By far the most interesting and unique place we've stayed so far!
This stay was great from start to finish. The hosts were super helpful and welcoming. The whole property is amazing. The decor is an eclectic blend of collectibles from all over the world. The unit was clean, organized and well stocked. The beds were comfortable and there was a smart TV in both bedrooms and the living room, and bidets in both bathrooms. We had our own washer and dryer to use whenever we liked and the stove, oven, microwave and fridge were all clean and worked well. We didn't use the dry sauna but it was there if we wanted to. The hot tub was clean and the private deck has a fire table, BBQ and outdoor kitchen and overlooks the neighbour's pasture with beautiful views of deer and a horse. We had access to the huge back part of the property that was original forested land with trails that provided a place to take serene strolls and would be perfect for anyone who likes to meditate in nature. It was such a treat to hear the birds and see the squirrels around the unit. The hosts were always accessible and went out of their way to make sure every part of our stay was enjoyable. They are currently working on several projects around this huge property that are sure to make the setting even more beautiful in the future. This property and its hosts definitely earned the 5 star rating we gave it.

The space
The property is on a 5 acre private estate that is super secure and private. We've named it 'Calm Chaos', to match the personalities and activities that seem to appear as city meets country engaged in actively transforming this part of the planet we now live.

What do you get when you combine two generations of world travelers and collectors with a tech founder with a creative bent whose creations have literally changed the world?

AKA - Every time you text someone or watch an online video - someone had to invent or globally launch what was once science fiction...

In addition, knowing one's past has a way of defining who you are today:

Our tech founder resident is a direct descendant of a medieval times "Hero Of France" and the great grandson of the now Hollywood famous - King Louis XIII of France "The Lion" and short lived "King of England".

"I often wonder what great grand dad would have said when I told him I launched SMS to the world in a time when no one knew what it's potential was."

The collision of unique and strong personalities has created a truly magical, eclectic and thought-provoking experience at every turn of this expansive property.

Why they chose this property

It's a unique blend of rural combined with big city access. The property was an old neglecte estate that no one wanted so perfect for our personalities. Maple Bay is a 40 minute float plane flight from Vancouver, Victoria and Nanaium are less than an hour drive in the middle.

What makes this property unique

The property is situated between a 40+ horse farm and a large private 68 acre estate. Across the road is 150+ acres so our 5 acre property seems larger. The property is truly unique and private. A large fence, medieval gate and cameras meet you. Once inside there are unique antiquities and collectibles from auction and world travels tranforming the property into a private park front and back.

This property is located in rural BC on a 5-acre estate between a 40+ acre horse farm and 68 acre estate in a west coast rain forest climate zone. In summary this is on the agriculture farm reserve and a hobby farm in a rural, serine country setting. There is farm and construction equipment. There may be noise from a loader, back hoe, mini excavator, ride on lawn mower or side by side for property maintenance and projects but not excessive. It is possible, but not likely, to see garter snakes, lizards, vermin, racoons, feral cats, and other wild animals like the resident deer and the black bear that comes in the early summer in the back forest, as well as all kinds of bugs including, but not limited to, horse flies, ants, honeybees, wasps, mosquitoes, chiggers, ticks, etc. on the property. The odd mouse may get into the guest house if you leave the doors open as the resident cats on the property my want to make friends and come for a visit. Additionally poisonous plants such as poison ivy, oak, sumac, stinging needle, black berry bushes are common if you venture into the forest and on the property. etc.
