Daniel’s Mountain Lodge is as listed- no unpleasant surprises! A perfect stay for our family with adult children to relax, hike, reunite and enjoy being together under one roof as a family again!
We stayed here for a weekend to attend a concert in Charlottesville and to relax a bit. The home and property are just as described. Everything was very clean and the kitchen was well appointed with plenty of dishes and a nice variety of spices. The property description is 100% correct that you need a 4 WD vehicle (and a confident driver…LOL) to get to the property but it is well worth it!
We are a family of 5. We have 2 adult children and a teenager, so space and sleeping set up is the #1 thing I look for when booking a VRBO. This house seemed to have the set up and bedding we needed-except we were highly disappointed that the listing details said there was a King Bed in the Master-when this was nowhere near the case. I think it was a Queen.
I was so disappointed to arrive and there was not a king bed. I was really counting on that.
Also, the electric in the upstairs bedroom continued to work off and on. That was frustrating as well.
Overall, the house is beautiful, well appointed, and the bedrooms in the basement were perfect for our 21 year olds to have their own space
The drive up to the home is no joke. You definitely need a 4-wheel drive if possible.
I hope they update the master bedroom description, or perhaps reach out to those who are currently booked for upcoming stays, and let them know it indeed is not a King.
The cabin was just as described. As soon as you drive up to the Daniels Cabin we wanted to run inside. The place was stunning, welcoming and inviting a perfect welcoming to our large family. Our three large dogs enjoyed the expansive back yard. Thy enjoyed the trail that is right behind the cabin. A nice short walk was enjoyed daily. We enjoyed many wineries within about an hour from the cabin. You will definitely need Four wheel drive getting up to the cabin is bit bumpy. We truly enjoyed our time t th cabin. Thank you Josh and Heather
