🌲 Our Story – The Jensens & Sanctuary Treehouse Resort
Every great adventure begins with a dream — and ours started in our own backyard. Years ago, we built a simple treehouse for our four children. It had bunk beds, a trap door, a swing, and even a zipline. It quickly became their favorite place to laugh, play, and let their imaginations run wild.
As time went on, we realized that treehouse had become something more than just a family project — it was a sanctuary. A place where we all slowed down, disconnected from distractions, and reconnected with what truly matters.
That small family treehouse became the inspiration for something much bigger: Sanctuary Treehouse Resort — the world’s first interactive treehouse resort, designed to help guests rediscover that same sense of wonder. What began as one backyard idea has grown into a 40-acre Smoky Mountain destination, welcoming visitors from around the world.
Each treehouse is handcrafted and individually themed by our team of local craftsmen — blending luxury comfort with nostalgic playfulness. From 20-foot slides and drink chutes to escape hatches, pulley systems, and themed décor, every stay is designed to spark joy, connection, and curiosity.
We’re proud to say that Sanctuary Treehouse Resort remains a family-owned and operated dream, built from the ground up by people who love this area and the guests who visit it. We’re on-site almost every day — often greeting guests, tending fires, sharing stories, and watching families make memories just like we did years ago.
To us, Sanctuary isn’t just a resort. It’s our family legacy — a reminder that joy, imagination, and togetherness never go out of style.
Thank you for being part of our story and letting us be a part of yours. Whether you’re here for adventure, relaxation, or a little of both, we hope your stay among the trees leaves you inspired, refreshed, and full of wonder.

Why they chose this property
Why We Chose This Property 🌲✨
We fell in love with this land the very first time we stood beneath its trees. Set on 40 private acres overlooking two 18-hole championship golf courses and breathtaking views of the Great Smoky Mountains, the property felt peaceful, powerful, and full of potential — the perfect canvas for something extraordinary.
As a family, we had always dreamed of creating a place that brought people together — a destination that inspired connection, laughter, and a return to childlike wonder. When we found this property in Sevierville, Tennessee, we knew it was the one. The views, the wildlife, the feeling of remoteness and the proximity to the areas best in shopping, dining, and entertainment — it offered everything we wanted to share with others who love the Smokies as much as we do.
From that vision, Sanctuary Treehouse Resort was born — built from the ground up by our family with the goal of giving guests a one-of-a-kind experience. We didn’t just purchase land; we invested in a dream to create a place where people from all over the world could relax, play, and reconnect with what truly matters.
Today, we’re proud to call this property home to the world’s first interactive treehouse resort, and we’re even more proud to welcome guests who make it part of their own stories.
