About this property

The Boathouse by the Creek

The Boathouse is a perfect place to recapture some peace in a hectic world. We have hosted thousands of guests over four years on other platforms and have a five-star rating. Our guests have enjoyed the lovely setting of this romantic spot in nature. Many return several times a year. It’s a great place to get away for a breath of fresh air and relax. Sit by the year-round creek and enjoy the soothing sounds of water meandering its way beneath the lush green trees as the sunlight peeks through the branches and dances on the water. Take a creek walk to the waterfall and up to the surrounding ridges, and enjoy the beauty of nature on a relaxing adventure. Don’t forget to ask us about the nearby swimming hole, or bring your four-wheelers or ATV and cruise the hundreds of miles of dirt backroads. You can even schedule a massage to help you unwind while you are here.

The Space
A tiny home with French doors that open to a large covered back deck overlooking the year-round creek. The deck features a gas grill, an outdoor sink and granite counter, a table with chairs, a bar-height ledge with four stools, and a huge chalkboard with chalk to leave a message or just doodle. The deck also has sliding gates. You can leave them open or close them while relaxing with your morning coffee and not worry about your small children or fur babies wandering off. We also provide several long leads if needed for the puppers. Next to the deck are the “Hillbilly Hot Tub” and outdoor shower, with an endless supply of hot water. Take a long, relaxing bubble bath under the stars and twinkle lights while listening to the rushing water, and ask Alexa to play your favorite relaxing music! Or hang out in the hammock and enjoy the one-of-a-kind view!

We do have an outdoor composting toilet in a modern, tasteful setting. There is no indoor toilet. Come be adventurous with us! There are stairs leading down to the creek, where the fire pit is located. There is also a small table and chairs, with a water mister for hot summer days. Most guests enjoy putting their chairs in the creek, letting the water rush over their feet. There are hundreds of feet of string lights hanging along the creek, illuminating the flowing water at night. The view is simply breathtaking!

Inside is a full kitchen, complete with everything you need to cook away from home, including a stove/oven, full-size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster, blender, kitchen utensils, knife set, silverware, plates, glasses, coffee cups, wine glasses, Keurig and mini coffee station and spices. We having amazing tasting spring water, or you can use the Berkey water filter if you desire. We do have plastic cups and plates for the kiddos!

Fall into comfort on our inviting queen-size bed and enjoy viewing your favorite shows on a wall mounted 65 inch Roku Smart TV. There is also an indoor shower with a private dressing area. We supply shampoo and conditioner, as well as body wash. We also supply towels and washcloths. Cozy up on the full-size couch with one of our super-soft throw blankets! A sound machine and Alexa are located next to the bed, along with USB outlets for charging your devices.

The Boathouse also features a loft area with two twin beds and a large dining table that seats six. Whether you bring the whole family, come for a romantic getaway or want to get away to enjoy solitude by yourself, it’s the perfect setting to relax, recharge and find peace.

Last year, we stayed in The Shanty by the Creek, but this year we needed a bit more room and decided to book The Boathouse. Once again, we were not disappointed. The Boathouse has an even better view then The Shanty, though it was very beautiful and unique in its own right. I can highly recommend either place, just depending on your needs. I love sitting outside on the deck in the morning and drinking my coffee, listening to the water and watching the wildlife. The inside is so cozy and you have pretty much everything you need. The composting toilet is unique, for me anyway, but after two stays now, it's just business as usual. One of our favorite features is the outdoor shower and endless hot water - pure heaven! Driving back to the cabin at night and seeing all of the outdoor lights is such a beautiful and unique experience. You won't regret booking this quaint little spot deep in the woods. Todd and Jennifer are awesome hosts and anything you need, just send a message and they respond promptly!
This was the waterfall after a rain the night before - so beautiful!
The creek looks more like a small river after it rains.
So beautiful at night with all of the lights.
