Our classic beach villa is spacious & comfortable; perfect for families or group of friends to share. Large swimming pool is the focal point of the mature lawned garden. Timeless Caribbean style with white-painted mahogany louvred windows, cathedral ceilings and cool terrazzo marble floors, gives a sense of 'place'.

The villa has a prime location at the heart of the world-class oceanfront gated community of Sea Horse Ranch, just 20 mins' drive from Puerto Plata (POP) Airport. Glorious private beaches, double ocean front swimming pools with waterfalls & cave, tennis club, pickleball court, equestrian centre offering guided trail and beach rides, Beach Club restaurant & weekly Farmer's Market - all yours to enjoy! Excellent security, manicured green areas and walking/jogging paths throught the Ranch.

We also offer ''in villa dining'' - courtesy of the kitchen co-operative that is Elizabeth & NIdia our 2 long-standing housekeepers - both wonderful ''local'' cooks - who enjoy preparing the delicious classic Dominican dishes for our guests. Sue, who has cooked professionally around the world, adds an international touch/flavour to the mix - always using best local ingredients and meals perfect for the tropics/outdoor dining. The White House is a stylish vacation home - perfect for larger groups of family or friends. It has hosted many happy multi-generational gatherings. It is tastefully furnished in contemporary style with a mix of imported & local furniture, some vintage, upholstered with cotton slipcovers in neutral shades. The house is painted white throughout, making it very light. Carefully chosen pictures & fresh flowers complete the look.

The property is designed to take full advantage of its tropical setting in the midst of a mature tropical garden. 8 louvered doors completely open up the large sitting room to the wrap-around terrace, which is attractively furnished for outdoor living with comfortable rattan sofas and arm chairs. The dining table is located at one end & there is a brick BBQ on the lawn adjacent to the terrace.

The garden is very private and has a path giving direct access to the beach walkway. 3 of our 4 private beaches, the double ocean front swimming pools and the Beach Club restaurant are just a 2 -minute WALK from the White House.

The property has 5 bedrooms & 4 bathrooms - located in 2 'wings' on either side of the spacious sitting room, thus making it ideal for groups of friends, or 2 families; giving a good degree of privacy to everyone.

The kitchen. with painted units & ''butcher block' wooden worktops has doors opening directly to the terrace & garden. New 6 burner cooker & large 'side by side' fridge freezer & microwave, dish-washer and good-quality china & glassware make it a pleasure for cooking. Alternatively, our cook service is available.

The villa has1 Smart TV in sitting room, as well as an excellent and reliable fibre optic internet broadband internet connection with 20 Mbps.

Property was beautiful. Our host was easy to communicate with. He made sure we had an abundance of information about the area. Staff was over the top nice. They had a large group to care for and sometimes cook fantastic meals for. Always pleasant!

Incredible setting, lovely stay

We spent Christmas at the villa with three generations of my husband's family. It was wonderful! Sea Horse Ranch is a perfect place to vacation and we loved Steve and Sue's house. It felt like home. We enjoyed the privacy of the house but also loved the community amenities that were a short walk from the villa (pools, beaches, outstanding restaurant, tennis, equestrian center). Their housekeepers Elizabeth and Nidia were so kind and a great help during our stay. We have previously stayed at homes with full-time staff and preferred this so much more! Elizabeth and Nidia visited the house each morning to tidy the beds and sweep up sand, but otherwise we enjoyed privacy as a family. It was perfect! We arranged in advance for them to prepare several meals for our family, and wow -- delicious!! Their meals are not to be missed! We ate at The Beach Club for several meals as well, and that's also not to be missed! Gorgeous views!! Steve and Sue were very thoughtful hosts and great communicators. We appreciated all of their help with providing information and recommendations, assisting with transport, and greeting us upon arrival. Highly, highly recommend that anyone consider a stay here if you're headed to this part of the island.

The definition of an Oasis! This house.

Our stay at the White House and overall SHR, was just perfect. The entire process couldn't have gone smoother. Steve and Sue are truly amazing hosts! The cleanliness of the house and hospitality was top notch. Nidia and Elizabeth were the sweetest, always! The attention was always there. The security in the community is above and beyond. We felt very safe. This place accommodated my family and I perfectly. My children asked to go back and visit. I highly recommend for those looking to visit Puerto Plata. I will definitely be returning. Thanks Steve, Sue and staff. We appreciate you making our stay so great!

Excellent Property In Sea Horse Ranch!

