It was a beautiful house with an amazing Mountain View. The house was clean and the host was quick to answer any questions we had! An overall lovely experience!
Wonderful property with stunning views. Really enjoyed the hot tub and being able to watch a bear snack on the berries located off the side of the deck. Always enjoy Black Mountain.
A truly beautiful and unique stay, with views that cannot be beat. The property is wonderfully laid out, and easy to live in. Ask for more information if you have a very very small car. But morning tea on the deck watching the clouds roll in over the valley is a once in a lifetime view! We will be back!
The home was very cozy and decorated for Christmas! The home is very updated and nice! The walking paths nearby were just long enough. Would definitely stay here again!
This property is absolutely amazing. I saw reviews from others about the road leading you to the house but it is what is to be expected for a property with the amazing views that this one has. The kitchen has everything you need as well as some extras that I didn’t expect. Coffee pods, snacks, water bottles in the fridge. The hot tub is huge and just perfect. If you’re looking for pure serenity this place has an abundance of it. We are already looking at dates to book again. We have rented properties all over Western NC and this is by far my favorite.

Communication could be better, access to home is difficult terrain and tight road, overall great experience. Beautiful area
Very welcoming, quiet location as remote as you could want! Road is extremely rough, so be prepared to take it slow if you don’t want to damage a low riding car.
We had a great stay at the Wandering Bear. While the road coming in isn’t for the faint of heart, and we were happy to say we never met an oncoming vehicle, once we arrived at the house, it was very well worth it. This was easily the most well stocked unit we have ever rented, from the kitchen to the bathroom, everything was very well thought out. There was no lack of utensils or kitchen needs, they even supplied cute disposable coffee cups (along with a multitude of coffees, teas, and creamers). If you’re traveling with littles, there was a pack’n play, high chair, and booster seat, along with many games, and some outdoor toys. The hot tub was in excellent condition, very clean and well kept, as well as the fire pit. I will say the trees have grown up a bit and block a little of the views but not enough to dock the ratings and I also don’t know how they would even manage to trim them with the slope of the mountain. The host was very accessible through text, and even gave us a heads up before check-in of some issues with the microwave, offering to bring in a replacement if needed. Cute decor, cute setup, we would definitely come back to the Wandering Bear as well as recommend it to others.
