About this property
Beautiful lakefront cabin located less than 1 hour from Lake George & Saratoga
The General’s Cabin at Lake Cossayuna is perfect for a couple’s get away, a girls trip or a family vacation! Fully equipped lake front home in a prime location for fun on site or head out for exciting Adirondack excursions! Forty minutes to Saratoga and forty-five minutes to Lake George. SPECIAL OFFER ALERT: for two weekends in September, The General’s Cabin is reducing the minimum night’s stay from three to two nights to support The County Bounty Sept. 6th-7th & The Adirondack Balloon Festival Sept. 18th-21st. Two wonderful events that take place within minutes from the cabin: 30-35 minutes to the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport & County Bounty venues as close as 15 minutes.
Stay on the premises for boating (bring your own boat^ to our dock), fishing, kayaking and more! Fishing rods prepped and ready for your use. Kayaks, paddles and lifejackets on site. Plenty of outdoor games provided for entertainment. There is a card table located on the lower level for everything from poker nights to old maid! The kitchen is fully stocked and, with a creamery and Gardenworks located nearby, your inner foodie will be happy to meal prep while looking out over the lake! Enjoy the deck while relaxing on the two person swing or cast a line from the dock. Plenty of places nearby to explore: Gardenworks, Battenkill Creamery, Lakeside General Store, Stuart’s Berry Farm and more! Like beer and wine? There are local breweries in close proximity: Argyle Brewing Co. and Scotlander Brewery. Victory Vineyard, South Dominion Vineyard and Slyboro Ciderhouse are a short drive away. At Hicks Orchard and Slyboro Ciderhouse kids can feed the goats and enjoy warm cider doughnuts! Horseback trail riding is also located nearby at 4J Farmm where you can enjoy a leisurely ride through beautiful farmland.
Other seasonal activities nearby include the Washington County Cheese Tour/County Bounty (Sept), lavender picking at Lavenlair (July), berry picking (summer months), the Washington County Fair, the Schaghticoke Fair, apple picking at Saratoga Apple (Sept-Oct), the Saratoga Raceway (August) and the Adirondack Balloon and Lake George Balloon Festivals (June/September).
Spend a day at Lake George playing mini golf, visiting the arcade, taking a ride on the lake with the Lake George Steamboat Company or watching fireworks over the lake (Thursday evenings in summer). After a busy day among the crowds of tourists, head away from the hustle and bustle back to the calm and quaint atmosphere of The General’s Cabin.
Got a day at the track on your mind? The General’s Cabin is a great option for a long weekend to attend the Travers Stakes at Saratoga Racetrack. With the cabin as your home base, you can enjoy all that the Adirondack region has to offer while being situated in a convenient location for a day at the races!
If you enjoy hiking, Battenkill State Forest* offers two and half miles of rugged terrain, but the views are amazing! Battenkill State Forest is located less than thirty minutes from the cabin. If you prefer a trail with natural water features, check out Shelving Rock Mountain Trail* located about an hour from the cabin. (*Please note that these suggestions are made based on the proximity of the location to the cabin. If you plan to hike, please do your research prior to your trip to ensure your comfort and safety.)
Just aiming to relax and get away? Then keep it local! Stay at the cabin and watch the sunrise over beautiful Lake Cossayuna from the balcony deck with a hot cup of tea or coffee in the morning and star gaze by night. The view of the stars from the platform dock is spectacular! Shooting stars a bonus! Enjoy s’mores lakeside down by the fire pit located by the dock and grab breakfast or lunch at The Auction Barn Restaurant. Joe is baking up fresh pastries Friday-Sunday at the Lakeside General Store where you can also stop for souvenirs of your trip or get wonderful homemade sandwiches. Take out or dine inside or outside in their beautiful picnic garden located behind the store. Go for ice cream or top rated chocolate milk at the Battenkill Creamery. Visit Gardenworks for a variety of goods and hand crafted items. They boast a large selection of cheeses and local fare for your enjoyment. Inquire about their farm to table events and weekend brunch. Contact Mapleland Farms to see their wide selection of maple products sourced on their Salem, NY maple farm minutes from the cabin. Head up to Whitehall to Rathbun’s Maple Sugar House Restaurant for a delicious weekend breakfast. In August their blueberry pancakes can’t be beat!

About the host
Hosted by Melissa

So happy to be a host! We love our family property and get joy from sharing it with others. When guests tell us how much they enjoyed their stay, it genuinely makes us happy. We love The General’s Cabin and want folks to benefit from its beautiful lakefront location and the opportunity it provides to access all there is to do and see in the Adirondack region.
Why they chose this property
The season and timing of your stay at The General’s Cabin can influence your experience. May and June are rather quiet on the lake. We enjoy these months for the pre-summer serenity. Temps start to heat up and things are starting to come alive. July and August bring on the summer fun! Boaters, fishermen, jet skiers, and kayakers are in their glory. Local farms are open and there is a plethora of things you can do at the cabin or within the region. The weekends are busier and more lively than the week days during these months, so if you seek serenity, week days are your better bet. I love the fall and September and October at the cabin are wonderful! The air is cool and there is so much to do locally, from pumpkin picking to apple picking and even a hot air balloon festival! No matter the season, the setting is simply beautiful and relaxing.
What makes this property unique
The cabin is truly a lakefront property set just feet away from the lake. The deck and balcony provide great views and multiple spaces to enjoy the outdoors. The open concept main living space allow for great family time or ease of conversation while meal prepping. The cabin decor sets the mood for your Adirondack adventures!