I make an annual girls' trip to new places worldwide, and the McQueen property has been one of the best VRBOs I have rented. When you enter Sea Horse Ranch, you feel safe and secure as security is on every corner of the gated community. The pictures of the house do not do it justice. The place is perfect for large groups, broken into two wings with an indoor and outdoor living space. I am an immaculate and tidy person, and the staff, Elisabeth and her partner, left no stone unturned when it came to daily cleaning and taking care of my group. We booked the meal options during our stay, which was the best food we had on the island. I highly recommend this service; it is affordable and very high quality. No need to clean up after; you can kick back, relax, and enjoy your vacation. Coca Tours provided my group with all airport transfers and other activities during our stay there. All Drivers and staff were very professional, and you could tell that they liked working for the McQueens. We also had a cancellation, and new request's during our stay, and Coco tours met the new changes with extreme ease. Once inside Sea Horse Ranch, you never have to leave. There are two custom-built swimming pools and one of the best restaurants within a 2-minute walk from the house. The Beach Club will bring drinks and food poolside to your group. You can also go horseback riding on the beach and through the many trails located within the community. Call it the "lazy man's hike," if you will. Sea horse ranch and the Mcqueen property are truly one of a kind. I highly recommend it to anyone that is looking to travel to the Dominican Republic for vacation. As a side note: My group did tip the housekeeping staff, as their job went far beyond expectations.

Seahorse Ranch Stay

I always enjoy visiting the Seahorse Ranch. It was my first time at this Vrbo. We liked that it was spacious and clean. Swimming in the pool at night is always a treat. The kitchen is well equipped, so we enjoyed breakfast and tea time in the backyard. There is also a horse ranch, a restaurant, a tennis court, and some private beaches on site. And the gated community feels safe because there is a ton of control and surveillance. The internet did not reach our bedrooms, and in the common areas, it would drop. That was rough for a work trip, but if you’re here on vacation, it might not be a problem at all. There is a lot of movement/staff walking in/around which made our privacy feel a bit more limited. But they are just doing their jobs. PS: we loved the cleaning ladies! They were wonderful.

Amazing beautiful experience at Sea Horse Ranch

We had a large family with 2 infants and 4 boys under 5 - let’s just say it was craziness! Steve and everyone at the ranch treated us amazingly and always were willing to help out with any questions we had. We loved the option of being able to walk down to the Beach Club/pools/beach for a new change of scenery. The house was perfect - thank you!!!

Wunderschönes Haus mit herzlichen Gastgebern in einer sicheren Ranch

In der Sea Horse Ranch fühlten wir uns sehr wohl und sicher. Die Ranch mit den Pferden, der Poolanlagen, dem feinen Restaurant in unmittelbarer Nähe ist sehr schön und optimal mit Kindern. Die Anlage etwas weitläufig, dass wir für den grösseren Strand (20-30 Min. zu Fuss) mit den kleinen Kindern das Auto nehmen mussten. Dafür waren wir ganz alleine an diesem traumhaften Strand. Das Haus ist wunderschön, ein grosszügiger Pool, schöner Garten (etwas viel Mücken), gut eingerichtet, sehr sauber und genügend gross für uns 9 Personen. Die Gastgeber Sue und Steve haben sich sehr viel Mühe gegeben, waren jederzeit hilfsbereit und wir wurden herzlich empfangen. Das Dienstmädchen Nidia war zuvorkommend und unglaublich fleissig. Der Gärtner zeigte den Kindern sogar wie man Kokosnüsse holt und ihre Augen glänzten vor Freude. Wir empfehlen das Haus sehr für gross und klein und freuen uns wiedereinmal zu kommen!

Amazing Vacation Property!

Our family of 6 had a great experience renting this property. the house is gorgeous. It's clean and super spacious. There is a great restaurant within walking distance as well as several beaches and pools. The grounds are immaculate and the area is very safe. There is plenty of activities, all within a short taxi away. Steve was available for any questions and helped us arrange a few outings. We had a great time and hope to return! If you are on considering booking this home, I highly recommend it!!

Wonderfully peaceful and relaxing vacation!

We had four adults (in 3 separate bedrooms) and 1 child (3 years old) stay in the White House for 9 glorious nights. The home is the perfect blend of Caribbean beach vibe and Dominican charm. We loved the decorative details which made this house seem more like a home. It was comfortable with plenty of space for 4 adults and 1 child to spread out in. The outdoor living area was where we spent the vast majority of our time. Absolutely wonderful! We cannot say enough good things about Elizabeth and Nidia's cooking - we enjoyed home cooked meals 4 nights while we were there and their cooking rivaled even the best restaurant we found in the area. The convenience of having the Beach Club, pools and beaches such a short distance away cannot be understated. The community was peaceful, beautiful and suited our needs perfectly for a relaxing Caribbean vacation!

