About this property

Mdina 3 BR Traditional Townhouse in Mdina's Heart

Stunning 3 bedroom townhouse in a beautiful location: within the ancient walled city of Mdina. Recently renovated to the highest standards. Agatina's is a comfortable home brimming with old character and charm yet complimented by modern furnishings.
The space
The property, named Agatina's, is situated in the heart of Mdina - Malta's old capital city. Mdina is a fortified Medieval City of around 300 inhabitants. It is one of Europe's finest examples of an ancient walled city and is extraordinary in its mix of medieval and baroque architecture.

Living in Mdina is comparable to residing in an open air museum. It is a perfect location for those who enjoy culture and for those who would truly like to experience residing in this magnificent city steeped in history where everything is within walking distance.

Its location cannot be emphasised enough - it is situated WITHIN the walled city of Mdina (not in other towns such as Rabat, Bahrija, Mtarfa or Mosta nor in the outer-limits of Mdina). This is quite a rarity as there are very few opportunities for tourists to live and reside within Mdina. Our location in the 'Silent City' of Mdina is unrivalled compared to many other available properties that advertise themselves as located in Mdina, when in fact they are outside the city gates of Mdina.

Agatina's is a property that has been recently renovated with modern furnishings. The final result is a very comfortable property that can easily host 7 guests in its 3 large bedrooms both in the Summer and Winter months.

For potential guest's convenience, here is a general description of the layout of the house.

Agatina's is spread over 3 floors that are connected by a central and majestic staircase.

The ground floor/1st floor opens to a living room. One can find 2 large and comfortable leather sofas that face each other and a large coffee table in this room. In a chest of drawers, we provide numerous books, maps and touristic information that all guests to Mdina will find useful.

The property then leads to a small study area, where a cosy desk is situated under the staircase. This is an ideal place to read and relax. It is also the epitome of a laptop-friendly work area.

One can then proceed to a separate dining room with comfortable seating for 7 people in the shape of a large Mahogany table and 6 chairs. The dining room leads to a courtyard which is large enough to dine in the open air and/or host a barbecue.

The kitchen is also found on the ground/1st floor. The kitchen is furnished with a microwave, separate hobs and oven, toaster, fridge, kettle etc. There is also a washing machine available in the kitchen. Also situated on the ground/1st floor is a separate WC and a separate shower.

Onwards to the the 2nd floor. On the right side of the 2nd floor there is a bedroom with 2 single beds. These can be joined together to form a majestic double bed. The room is centred around a large window, which provides a substantial amount of natural sunlight, that overlooks the quaint alley that leads to the house.

On the left hand side of the 2nd floor there is a second bedroom with 2 single beds (these also can be joined together to form a double bed). This second bedroom enjoys an ensuite shower-room and an ensuite bathroom (allowing 2 people to wash at the same time) with a WC and 2 'his' and 'her' sinks. There is also a small balcony which can be accessed from this bedroom where one can sit and enjoy the tranquility that Mdina provides.

The 3rd and final floor consists of a large double ensuite bedroom which commands lovely views of Mdina's skyline. We like to refer to this as the 'honeymoon suite’. This room enjoys an adjoining shower-room with a large shower, WC and sink. This bedroom also enjoys a small and pleasantly designed functioning kitchenette.

The 3rd and final floor also consists of a roof terrace where one can pleasantly enjoy a drink whilst enjoying stunning views of the Mdina Cathedral and Mdina's skyline.

We will do our utmost to ensure that you will enjoy your stay in Mdina.

Although there are 3 double bedrooms, we are able to host 8 people in total by placing two folding beds in the other bedrooms.
Guest access
Guests will have access to fans and heaters.

A washing machine along with an ironing board are available for guest's use.

Linen and towels are provided.

There is Wi-Fi available in all areas of the property.

We can also provide a child's cot and a maid's service should you request such services.

Taxi and airport services can be also be provided for and/or arranged.

Should any guest require anything in particular - please let us know. We live close-by and will do our best to help.
Other things to note
For people that book for a few nights we are happy to prepare a small welcome package with some traditional food and drinks from Malta including a local wine favoured by the locals. We genuinely hope that you enjoy your stay at Agatina's and will do our best to accommodate anything you request.

Environmental Contribution Payment - The Government of Malta has recently introduced a charge that is liable on all guests staying at all types of accommodation. All revenue generated from this initiative will be directed solely and exclusively to upgrade and embellish the local infrastructure in touristic areas around the Maltese Islands. The contribution is payable by all tourists/guests who are 18 years or older on the day of arrival. It amounts to €0.50c per person for each night spent at our accommodation. The contribution is capped at a maximum of €5 for each continuous stay. We are obliged to collect this contribution and then pass it onto the Government. An official and government-issued ‘Notice to Guests’ will be available at the property that further explains the environmental contribution and the reason for this charge. The exact sum due will be determined during your stay, and I once again apologise for the inconvenience.

Why they chose this property

Living in Mdina is comparable to residing in an open air museum. It is a perfect location for those who enjoy culture and for those who would truly like to experience residing in this magnificent city steeped in history where everything is within walking distance.

What makes this property unique

Located down a quiet alleyway in Mdina, this property offers the best of both worlds: - Immediate access, right outside your front door, to the wonderful Medieval city of Mdina; - A quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Its location cannot be emphasised enough - it is situated WITHIN the walled city of Mdina (not in other towns such as Rabat, Bahrija, Mtarfa or Mosta nor in the outer-limits of Mdina).
