The space The Farmhouse is a getaway location surrounded by nature, birds and the resident chipmunk, but still 15 minutes from major towns in the valley. Child and pet friendly, the home has a fenced in front yard and child accessories available (crib, high chair, stroller, baby gates and monitor). It is a great launch pad for attending events in the area, exploring the Annapolis Valley, or relaxing with a group of friends or family.
The outdoor space is a highlight of the property. Both patios on the north and south sides are surrounded by gardens with great views. The main patio has sitting, eating and campfire areas with a rock water feature, nestled under a 200 year old Maple with a view of the riding ring and fields of the neighbouring equestrian centre. The house was clean, well organized and very well equipped. The host was super responsive and provided excellent options for dining and entertainment. We would happily recommend this location.
We very much enjoyed the property and the farmhouse. Comfortable, cozy, and clean. We had lots of room for all of us and all the amenities we needed along with nice extras and personal touches. The beds were comfortable. We would definitely go there again.

Thank you, Phyllis, for choosing the Farmhouse for your stay. Thank you, as well, for your kind words about the house and property. You and your families are welcome back anytime.
What a wonderful place this turned out to be for our first ever visit to Nova Scotia. Our host left a few pleasant surprises to welcome us to her farmhouse and we loved them. All our needs were met and our party of 8 felt right at home. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels for everyone (which is important when you have a large group). I highly recommend that guests take a morning walk up the road to the host family’s vineyard and take in the breathtaking views. I definitely see us staying here again should we be fortunate to return to Nova Scotia one day.

Thank you for choosing the Farmhouse for your first visit to NS! Your group took fabulous care of the property and communicated well. You are welcome back anytime.
Oh my gosh…the Farmhouse is so lovely!! We are a group of 8 high school friends (class of 74) enjoying each others company for our Annual girls getaway ! The Farmhouse could not have been more perfect!! Super clean for starters and had everything we could have needed in the kitchen not only small appliances but spices and cooking oils. Lots of nooks and crannies and too many personal touches to mention…it was such a welcoming space it felt like home!! Beds are comfy and lots of pillows!! Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bath salts…everything we needed!! The weather only allowed us to enjoy the outdoor space for an afternoon but with the fire table, comfy chairs, swing, loungers, dining table and chairs, fountain and incredible view we are planning on coming back next year a few weeks later to take advantage of the outdoor space…hopefully all of the shrubs and perennials will be in full bloom!! Nova was so great and responsive to any questions we had and offered some great suggestions for things to do! We were too early for the wine train but it’s on our list for next year!! We were surprised to find Nova had left us a few yummy treats to welcome us!!! I (and the other girls) would 100% recommend the Farmhouse…I’m sure you will enjoy it every bit as much as we did!!!
This home is a must visit for people who love quirky older homes with loads of character. There are many modern features, but the original personality of the home remains. Our host was amazing. She communicated everything we needed to know and helpful tidbits in the leadup to our visit. She answered all our questions and anticipated our needs. The property had something for everyone in our family: amazing night sky viewing, a claw foot tub to soak, a large yard to run around, sprinklings from The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock for the poet, space to spread out, to mention just a few. Our only regret was we couldn't stay longer.

This property is a bastion of peace. I am grateful for thé warm communication from the host, Nova, the freshly baked bread and the wine, and invitation to walk the orchards next door. We stayed at a difficult time when a family member who lived nearby was passing and the beautiful stone patio and splashing fountain as well as the mountain and vineyard views were good Medicine. Overall excellent

Thank you, Sue, for your kind words. I’m glad the Farmhouse provided a peaceful space for you during a difficult time.
Being a family that appreciates and grew up in the country, The farmhouse made us all feel very much at home away from home. It accommodated my parents on the main level with ensuite bathroom and air conditioning, nice to spoil them after all these years. The upstairs, my sister and her son had two rooms to themselves and my wife an I had a beautiful room to call our own. There are additional rooms upstairs if we ever wanted to bring more quests on our return trip, which we will definitely do. The nice claw foot tub in the upstairs bathroom was a highlight for those wanting some time to relax and decompress. Playing catch on the front lawn with my nephew and father was a great way to spend an afternoon. We even enjoy a few games of washer toss. One of the highlights for us was the beautiful patio with lots of seating and a nice breeze throughout the day while we enjoyed cold beverages and freezies. The kitchen had everything we needed to make delicious meals for everyone throughout the weekend. Nice quiet neighbourhood made for some enjoyable evening strolls along the vineyards perimeter road. The horse lover in our group (Mom) was excited to see a horse event next door, she was able to enjoy watching from the patio. If you arrive around early July there is a stunning Cherry tree with the sweetest cherries we've ever had. I am not sure how to describe how perfect this place is for a group or family, but it is. I'll leave you with this picture to showcase how relaxing it is.

We stayed in the Farmhouse for a week in June 2026, for a family reunion. The farmhouse and grounds are lovely. The house easily accommodated our group which varied between 8 and 10 adults. The house was very well equipped, in particular the kitchen had everything we needed. The large patio has a lovely waterfall, a propane fire table, and lots of chairs. There are huge maple trees shading the patio and the fenced playground with solo and interactive equipment. We walked through the family vineyards to a spot with Adirondack chairs and a lovely view of the valley. Our host Nova was very friendly, helpful and responsive, but the house was so well equipped that we hardly needed to message her. We highly recommend the property and would very happily stay there again.
Grandma’s house meets modern conveniences…We had a magical weekend at the farmhouse, and our grandchildren explored all the secret hiding places while the adults chose between the TV room, dining room, parlor, and country kitchen. Casual conversations were free flowing as a result. Each room had the charm of an 1800’s house, but was adorned with state-of-the-art functionality. Picture plank floors to remind you of the past, but having rainforest showers and double sinks. No need to suffer from antiquated amenities. If you’re curious about the attention to detail, let me tell you about the junk drawer. It’s in the kitchen, just where yours is at home. There are screwdrivers, glue, office supplies, batteries, flashlights ‘just in case’. That attention to detail abounds in every room.I’m a big fan of this place.

I am so glad your family chose the Farmhouse for your celebration. The sandbox play was one of the few signs you were there because everything was left spotless. Your family was gracious and kind and I would welcome you back anytime.
I am a Nova Scotia original and even carry the identity in my name. I love our province and being able to offer a place for others to explore some of the things I love- hiking, beaches, wine, art & culture as well as a quiet place to reconnect with friends and loved ones.
Why they chose this property
Sheffield Mills is a small community nestled at the base of the North Mountain. It’s off the beaten path and offers an oasis for friends and families to gather, while still being conveniently located to access all key places in the valley- Wolfville, New Minas and Kentville, Halls Harbour, Cape Split and Blomidon, beaches, wineries and the Saltair Nordic Spa. The village of Canning is 4km away and can supply all traveller needs-food, gas, pharmacy, restaurants, Liquor Store and more.
What makes this property unique
The Farmhouse is a well loved home, with modern features like air conditioning, ice maker, outdoor grill and fire table. But what makes it outstanding is the space it offers both inside and out- multiple gathering areas, a garden surrounded deck, outdoor fenced play area and unfettered space to relax, explore and connect.
