We stayed at the Priory for four nights for a work trip. We were working in the forest all week and it was great to come back to a warm wood stove and excellent jacuzzi / shower. We also made use of the washer and dryer provided.
We immediately fell in love with The Priory! It is exactly what we were looking for in a cozy cottage in Ireland. The owners were very helpful and were right on property if we needed anything. Of course, their pups were one of the highlights of our trip. We couldn’t wait for Teddy, their Cocker Spaniel to visit our cottage each morning. Staying here was like a welcomed step back in time and a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage was nestled away from the town, but close enough for a quick drive or a 15 min walk. We miss the cottage already, and would absolutely love to return some day if we get back to Ireland. This is a must stay!!
Beautiful home in Killarney. It was perfect for our needs especially with our 1 year old with the crib and high chair and large bath tub. Close walk into Killarney with lots of pubs, restaurants and shops. Thanks to Tim and Bernadette!
We enjoyed the stay a lot! Teddy and Macey were excellent additions to the welcome committee. Boo Radley made a guest appearance as well (not inside the unit).
This was a trip of a lifetime—25th Wedding Anniversary, milestone birthdays for my wife and kids—incredible. The Coach House at The Priory was absolutely perfect and we loved our stay. Bernadette and Tim were outstanding hosts—friendly, quick to respond to questions, and always available for local advice. The property itself is beautiful and is in a great location—accessible to everything Killarney has to offer, but also tucked away from the bustle enough to be quiet and peaceful. Our highest recommendation possible—thank you, Bernadette and Tim!
The coach house is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay in a historic building. The whole Priory is very quiet and perfect for relaxing or hiking the Killarney National Park. The next grocery is just 10 minutes walking distance. Bernadette - the host - was very helpful with recommendations and helped arranging trips.
Lovely coach house in a great location- close to stunning Killarney National Park, walking distance to town with many restaurant choices, and easy driving to the Dingle peninsula. The property was very comfortable and Tim and Bernadette were wonderful hosts. Thank you for a truly memorable trip!
This property is beautiful. The hosts communicated clearly and check in was simple and quick. The beds were comfortable, the area was quiet and located just outside the town. Everything was smooth and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped, the washer dryer was very handy. We would definitely stay here again!
Great base to exlore the National Park and Rings of Kerry and Dingle
We only had one prior communication with the host about our late arrival, wasn't an issue, lights in cottage were on and key in the door when we srrived at 9:30pm.
We met the host Bernadette a couple days later and she had a lot of additional suggestions for our sightseeing plans and recommendations for dinner.
Cottage was great, very spacious and clean. Great location about 20-30min on foot to town with plenty of eating options. About 10min by car to supermarkets in town.
This cottage provided everything we needed for a 4 night stay. The host was great and gave us awesome traveling tips for the local area. The cottage location was in perfect walking distance to shops and restaurants.
Beautiful property. Well kept, peaceful and nice walk to Killarney center. Tim and Bernadette were always quick to respond with any queries and Tim had great suggestions on activities and restaurants. Overall, lovely stay and would highly recommend!
There is so much to love about the Priory Coach House! The quiet, bucolic location is ideal; we walked into town as well as to events at the racetrack and INEC. The house itself has all the modern conveniences, yet is full of traditional Irish charm. Killarney is a very fun town; we loved the pubs and easy access to the National Park and Ring Road. Our hosts were super helpful and we loved the sweet, friendly pups. We adore the Kingdom of Kerry and can't wait to go back. Thanks for a delightful and memorable stay!
The stay had all the comforts of being in a home while traveling. We cooked a few meals, washed clothes, watched Tv after spending days exploring. Everything was convenient including getting groceries. We did not have a car because we booked tours but that was not a problem at this location. The courtyard and cherry trees were lovely. Would definitely stay again.
We stayed over Christmas andis was lovely. Enough space for everyone. They even gve us a decorated Christmas tree!
Loved the location. Easy access to everything. Good place for exploring the Ring of Kerry and Dingle peninsula. Great hikes close by.
This coach house has a lot of character and is well appointed and maintained. It’s quiet and away from the tourist crowds downtown. We thoroughly enjoyed being here!
This cottage was a great launching pad for our day triips to Dingle and the Ring of Kerry as well as the Cliffs of Moher. We walked to pubs and restaurants. We had a lovely rainy day by the fireplace . Would definitely come back!
Owner was accommodating and attentive. He quickly fixed a bad outlet while we were out and was able to provide a box to ship souvenirs home.
We arrived earlier than anticipated and were able to sit in the living room while the cleaning was completed upstairs, which was appreciated given the long journey.
The location was amazing, so close to the Ring of Kerry, and the grounds of the house were like stepping back in time with a village/cottage feel.
The house was great with ample space for our party.
The washer AND separate dryer were a nice surprise as most are combos and the dryer doesn't work well. They worked great and were convenient for us as we head on to the second part of our trip.
CONS
The house needs a thorough deep cleaning, especially on top of the light fixtures in the kitchen (everywhere really).
Additionally the stove was not cleaned when we arrived and the cleaning lady had already cleaned the kitchen. Likely an oversight.
The toilet in the half bath (inside the kitchen) does not flush well. The owner is aware of this problem as the last guests let him know.
There are light bulbs out in many areas of the house including the kitchen counter pendant and the top bedroom on the left (main ceiling and one on the wall above the bed). This was a problem because you do not have a light to turn on when you walk in that room unless you walk over to the bedside table.
There are three clocks in the living room and none of them worked. There were batteri

About the host
Hosted by Tim O'Donoghue
Bernadette and Tim O’Donoghue met in The Windy City of Chicago a few years back. We acquired the property in 2002. We then returned from Chicago in 2004.
Bernadette was a paralegal secretary and is now a stay at home Mom and an excellent baker, I am an electrician by trade but got into construction during my 14 years in Chicago. I restored several old houses and classic vintage apartment buildings during my time there. I coupled this experience with Bernadette’s keen eye and interior design savvy to create some wonderful finishes and unusual touches. We began the colossal rehab project in 2004 to restore the Priory to its former glory ,it was basically completed it in 2007 or is it ever complete I like to ask myself ?
We pride ourselves in welcoming you into our place.
Why they chose this property
I grew up in Killarney, where my parents owned a camping site and I truly loved meeting visitors on a daily basis. We have 4 children and we wanted to raise them here in Ireland, so we said we would give it a shot and here we are. When this property became available we realized how unique it was and what a fantastic opportunity it would be to own The Priory.
What makes this property unique
We are in a key location, a ten minute walk from town but it feels like we are in the heart of the countryside where you cannot hear a sound by night. You will get a quiet private house to yourself where you can come and go as you please. You can cook when you want and have the full use of the 1.5 acre property on private grounds. You can sit back and relax in the front of the open hearth fire sipping a nice Irish whiskey or reading a good book with the sweet smell of turf burning away. This cottage has a large tub you can slip into and soothe the soul after a hectic day. You will get the real feel of Irish living and live like we live ourselves while visiting in your home away from home. We are on site owners who are here to help you in any way you require and assure a wonderful stay. We have invaluable knowledge about the local area from cultural information to hikes, local food joints to off the beaten track drives. We can organize in-house chef, or poetry recital or to a music session.
We like to tell our guests ''We are as near or as far as you wish.'
