About this property
Enchanting 1915 farmhouse on 5 serene acres
About this space
Escape to this tranquil and tastefully renovated farmhouse nestled on five peaceful, private acres. Just 36 miles south of Nashville, this picturesque retreat offers just what you'd expect in a historic Tennessee farmhouse: large rooms, wide hallways and high ceilings—complemented by all the modern conveniences, including a fully equipped chef's kitchen. Enjoy gentle breezes from the spacious porch as trains roll by. Unplug, unwind, and create lasting memories in this idyllic rural haven.
The space
Warm and inviting, this quintessential, historic Tennessee farmhouse features three bedrooms, two full baths (one en-suite), a light-filled sunroom, and two wide hallways. Many of the home's unique features are original, including windows, hardwood floors, and built-in cupboards. The well-equipped dream kitchen includes a six-burner gas stove, large island with seating for four, two sinks, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. The large dining room table comfortably seats eight. Picturesque views can be found from every room. Furnishings are mostly vintage, and more than a dozen handmade quilts adorn the walls. The house enjoys fast Wi-Fi and a TV with Roku (but no cable). Oh, and you'll find a guitar and a banjo, in case the mood should strike you.
Outside, a classic wraparound porch spans two sides of the house, with two swings and ample additional seating from which you can soak up the tranquility of the rural environs. Across the road are railroad tracks that lend a unique charm. (Be forewarned that freight trains can run day or night, but earplugs are provided if needed!)
The Nashville airport and downtown Nashville are an easy 45-minute drive. Franklin, Columbia, and a number of charming small towns are even a shorter drive away. Arrington Vineyards, Henry Horton State Park and the Duck River are but a few of the nearby attractions offering myriad opportunities to explore and enjoy.
Guest access
All 2,500 square feet of living area are situated on one floor, with just a single step up to the porch. (Yes, it looks like two stories from the outside, but the upstairs is inaccessible.) You are free roam the entire property, but please stay out of the outbuildings (especially children).
Other things to note
To help preserve the character and uniqueness of this property (remember, it's more than 100 years old!), we expect our guests to treat it gently. No pets; no parties; no smoking; and please leave your shoes at the door. No fires in fireplaces—they're for aesthetics only.
Also note: We stay at the house as often as we can—and block dates accordingly—but sometimes our plans can be flexible. So if dates you are interested in are blocked, feel free to contact me to let me know your plans, and I can let you know if there's any flexibility to accommodate you.
We recently completed a new barn on the outskirts of the property where we will occasionally be staying. The barn isn't visible from the house—and in fact has a separate driveway and address—so we will not infringe on your privacy.
