Overall - just ok
The first three days at the property were quite difficult. We couldn’t spend much time there because the power was out for nearly half the day, making it unbearably hot inside—and since the water system relied on electricity, that was out too. We were completely unprepared. My dad couldn’t charge his hearing aids, so communication was incredibly challenging. We also couldn’t charge our phones or access Wi-Fi to look up places to go. We didn’t have bottled water yet, and we couldn’t even shower before heading out.Trying to communicate with the property manager added to the frustration—calls were hard to hear, and if the connection dropped, we didn’t receive a follow-up call or even a text. We ended up spending significantly more money during those first three days just trying to stay comfortable elsewhere. It was far from the relaxing vacation we had envisioned.It would have been helpful if the listing mentioned that power outages were a possibility—even though we were told afterward that outages like this are uncommon. Still, it was disappointing that no compensation was offered for such a stressful start to our stay. I understand that the outage wasn’t the owner’s fault, but if I had guests at my own vacation home and something beyond anyone’s control disrupted their stay to this extent, I would certainly want to do something reasonable to make it right.Fortunately, the following few days—once the power stayed on—were everything we had hoped for.
