➣Since this cabin is in the woods, you will see bugs, bees, scorpions, millipedes, lady bugs and all sorts of critters. We do have the cabin on a strict pest control schedule but it's impossible to eliminate all insects.
➣You might encounter bears. These are wild and dangerous animals so please do not approach them or feed them. Do not leave your car doors open, even when going inside the cabin for just a few minutes.
➣Always lock your car – bears have been known to open car doors. Some have even died inside vehicles.
➣Always dispose all trash in the bear-proof receptacle outside the cabin. Leaving trash out on the porch is asking for trouble.

[NEIGHBORHOOD DESCRIPTION
This cabin is located in the quiet Wears Valley area.
Wears Valley is a scenic and historically significant region located in Sevier County. The area has a rich history that dates back to the early 19th century. Here's a brief overview of the history of Wears Valley:
1. Settlement and Early Years:
Wears Valley was initially settled by European-Americans in the early 1800s. The valley was named after Samuel Wear, a prominent frontiersman who arrived in the area around 1792. He and other settlers were attracted to the valley's fertile soil, abundant water sources, and lush forests.
2. Agricultural Development:
The valley's fertile land proved ideal for farming, and agriculture became the primary occupation of the early settlers. They cultivated crops such as corn, wheat, and potatoes, and raised livestock to sustain their livelihoods. Due to the valley's isolation, the residents largely lived a self-sufficient lifestyle.
3. Tourism and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park:
The establishment of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 1934 had a significant impact on Wears Valley. The park, which encompasses parts of Tennessee and North Carolina, attracted tourists and nature enthusiasts to the region. Wears Valley's proximity to the national park led to increased visitation and the development of tourism-related businesses, such as lodging, restaurants, and souvenir shops.
4. Modern Development:
In more recent decades, Wears Valley has experienced continued growth in tourism and residential development. The valley's picturesque landscapes and proximity to popular attractions, including Dollywood and Gatlinburg, have made it a sought-after destination for tourists and second-homeowners.
[GETTING AROUND]
All the attractions in the area are easily accessible by car. The back roads are windy and we encourage you to plan your arrival before dark.
