It was ok, but we chose not to stay the second night and drive home. It was crazy hot when we arrived, we found the window AC and turned them all on and left for dinner. We were very confused because the house rules kept saying not to go to the 3rd floor but when we tried the door on the 2nd floor, a man opened it and said the rental was on the 3rd floor! The rules talked about Quiet hours but never said what they were, we arrived back around 10pm and the old steps are extra loud when trying to stay quiet! We just didn't know what we should do. I do believe they cleaned with something very powerful or perhaps it was the plug in air fresheners but the "clean" smell was nauseating. It was very dark even with the lights on and all the lightswitches were across the room from the entrance (we had a flashlight)... overall it was just ok. Nothing really bad or good about it

The title of this property is very misleading. It is anything but quiet - being next to a busy road and railway crossing. This is a work in progress. It is apparent that the host is doing work on the place - but it will take some time. It is at the top of 3 flights of very narrow tread stairs, and the stairs to the front door are deadly - uneven and unlevel. Not for everyone. this is not included in the description. It is very spacious with a good sized living room and kitchen. The kitchen is not well equipped (eg no forks or glassware other than 4 wine glasses )tand only caters for 4 people (even though the house sleeps 8) Micheal, the host was very helpful and responsive to our needs and appreciated his efforts.

Lot's of charm, 4.5 Stars a little polish would be 5 Stars

It seems to be new to Vrbo. Place was very clean & pleasant. There a few niggles. The stair treads are small but normal for 1900. Shower handle falls off. Lights unplugged or hidden power strip off. Couldn't open window in bdrm & no screens. Kitchen was large but missing amenities; tea kettle, sugar, K cups, salt pepper? All of the little things that you need, but don't bring. I would have discussed more with the Host but couldn't contact via Vrbo app after, 1st or 2nd night? Can't verify when because I can't get back into the messages on Vrbo app, that is my biggest problem. I would recommend this place.

Made the best of it ... but very disappointed in the end

As we were driving up on Thanksgving, the owner contacted me while I was navigating the GW Bridge into NY. He told me that the furnace was out in the rental we booked, but he would put us up in a smaller property he had about a mile away. This was not the time to negotiate, so I said okay. We finally arrived, and as we unloaded our car, there was a loud train whistle. We looked across the street to find a commuter train running right by the house! The place was small, but a clean 2 bedroom with four beds. My youngest ended up sleeping in the living room, because the bedroom was crowded.That train went by pretty regularly until after midnight and started back up again at 7am. The train and it's whistle filled the entire apartment and we half expected the place to shake! We made jokes about being in the My Cousin Vinnie movie, because of how loud it was. When the train wasn't running, the heater was super loud as well. There was no regulating the temperature, it was either pretty cold or too hot. Thankfully, it was only a two night stay. I had expected the owner to give me a refund. At the very least, the place he put us up in was less expensive by 20 a night. I messaged him a couple of times, asking for a partial refund, but he never responded. While my family made the best of it, we were all pretty disappointed in this rental. We generally enjoy our stays, but this one will be talked about for years because of that train!
