Great place to hang beside the ocean
The house and grounds are great. The pool is not heated but was generally warm enough and quite big . The beds and linens are great and there are plenty of towels. The owner and house manager are both quick and responsive.
Accessing the bay is not straightforward. To get to the beach you have to either go around the complex and down some steep rocks or you need to go through to the neighbours property and cross their patio and yard. While it is legal, this made us uncomfortable especially if the neighbours were outside.
I asked the owner if the beach is swimmable since this was very important to us. He told us to wear water shoes but that it was. It is not. There are large piles of slippery, baseball size rocks to walk over to get out far enough to swim. We worried about the waves throwing us into the bigger rocks. We tried a few different spots but in the end we went to Bucerias to swim. The owner said the rocks were brought in by a hurricane a few months ago but it appeared they have been there for much longer than that.
And the roosters were indeed relentless. There were no noise canceling machines in the rooms during our stay.
We rented a car. It is close to Bucerias and La Cruz but found it so much easier to get around especially because you can’t just pop into a shop. Beware added mandatory insurance when renting a car in Mexico though.
For my 60th birthday I wanted to sit in a pool, have a drink with my friends and look out at the sea. Mission accomplished!
