About this property

The Thunderbird Room - Wander Inn

The Thunderbird Room has two queen size beds with custom made JG headboards in a neutral desert color scheme, a beaded chandelier and a vintage caramel leather Chesterfield sofa. And our original salvaged campfire art from our HGTV show is showcased in the bathroom.

A set of French doors lead out onto the balcony with your own rocking chairs which allows for a perfect view of the sunset and the longhorns.

This room also has pine floors throughout, a Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, the ranch-style corrugated metal shower, rainfall shower head, your own record player, vintage table fan and a mini-fridge.
This room is upstairs in the Crown House where you share the great room with the other 3 rooms in the building. This house is built in the traditional Ranch-style dog-run or dog-trot layout, where there is a breezeway through the center of the house to allow for extra cooling during the summer months.

Everyone has access to our outdoor areas (65 acres), gas firepits, Adirondack chairs, bicycles & stock tank Cowboy Pools!

The great room is upstairs and features our grand blue velvet sectional, a gas fireplace and our 1950s IDEAL sign. The feature wall in the great room is made of beadboard salvaged from the Mt Calvary Church in Round Top, and a kitchenette entirely built out of salvage components. You’ll also find a coffee table made out of a vintage drum and stacks and stacks of great books for your stay.

There is a common kitchenette area with a mini-fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. We ask that you do not cook in these kitchens are they are not equipped for cooking, but are fine for snacks and drinks

Great location, convenient check in, yummy biscuits in the morning. Bathroom is outdated (tiniest toilet I’ve sat on in awhile), had a GIANT cockroach in the shower and cobwebs in corners. I’m from Texas, I grew up on a ranch, I know bugs - but these two inch flying roaches are a sign of bigger issues behind the walls and in the pipes. YukOverall about the level of a 2 star hotel for accommodations.I do appreciate the 20% discount on stay for the cockroach encounter. Would not stay again but 10/10 recommend the biscuits and location.
