About this property

Downtown Craftsman-Style Home (Sleeps 4)

This beautiful craftsman-style bungalow was built in early 1900's and is located in the heart of San Luis Obispo's famous downtown. In less than a five-minute walk, you can enjoy all of SLO's shopping, restaurants, live music, and the historic Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa.

The upstairs unit has 2 bedrooms, one bathroom, with a full kitchen and living room. The house is located on a charming street, with many stately historic homes. Nearby amenities include: downtown shopping, restaurants, and bars (4 blocks), convenience/deli store (1 block), train station (3 blocks), sandwiches (2 blocks) and a coffee shop (2 blocks).

Homestay Certificate No: 116128

The train station is 3 blocks away and is a very easy walk to the house.
Cal Poly is a 5 minute drive, or a nice bus ride (the bus stop is across the street).
It is very easy to get to our house from Highway 101.
The beach is a 12-minute drive away.

The downtown closes every Thursday evening for one of the best Farmer's Markets. Enjoy fresh produce, BBQ food, live music, and all kinds of other wonderful things.

Please note that the VRBO rental space is the complete upstairs. We live in the bottom floor. The rental space sleeps 4. It is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, living room, kitchen, and dining room. Each bedroom and the main living area has air conditioner units for those occasional hot days.

Easy Peasy and very Pleased!
We highly recommend. The property was in an easy to access location, was very comfortable, with all the amenities we needed/wanted. The check-in process was very easy, with a personal note on the chalkboard when we arrived. Great plants all around the house, very cute decor. Plenty of fun things to do in the house (games, movies, books, musical instruments), as well as in the local area. If I could suggest anything for other travelers to know: 1. It's a college town and both nights there were loud parties in the neighborhood. Bring your ear plugs/white noise app if you have trouble sleeping with loud noise outside. We didn't want to close the windows as the cool nights are so lovely! 2. There are stairs to climb (a few with no hand rail to get into the house) and then a steeper stairwell inside to get to the upstairs unit. My mother is 82 and has two replaced knees and was a bit nervous about them, but we did it. If you have little kids/strollers, etc, you might want to consider that too. 3. One of the beds was very low and my Mom didn't feel like she would be able t get in and out very easily so she had to sleep in the other bed, which was very fine and comfortable for her. These are not complaints! The place and the host were great. Just good to know for other people!

Such a great place to stay!
Homey, comfortable, well maintained apartment with everything we needed, within walking distance of downtown. We loved the collection of books, games, records and dvd’s, And Tony is a great host, very responsive to any questions or concerns, and he even put out extra umbrellas for us to borrow as it was pouring while we were there. We will definitely be back!

About the host

Host profile image
Our family has lived in SLO over 20 years and enjoy living here very much. It is child-friendly. This is our family's primary residence and we limit the number of visitors. When it is not rented, we are always working on home improvement projects. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We are located downtown SLO! A refreshing breeze wafts in from the Pacific, just 10 miles away. There's no need for a car, since the downtown is infinitely walkable.

What makes this property unique

This is a relatively quiet neighborhood. It's far enough from the downtown restaurants and bars so that you don't hear the noise.
