About this property

When my husband Bob and I purchased this property 13 years ago, we knew it was just too beautiful not to share. The ocean and mountain vistas are like no other. The most common comment we receive is 'Wow, what a million dollar view'.

We are situated on seven acres set in a private and peaceful setting. Our home is truly a great place to relax and enjoy the amazing views from the hot tub or gazebo on your private deck accessible from your private room entrance. Enjoy the spacious bathroom equipped with towels, misc. bath needs and comfy bath robes. Enjoy breakfast at your leisure in your room where fresh fruit, coffee, tea, ham or Canadian back bacon, eggs, cheese, homemade bread and preserves are provided for you to prepare at your leisure.

This is much more than a bed and breakfast. Many of our guest choose to treat it as a destination, taking time to relax and wind down. The gazebo and hot tub are yours to use exclusively during your visit. There is a BBQ provided which has been very popular. Your dishes are whisked away from behind the magic door (you have to check in for the rest of that story) and returned dishwasher cleaned.

If you choose to venture out, there are several hiking trails, wineries, fabulous restaurants, lakes and ocean beaches close by including the spectacular Malahat Sky Walk just 1.5 kilometers south. Mill Bay (about 5 minutes north) has shops, liquor store, Thrifty foods, Pharmasave and many other amenities.

The magical Malahat

This was the most beautiful place and one that will remain close to our hearts. My partner chose the breathtaking views to propose to me and we couldn’t have been happier to enjoy our stay infront of the propane fire pit drinking red wine overlooking Vancouver and the USA in the distance. Top that off with a hot spa, bacon and eggs for breakfast and a relaxing sleep in a huge king bed - there wasn’t anything I could say badly about this beautiful place and hospitality. Highly recommend to anyone and already have two friends booked the week after we got home.

Beyond belief!

I knew in my gut the moment I saw this place that it was going to be special, and that is so an understatement. Char and Bob have created such a magical cross sector of luxury, comfort and such a cool space to take in all that glorious nature! We felt so spoiled and truly felt like we got to relax! We loved the indoor space with a comfy bed, heated floors, a magic door for all your dishes, an automatic curtain to wake up and press a button to watch sunrises from bed- so many thoughtful details.l-including fresh bread that was baked with love and so dang good!! Char went over and beyond, and we felt like we could have been instant friends! We loved watching bald eagles, turkey vultures and emerald purple sparrows swoop around while drinking coffee in the hot tub, the sunrises were spectacular and some of the best photos I have ever taken easily, such a breathtaking view from SO many angles there! We did time lapses and every picture we took of ourselves in front of that view in dusk sunset hours looked green screened-you have to see it to believe it!! We loved the extended outdoor space, the loungers and the heat lamp, our pup especially loved, and passed out under it everytime we were outside! Clear instructions to make it easy and private and we will undoubtedly be back here!! Such an amazing view, we will be dreaming of it and talking about it for a long time to come!! Such a gem! Thank you so much for sharing your space!!

About the host

Hosted by Char Roth

Bob and I have been married for 50 years (as of December 2021), have three beautiful daughters and six perfect grand babies and our special golden doodle, Bella. We are fitness nuts, love to golf (but don't seem to get time) and love to entertain. Over the years we have made several friends thru the Rotary exchange program and enjoy their frequent visits back to Canada and our trips overseas to see them.

Why they chose this property

Employment opportunities brought us to Vancouver Island from Prince George BC where we pretty much grew up (together) and raised our lovely family. We bought this piece of property three years after moving to the Island. We wanted to get out of the of the city. When we purchased this home, it needed a lot of work...that is an understatement!!. We did it! We love it! We know you will love it as well!

What makes this property unique

More than anything, we enjoy sharing our view. It is hard to take your eyes off of the amazing sights of all the activity going on around us. Boating and fishing below, planes coming and going from the Victoria airport off in the distance, watching the cruise ships, BC ferries and the wildlife. Many of our guests decide to just stay put here and enjoy the majestic experience. Many of our past guest have described our place as a destination rather than just a place to rest your head.
