Oceanfront Condo - See Whales in Season Right From the Balcony!

Welcome to Papakea! Located between the Kaanapali and Kapalua world-class golf resorts, and just minutes from beaches, shops, and restaurants, Papakea is a 13-acre oceanfront resort that embodies the true aloha spirit of Maui.

There are two private pools, two Jacuzzis, direct beachfront access, a cabana, three lighted tennis courts, two shuffleboard courts, two 18-hole putting greens, Koi ponds, lush gardens, and 12 outdoor barbecues. The resort also has an Activity Desk. For the sports enthusiast, the golf courses of Kapalua and Kaanapali are nearby, and so are beaches great for snorkeling and boogie-boarding. Alternatively, take your time walking the miles of soft sandy beaches.

Our condo is fully remodeled and re-furnished with granite counters.

Our second-floor, 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo is directly oceanfront with a private lanai in the sought-after 'L' Building. Nothing but blue sky and ocean! One of the rare 2-bedroom/2-bathroom units where the Master Bedroom faces the ocean. The unit is air-conditioned and also has ceiling fans in all the bedrooms. We offer free wireless Internet access. Sip a cocktail on the lanai and enjoy the beautiful views of the neighboring islands of Lanai and Molokai. Parking is conveniently located near the building, and both the elevator and stairs are nearby.

The living area features ample seating, as well as satellite TV, a VCR/DVD player, and a stereo with a CD player. There is a table with seating for four on the private lanai. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, cooking utensils, dishwasher, refrigerator, oven, microwave, and coffee maker. The unit also has its own washer and dryer.

As renters ourselves for years, we have drawn on our experiences to think of everything possible to make your stay comfortable. The oceanfront master bedroom features a king-size bed and ample dresser and closet space. It offers a full ocean view, and the bathroom features a shower/tub combination and a separate vanity area.

The second bedroom also features a king-sized bed and ample closet space. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and a separate vanity area.

There is a queen-sized pull-out sofa in the living room for extra guests. All linens, including beach towels, are provided. We also have beach chairs and an ice chest that can be taken to neighboring sandy beaches. Papakea has a sea wall and a grassy lounging area overlooking the ocean. There are many sandy beaches within walking and short driving distances.

The State of Hawaii requires us to post our Department of Taxation Registration number, which is W50156142-01. Our on-island contact is Maui Rentals and Realty, LLC, located at 1087 Limahana Pl., Lahaina. Please do not contact them for booking.

Amazing Trip

The property was wonderful, right on the ocean. Very clean and in a good location. It was awesome watching the whales off our balcony and listening to the waves all day and all night. Would stay here again.!

We had a lovely time. Unit has a spectacular view… the whale watching was phenomenal!!! The area is perfect for morning walks and eating establishments! I would recommend this unit for a relaxing and invigorating stay. We ourselves are returning in 2025!!

My family of five had an awesome time in Maui. The condo was in the perfect location and we saw whales pretty much every day from the lanai. The owners were very responsive to any questions during the reservation processes. Mahalo!

Maui is the best and we had an awesome stay! Amazing ocean views from the main living room and the master bed room. So close you can hear the ocean. Ocean and Beach access was a few minute walk. Mahalo and we will be back!

Great condo with amazing ocean view. Location was close to everything -- grocery, shopping, beach, etc. The only downside for our stay was the guest bed A/C was not working. Otherwise, this was perfect. Everything you need is there! We would stay here again for sure!

Maui Paradise

If you can lay in your bed and listen to the waves, then you’re in paradise as far as we’re concerned!! Great location so close to ocean. The condo was as described and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Even did some cooking as the restaurant’s were all totally booked…I don’t think they were ready for the influx of tourists again! Would stay here again !

The grounds were very nice and the waterfront unit is spacious, well stocked with beach gear and home amenities with excellent beach access, local shopping and easy walking distance to the other resorts in the area. Spectacular ocean and Island views anytime of the day from this unit!

Great Views

This condo had wonderful views and easy access to the pool! We had many wonderful mornings and evenings on the private lanai listening to the Pacific Ocean and enjoying the gentle warm breezes. Unfortunately the elevator didn't work which was a hardship for my mom who was ill. Manager said it would be fixed within a couple days but never was. Melenie went out of her way to make up for this inconvenience which we really appreciated!

Two wonderful weeks in Lahaina

We very much enjoyed our stay in this wonderful condo on Maui. The first three nights we stayed at another condo in the complex as L205 was not available for the entire stay. Although we could enjoy all the facilities and had a partial ocean view in our first unit, the second was an amazing upgrade. Watching the beautiful sunsets from the lanai every night, falling asleep listening to the ocean waves, and enjoying the wonderful condo made this stay terrific. We whale watched, dolphin watched, Haleakala at sunset, the complete road to Hana, and snorkelled to our heart's content with turtles and all the wonderful reef fish. There were ten of us in our family group and we would all return in a heart beat if possible. Highly recommended

