About this property
"Loon Cottage" on Sand Pond -
Peaceful Lakefront Getaway
Loon Cottage offers comfort, natural beauty, seclusion, and relaxation! Located down a private lane of seldom-used, vintage Maine camps, our cottage sits just steps from serene Sand Pond, with a private dock and lake frontage. The camp has been completely updated with new windows, new appliances, new linens, and fresh paint. The open layout includes a large kitchen, dining area, plenty of lounging space, two bedrooms and one full bath with an efficiency washer and dryer. Enjoy the wide lake views, water-side deck, picnic table, gas grill, dock, canoe and kayak! Guests will have access to a newly-built shed with oars and life vests (child and adult sizes), as well as high-speed internet. Sand Pond encompasses 61 acres, where the loons and turtles are more common than motor boats, and the sandy bottom makes for great swimming. The village of Cornish lies a short drive west, with antique shops, popular restaurants, and supermarket; to the east lies Sebago Lake and its popular summertime attractions. Excursions of an hour or less lead to Portland's Old Port, hiking trails in the White Mountains, or outlet shopping in North Conway, NH. Please note the limit of one dog per reservation. We highly recommend bringing your own drinking water. Well water in our area is potable but heavily mineralized, doesn’t taste great, and is slightly discolored.

The cabin is fantastic! The view is beautiful, we enjoyed the kayak and the canoe. The guys caught so much fish every day . The cabin had everything we needed ,it was very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend Loon cabin.
Enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was clean and comfortable for the four of us. Setting was mostly quiet and relaxing. Location was great for us-went to Bayview Beach one day (they allow dogs) and to North Conway on the cloudy day. Would definitely stay again. Also, owner was great on communication.
Loon Cottage was an amazing get away. Location on the pond was perfect, quiet and the view from the cottage and dock amazing. We found the cottage exactly as described , very clean and had everything we needed for a perfect week away. The only negative was the swimming spot had a lot of old leaves underneath the water, but we raked them away and found perfect sand to walk on.
This home was lovely! We settled in immediately and relaxed. It has everything you need and was very clean. The pond was perfect for fishing, kayaking canoeing and paddle boarding. Lisa & Erik were great. I would definitely recommend vacationing here!
Had a great week at the cabin. All things the owner could control were good as promised. The cabin is very nicely appointed with pictures and fixtures you would expect to see at such a place. The grounds are well kept and the dock was in god shape. The only thing keeping this from a five star is weather which they couldn’t control. If I saw it in 75 and sunny I am sure I would have said a five.
The cabin was very clean when we arrived. The beds were very comfortable. The cabin has everything you need including many things in the kitchen to make meals if you want to. Towels, sheets, blankets, and swim towels were also provided. We enjoyed using the paddle boards and paddle boats. The pond was great for swimming and boating. The cabin has windows on all sides so we enjoyed lots of fresh air. It was also very quiet, restful, and peaceful on the pond.
This cottage was lovely! Neat and clean with simple non-cluttery decor. It has everything you need. We loved being so close to the water, where we spent most of our time. Kitchen had space in cabinets for our food. Loved that there wasn't a bunch of old, random leftover stuff in the fridge or cabinets. Great fishing on the pond, ice cream nearby. Perfect getaway! Host was responsive; great communication. They take great care of this property. We would definitely go back.
The property was immaculate and well maintained and reflected significant pride of ownership...all very positive and welcoming. Major disappointment was learning two days before our arrival of a suggestion to provide your own drinking water. Probably something that should have been disclosed in listing as it could be a factor in deciding to rent. Moreover, given this suggestion re drinking water, it would have been a very welcome gesture to have a gallon or two available at check in.Would also recommend addressing drainage in bathtub. It was very slow and required you to stand in shower water as you were showering...unappealing at best and possibly unhealthy at worst.

Thank you, B., for your stay and valuable feedback! We're sorry the tub drain got clogged up - we have cleared it and modified our cleaning checklist to ensure it is routinely cleaned out. We have also edited our listing description to include the drinking water suggestion there. Sorry that info did not get to you in a timely manner. We did notice that you used two different VRBO accounts for your booking and subsequent communication - it appears you were only seeing our correspondence to one of them. Thanks again!
The vast majority of the property was lovely and the hosts were fantastic. I had a minor mishap and they immediately jumped in to help. The house was very clean, the views were lovely (great sunsets), nicely stocked kitchen, plenty of outdoorsy things in the shed and the bedding was good. A couple of minor things keep this from becoming a perfect property....the couch is very old...it's lost all of its 'spring', very low to the round and not very comfortable....which is odd because the owners took great care with the rest of the furnishing, inside and out. The tub is very slow to drain. You can, at times, hear the road noise from the nearby state highway, mostly trucks in the morning. And there is a neighbor quite nearby on the left side. They were only there during a small portion of my stay, but when they were, privacy was definitely diminished. But that being said, I'd stay again in a heartbeat (once the couch is replaced :))