Great place for a family vacation!

Our extended family of 11 just stayed at the White House and had a wonderful week. Sue and Steve were incredibly helpful in answering any local questions and made some great excursion and dining recommendations. The Beach Club on the property is excellent for cocktails and dining. SHR is well manicured and has a very chill vibe. Neighboring Sosua and Cabarete are a short drive and offer great beach restaurants and a very local feel. For surfers Encuentro is a must.

Perfect Visit

It is a lovely house at Sea Horse Ranch, which is unparalleled in this part of the Dominican Republic. The owners are very knowledgeable, helpful and sweet but not intrusive in any way. The maids do a great job and are very friendly and helpful as well. There is lots of room in the house and it would work well for a family or a group of friends. We are a family of three, we loved our visit, had great weather and had oodles of extra room.

The perfect vacation spot!

I have spent 2 great vacations at this lovely villa – and although I don’t usually write reviews, want to do so here as it is so special! The villa itself is beautiful – the photographs really don’t do it justice. It is home with character and style, with ‘collected’ pieces, making it feel very chic. The setting of Sea Horse Ranch is a quiet oasis with beautiful private beaches, gorgeous green areas for walking and jogging and enjoying the tropical plants and trees. It is close to the pretty resort towns of Cabarete and Sosua, as well as a great surf beach, Encuentro, where we spent early mornings, enjoying great waves. The villa owners were very easy to deal with and were very professional; they own one of the island’s tour companies and thus were able to provide airport transportation as well as suggesting a great local day. For example, we went sailing on a catamaran with a wonderful snorkeling opportunity and went golfing at the Robert Trent Jones course, at nearby Playa Dorada. All the more special, when coming down to the villa from a freezing Montreal winter! Thanks Sue & Steve – hope we’ll be back.

special villa in a special place

Brilliant villa. Excellent quality. Really comfortable beds and fine linen. Large pool with great deck/sun lounging area in gorgeous exotic garden with mature shrubs and trees attracting numerous interesting birds. Great area both for relaxing, with use of nearby beach club and lively water sports etc in Cabarete. We'll be booking for next year. Highly recommend.

A very special place!

We really had a terrific time during our recent trip to the Dominican Republic. The White House totally exceeded expectations. It is very special, with Steve & Sue very responsive and great owners who know how to take care of their guests. Everything you could hope for in a stylish Caribbean retreat, down to the white-painted shutters and four poster bed with doors opening directly to the pool and garden. Stretched out on the enormous sofa on the terrace with a good book – and a fresh passion fruit juice, or fresh coconut water was a perfect way to while away the time, when we weren’t swimming in the enormous private pool or down on the beach. Lots of local spots to explore - the 27 waterfalls, and the chic beach club at Playa Grande – were our particular favourites.

Beautiful villa and best holiday EVER!

My family had the most wonderful holiday in the Dominican Republic and staying at this villa made our visit even more incredible. On arrival we were amazed at how spacious the house was (even more so than the photographs show) and so beautifully furnished. Our children literally ran from bedroom to bedroom picking their favourite ones to sleep in before spotting the large private pool - at which point suitcases were hastily searched to find swimmimg costumes! We went with the intention of relaxing and unwinding and that’s what we did. Lazing and sunbathing by the pool (or one of the other secluded pools in Sea Horse Ranch) and swimming in the sea but we also found time for other activities including swimming with the dolphins at Ocean World, the jeep safari, sailing on a catamaran and snorkelling. The children said it was their ‘best holiday EVER!’. which is exactly what it was and we will definitely be back.

WE WERE IMMEDIATLY STRUCK, ON ARRIVAL, WITH HOW BEAUTIFULLY THIS SUMPTUOUS VILLA NESTLED WITHIN IT'S LUSH TROPICAL GARDEN. WITH TRANQUILITY ALL AROUND WE ENJOYED THE COMFORT OF THE VILLA'S LOVELY FURNISHINGS, OUR MEALS ON THE LARGE TERRACE, SWIMMING IN THE POOL AND WHEN WE COULD, JUST ABOUT, DRAG OURSELVES AWAY.... A VERY PRIVATE BEACH WITH IT'S OWN STUNNINGLY POSITIONED BEACH BAR WERE JUST 5 MINS WALK AWAY. WE LOVED EVERY MINUTE..... The perfect vacation for our two families

We celebrated the last Christmas and New Year period in this gorgeous vacation paradise for 2 weeks and we were all so sorry to leave! The house was perfectly suited for our two families (5 kids in total) with a wing for each and a very functional central group common area as well. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable with lots of places to curl up with a book and relax and plenty of spaced for the kids to run around or swim in the private pool outside. Sue, Steve, and their staff are just amazing and nothing is too much trouble. They were so welcoming and helped us with any questions that came up during our stay. We felt very lucky to have them nearby. Sea Horse Ranch is a lovely private community and the White House is a very short walk to the beach club where the menu is large and the food is fantastic. There were other pools down by the beach the kids loved also and we were often driving into Sousa for the gorgeous horseshoe bay and warm waters. Overall we had a fantastic holiday to remember and we can't wait to go back.

