About this property

Audrey’s Acres Original 1912 Homestead. Only 1 mile from Rainy River boat access

This unique old, two-story farm house has been continuously occupied and has gone through several renovations over the last 100 plus years. It was originally built by Swedish immigrants in 1912. Their son and his wife raised their family and occupied the house from the 1950's until 2019 when one of their daughters and her husband took over the property and started to renovate it for rental. The house is located right on Minnesota State Highway 11, between the historic Nelson’s General Store and the Birchdale United Congregational Church and across from the Birchdale landing road, UT 118 North. The downstairs of the house has an open floor plan, kitchen, dining and living room, plus a bathroom w/shower. There are three bedrooms upstairs accessed by steep stairs from the living room. Each side of the building has a porch. The south porch serves as an entryway and the north porch is a three season sitting area and potential extra sleeping space. The 2-1/2 acre yard and grounds have a large pull through driveway good for trucks with boat trailers. There is a firepit outside with free firewood, guests are asked to put fire out when unattended. Several private outbuildings and a shop that are used by the owners are also at this location. The property was operated as a logging business for decades and old scrap, glass etc. could cut bare feet so footwear should be worn outside. There is a deck on the south side of the house with an eletric grill and a picnic table in the yard. Free firewood is available next to the fire pit. The house is located just one short mile south of the Birchdale public landing the “Nelson Park“ maintained by Koochiching county. There is a double access boat ramp onto the Rainy River and also a new public playground.
