If you are looking for a simple, serene place in an ideal location, look no further. The owners have thought of all the small details that were important to us - comfortable bed, chairs for reading, seating on the patio, and coffee, eggs, and homemade bread and jam for breakfast. The hosts were friendly and responded immediately when we had a question. We hope to be back one day!
A very enjoyable stay with delicious breakfasts. The location was good with respect to walking access to Ganges for provisions and restaurants. Being dog friendly was a must for us.
I organized this trip as a Christmas present for my partner and we had a blast exploring the island and relaxing in the suite. A great location and a lovely stay!
Our stay was everything we were hoping for - it was private, close to amenities, clean, the host was exceptional - friendly, helpful and the loaf of fresh baked bread from the bakery was a beautiful touch. Exactly as described and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed the lovely bread, jam and breakfast fixings - much appreciated! Very comfortable bed. Would be nice in the summer when you could use the patio!
Very short walk into Ganges village. Hosts are an amazing couple. Our suite had fresh flowers on the table, eggs and fresh orange juice and homemade jam in the fridge. Fresh loaf of bread from the Frances Bakery’s wood fired oven dropped off in the morning . Great way to start the day!

Thanks for your kind words. A pleasure to have hosted you both. Nick & Celia
Great location close to the town centre. Wifi a bit flaky and bed very squeaky. Breakfast provisions including delicious sour dough bread, were a nice touch!
Peaceful location within easy walking distance of Ganges town centre, close to pretty much anything you’d like to do on Salt Spring Island. Suite is spacious and well appointed, filled with excellent art, comfortable and extremely clean. Communications with the hosts were seamless. Bonus: excellent breakfast and the bread at on site Francis Bakery.
This cottage is walkable into Ganges and provides a good base for exploring Salt Spring Island. The kind provision of eggs, homemade jam and the excellent bread were very welcome. Thank you. Francis Bread and a few other local deli type shops are just up the main road and are excellent. Lovely hosts that chatted when we saw them.
A lovely location close enough to walk to town. Wonderful touches of fresh bread, eggs, milk etc. everything you need for breakfast. The eggs were hard boiled to take on our hikes. I loved falling asleep listening to the frogs in the nearby pond.
Thank you.
A wonderful spot.
We were greeted with a wonderful loaf of bread from Francis Bakery, homemade jam, homemade orange juice, granola cereal, fresh eggs, butter, milk, tea, coffee and beautiful bouquet of flowers left on the kitchen table; now that’s amazing and thoughtful! Our unit was clean and quiet with your private terrace and bbq surrounded by the owners lovely backyard with fruit trees and vegetable gardens. Walking distance to Ganges, shops and restaurants. Our only drawback was the bed; regrettably not comfortable and very squeaky.

Liked: Cleanliness, location
Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
Nice spot, but not secluded
We thought this was going to be a secluded cottage property (based on listing description and pics), but it was actually part of a larger building/house which had other tenants staying. Due to the age of the building, it was very easy to hear other people talking, making noise, and lots of natural creaks and sounds which would startle our dog.
Nice property, but definitely not reflective of the pictures or description.

So sorry it was a bit noisy over the weekend; we had the grandkids here. Celia
This was our first visit to Salt Spring Island. The Island has a lot to offer!
Pros:
Rural setting within easy walking distance to town.
Breakfast food and coffee were provided.
Delicious fresh bread from the local bakery.
Fresh flowers were a nice welcome gift.
Bed was comfortable but as noted by another guest,
the bed squeaks.
The outdoor patio and grill were nice but the weather prevented us from using it.
Cons:
It would be helpful to have access to a coffee maker and a microwave.
The washer and dryer are shared so we choose to do some hand laundry.
We spent our time hiking Daffodil Point and Mount Erskine, dined out two evenings ( Moby’s Tavern and Auntie Pesto’s- made patio reservations for the latter) and enjoyed a drink at the Hastings House.
We also visited some of the numerous art galleries, browsed at the Saturday Market, watched the busy sea planes and explored different parts of the Island. The Country Grocer was the best place to buy additional food items.
For anyone who is concerned about getting to Victoria’s airport, we found the Web Cam at Fulford Harbor to be very helpful.
This property ticked many boxes. Our dog was welcome, and she had lots of area around the property to enjoy, it was easy walking distance to a dog friendly pub, its in a quiet spot yet easy to find, the walk in to the centre of Ganges was about 10 minutes and it was so nice not to drive. An added bonus was the delicious breakfast goodies. We were very comfortable and enjoy a few days of total relaxation. Highly recommended.
The gallery suite made for a relaxing and pleasant vacation. We appreciated the delicious selection of local foods for breakfast and the quiet woodland surrounding. The location is ideal for a short walk to Churchill Beach or to the market in Ganges.

About the host
Hosted by Celia Duthie
I have been married for more than 30 years to my dear husband Nicholas Hunt. We have 2 wonderful children. Much of our life was spent in the book business in Vancouver; now we have a gallery, sculpture park & on-site bakery. We love to cook, eat, walk, read, garden and play bridge.
Why they chose this property
We chose our location because it is a very pretty property and lovely cottage; we are close to Ganges so we and the kids can walk there and our gallery is also within walking distance for boaters.
What makes this property unique
Visitors to the Gallery B&B will enjoy the art and studio furniture in the suite, the landscape art and sculpture on the property and the original artwork in the Duthie Gallery. As hosts we can recommend restaurants, studios and excursions, and provide maps of trails for hikes and rambles.
The suite is completely private, with a private entrance; guests will feel they're in their own place while staying with us at the Gallery B &B.
The kitchen is well equipped for gourmet cooking and when in season fresh greens and vegetables from the garden will also be available.
With our background in books, and being serious readers ourselves, there is always a good supply of current books and magazines available in the suite.
Visitors to our Gallery B&B suite will also enjoy its close proximity to Ganges village, Churchill beach and, for lavish dining, the Hastings House hotel, directly across the street.