Fabulous villa in unbeatable location;

My family & I had a brilliant holiday in the Dominican Republic for 2 weeks - staying in this fabulous villa rental. We loved everything about it - from the huge private swimming pool in the large tropical garden, through the privacy & quiet afforded by the gated community to the stylish interiors. It was a treat to walk just 2 minutes to private beaches or the 2 swimming pools at the oceanfront. The beach club was a great plus, for delicious meals and evening cocktails watching the glorious sunsets. For the teenagers it was fun to be close to Sosua & Cabarete - with options for snorkelling, kite surfing, sailing and fishing as well as charming beachside cafes, bars & restaurants. We had a memorable day on the jeep safari, seeing the hinterland and river swimming. The villa staff were welcoming and a Dominican meal cooked served by candlelight on our terrace with a soft background buzz of the cicadas, was a stand-out memory. We would love to return, and would highly recommend - for either a v active or v relaxed holiday for all ages!

Can't wait to return to the White House!

What a wonderful surprise! The White House villa stay was one of the best vacations that we have ever experienced. The only negative thing we have to say is that the trip was too short. The property is beautifully situated in a beautiful oceanfront development a short distance from the airport. The villa grounds are comprised of mature tropical trees and foliage with a refreshing pool in its center. We really felt like a guest in a friend's home, Susan made us feel so welcomed. The home is fashionably decorated with all the amenities and very well-maintained. We are looking for to returning to the White House soon and next time we will stay longer and hopefully bring friends and family to share our fantastic discovery.

Wonderful stay at Seahorse Ranch

Our family spent a glorious week at Seahorse Ranch. A big plus is that the ranch is a short drive from the airport, ideal after a long flight, and is set in the beautiful countryside of the Dominican coast. The Villa was a perfect place from which to explore the island. We loved relaxing by the pool after a long day, sipping cocktails among the palm trees. The interior has been beautifully designed to offer large open rooms, comfortable sofas, and style. There is a large 'inside/outside' area in which to have lazy al fresco lunches, or afternoon tea looking out into a beautiful garden filled with bougainvillea and exotic plants. The bedrooms are spacious, airy and beautifully designed for maximum comfort. Situated in a gated community close to the sea, Seahorse Ranch offers horse riding, tennis facilities and a Beach Club bar with a stunning swimming pool built into the rocks, and good restaurant on a cliff overlooking the sea. The latter is great for evening meals or you can try one of many good local restaurant in coastal locations nearby. We were very well looked after by the maid service and staff, who prepared delicious breakfasts and a variety of locally caught fish and Dominican delicacies for evening meals. Nothing was too much trouble. There are some beautiful unspoilt beaches on the north coast, especially Playa Grande. We put in some exciting dives in good clear water but pride of place was a wonderful day's fishing for Mahi Mahi offshore. I can't recommend this location enough. We shall definitely be coming back.

A wonderful holiday and an unforgettable villa

My partner and I stayed at The White House in September this year and had a truly fabulous time. The minute we walked through the door we were captivated by the house and felt immediately at home. The house is very spacious and clean and the decor throughout is wonderfully done, from the large living areas to each individual bedroom. The large well-equipped kitchen and outdoor dining area made mealtimes effortless. The house opens onto a beautiful private garden, complete with palm and avocado trees, and large pool where we spent most of our time relaxing. The house itself is within an exclusive residential complex which has private beaches, a restaurant and bar overlooking the ocean, a large communal pool (which we had to ourselves), tennis courts and stables - all within a short walk from the house. The local towns of Sosua and Cabarete are close by with restaurants and beaches popular for snorkeling, scuba diving and surfing. The beauty of the house together with the service we received both booking the villa and during our visit really made our trip special. We would recommend this house to couples, families and groups of friends looking for an idyllic retreat - we will definitely be returning soon!

What makes this property unique

We live within SHR so the White House is therefore maintained, decorated, equipped etc, to a very high standard; possibly more so than 'just' the usual rental property. This is a much-loved family home too. Good linens, lovely pictures and beautifully tended tropical gardens.