We enjoyed 10 days in paradise, mostly in part to our great selection to rent unit L205! We are frequent visitors to Maui and always stay at Papakea. This unit was new to us, and has become our new favorite! We had friends staying in other units in/around Papakea during the same week and we were by far the envy of everyone and quickly became the gathering place for cocktails with a180 degree view of the sunset before heading out. We were so pleasantly surprised by how well stocked the unit was with beach chairs, cooler, snorkel gear and carry bag, beach toys for kids, beach towels. And the kitchen had everything we needed with high end cookware, appliances, tupperware, dishes, cutlery, etc. (except for measuring spoons, but we joked about how we were roughing it). Guests had left a vast selection of spices and condiments that saved us big $ at the grocery store. This floor plan is unique in having the master bedroom facing the ocean to be able to hear the crashing waves at night. And having A/C in BOTH bedrooms and the Living Room is a huge bonus. I highly recommend this rental, just not the week we want to come back, please ;-)

Beautiful view but old condo

We enjoyed the beautiful ocean views. However during our 10 day vacation, we kept finding a large pool of water under the master bedroom carpeting. We called the manager a couple of times and when the workers came the day before our checkout, they discovered that drainage water from the upstairs bathroom was the reason for the big puddle in our bedroom. We were literally stepping on another unit's bathroom water throughout our stay. No wonder I got sick half way through our vacation. I made my family leave Old Lahaina Luau early because I wasn't feeling well. The manager and the resort people did nothing for us. They just left our unit and had the plumbers get to work when we checked out the next morning. I can't imagine what that disgusting carpeting would look like if we haven't told them about the water. The 1st floor condo below us was probably affected too.

Amazing!

We had an amazing vacation and staying in this condo played a big part in that. It's located in a quiet area. Very clean, very well equipped, spacious, nicely decorated, beautiful and well maintained grounds, and most importantly, the spectacular view! We ate most of our meals out on the lanai - no restaurant could offer us a view like that - the ocean, colourful rainbows in the morning, and beautiful sunsets. There is a beach just a few minutes walking south of the condo. We enjoy walking so we often made our way to the Ka'anapali North beach (near the Eldorado) which took about 20-25 minutes - water is so clear, turquoise blue, and you can snorkelling at the end along the sea wall - we saw turtles, beautiful fish, interesting fish, and what we think was an octopus! We also walked the "Beach Walk" which is a path that brings you to Ka'anapali Beach/Black Rock/Whaler's Village. This takes approximately 40-45 minutes (one way) but it's a nice walk along the water. This condo is conveniently located near grocery stores, farmers market, and eateries - the Fish Market is a must! Great ( and inexpensive) breakfast at Ono Kau Kau Mixed Plate just outside of the resort! It was a wonderful 3 weeks!! Great place to stay

This condo was so great for our family. It had enough space, a very well stocked kitchen (always nice to not have to buy coffee filters for example). It was very clean. The best parts of it IMO are: This is ocean front - not beach front - the views are spectacular and sitting on the balcony at sunset, sunrise, just watching the whales - it was amazing. I will say the ocean is LOUD - maybe the only downside is you will 100% hear it in the master bedroom at night even if you close the windows - it takes some getting used to just how loud it is. So if you are a light sleeper maybe bring ear plugs. Secondly, the grounds and amenities were great. Third, there were so many things we could walk to that made the trip easy - the food trucks (we would often just get food for dinner there and then eat on the balcony watching the sunset, slappy cakes, a grocery store, etc. We loved staying here as did our kids. It was just all very easy. Thank you for the great stay!

Loved the view but not the condo

We were not excited about the kitchen pests or the smell in the kitchen when we first got there. We cleaned the counters and by the next day, the odd smell was gone. The pests were a recurrent thing. I think it’s to be expected in Hawaii. We ended up keeping our dry goods stored in the oven and microwave for piece of mind. The other issue was the loud noise in the master bedroom from the slatted windows. I read the reviews from previous vacationers so I knew there would be noise from the waves. Just didn’t expect it to be as loud as a freight train. It might not be as bad in summer or on less windy/rainy nights. The condo itself was a great location. The furniture was comfortable. And that view. Breathtaking every morning! We saw so many whales. I could have sat on the lanai all day whale watching. Can’t rave enough about the view. If your priority is whale watching, this is the condo for you. If you prefer a good nights rest or are a sensitive sleeper, you might think twice.

A perfect week with the whales

Perfect location for whale watching in January. One morning while we were having breakfast on the lanai we saw one slap its tail 21 times. The apartment is just as advertised. Everything was easy.

Love this condo!

This is our 3rd time staying here and we love it. The ocean view is awesome and we saw whales every day. Great location (walking distance to a grocery store and restaurants). The grounds at the Papakea Resort (where the condo is located) are very well kept.

Great Accomodations

Right on the waterfront. Could hear the waves from everyone in the condo. Spacious and clean. Plenty of beach activity equipment for use in the condo. Parking was easy. Overall great stay Only disappointment was no real beach or snorkeling on the premises. Water was too rough for kids in this location.

Why they chose this property

We have traveled the world, including every continent except Antarctica, and our favorite place in the whole world is the ocean-front at Papakea. So we bought a condo there.

What makes this property unique

We love getting up in the morning, making a cup of coffee, and sitting on our Lanai. We just read or gaze out over the blue waters and the full views of Molokai and Lanai and enjoy the ocean breeze and the sounds of the surf some 60 feet from us. We come every February, so the whales are here. They put on a show for us every day while we drink our coffee. The place has everything we need, pools, and tennis. We like making our own breakfast and lunch, and then we go out to dinner every night. There are tons of great restaurants just a short drive from the place. Nobody comes to bother you unless you ask them to.
