About this property

Cozy Hideaway

My Cozy Hideaway is close to Eaton Canyon. The name says it all: the studio apartment is nestled beneath a 100-year old pine tree in a quiet neighborhood. If you like succulents, you'll enjoy my gardens. The backyard has a gas barbecue grill and several eating & sitting areas. It is good for couples or business travelers. Couples with an infant or small child are also welcome to book since the daybed is an additional sleeping area. Please tell me if you need the daybed made up for sleeping.
The space
My space is unique because I have a fully equipped Pilates room in the main house. I am also a certified GYROTONIC trainer. I am available for private sessions on the weekends and a few evenings during the week. I offer a variety of online classes through ZOOM, including Total Barre®, Pilates, ZEN*GA®, GYROKINESIS® and more. My guests will receive sessions at half price. More information can be found on my website. If you want to customize your own personal workout, just let me know and I will make available (at no cost) free weights, foam rollers, fitness circles, flex bands, etc. Just let me know what you are looking for.
Guest access
The back yard has a patio with a gas grill and a gorgeous tiled table made from a tree trunk. There are sitting areas on the many patios and deck, making eating outside a special treat. Let me know if you plan to eat outside and I will provide some candles and citronella candles for the bugs. The gazebo has string lights and is beautiful at night. There is a porch swing in the front yard if you want to meet the neighbors as they walk their dogs in the late afternoon and early evening. Bring a book!
Other things to note
My property is registered through Los Angeles County and guests are expected to pay the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT), a hotel tax that is collected by the host . You can leave cash on the table when you leave or arrange to pay through Venmo. I will let you know the amount when you book your stay.

About the host

Host profile image
I grew up in this area but went to graduate school in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I worked as Curator of the Asian Art Archives at the University of Michigan for over 20 years. I raised my family in Ann Arbor and moved back to California in 2012. I still have a parent living nearby (now 96 years old!).

I love art, art history, music and museums — and I love to spend time in my garden when I can. I have three adult “kids” and one grandson. I’ve traveled to many countries in Europe and a few in Asia. I lived for one year each in both Paris and Firenze in the early 1970s.

I am in the main house most mornings throughout the week. Although I am retirement age, I continued to teach during the pandemic when fitness classes moved online. I still teach most mornings in the week and also have a few private clients coming to my home for classes on the Pilates and GYROTONIC® equipment. I have lots of small equipment and exercise mats that you may borrow during your stay — just ask!

I look forward to meeting you while you are here!
