About this property

FURNISHED 3 BEDROOM WV VACATION HOME

Beautiful fully-furnished, 3 bedroom (bedroom 1 has a queen-size bed, bedroom 2 has a full-size bed and bedroom 3 has a full-size bed), plus queen size sleep sofa in the living room(extra linen and pillows can be found in the closet by the full bathroom), 1 1/2 bath "country getaway" home in Talcott. Family and pet friendly! Prior approval and pet fee (one time $35 per pet ) required. Recently renovated with all the comforts you would expect. Easily reached, up on the hill from the main road (Rt. 3 & 12) through town.

Children and adults are thrilled to sit on the deck and watch the trains go by. There is a railroad crossing at the bottom of the hill and you will hear train whistles throughout the day and night, which may be loud and disruptive. Across the road and the railroad tracks is the beautiful Greenbrier River, great for fishing, tubing and swimming. There is public access for launching your boat, canoe, raft or kayak within walking distance from the house. Enjoy John Henry Days in July and watch the parade from the wraparound deck as it makes its turn.

It is a short 15-30 minute drive to Pipestem State Park and Bluestone Lake and State Park and Greenbrier State Park to the east. Stay here and visit the historic Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, a short drive away. Play golf where the pros play at several other area golf courses. Attend the West Virginia State Fair in August.

This area is good for all seasons. Watch the West Virginia Hills change from lush green to glorious shades of red and gold in the Fall. Short 35 minute drive to Winterplace and 1 1/2 hour drive to Snowshoe Mountain for skiers and snowboarders. Celebrate holidays with friends and family.

Peace and Rest in the Hills

We loved our one month stay in Talcott at this wonderful home. There was plenty of space to spread out and everything we needed to spend a month away from home. Our favorites were coffee on the huge deck in the morning, thunderstorms watched from the giant living room window, lightening bugs, trains, running around the yard and evening walks down the hill by the river. There is so much to do nearby, our favorites were Sandstone Falls, free movie Mondays at the Ritz theater in Hinton and the giant inflatable lake waterpark at Pipestem Resort State Park. Bed linens were high quality and comfy and we all slept great! Host was incredibly responsive, we won’t forget this trip.

Perfection in the WV Mountains!

Very charming home for our extended stay in WV! Our trip was beyond wonderful, & this home fit exactly what we needed. When we realized we were staying in a former MSgt. in the U.S. Special Forces home, it made our trip even more special as we are Patriots of our great country! The views on the drive of Jenson Road over the mountain, to Sandstone Falls, was breathtaking! We really loved Little Beaver State Park(saw many deer here), as well as the New River Gorge National Park; the drive down the mountain under the bridge and down to the water was a great adventure, with so many beautiful picture opportunities! We drove up Rt. 3 through Beckley, and found an awesome brewery called Freefolk Brewery in Fayetteville(highly recommend). We really enjoyed the drive up to Sandstone Falls Overlook, & checking out the Eagles on Brooks Island! Seminole Road is stunning on the way to Bluestone Wildlife Park! The fully stocked kitchen was wonderful, we cooked all our meals here with no problems! The toaster is a little nutty, but we didn’t mind; & the ability to grill was a huge plus for us! Convenient location of stores in either direction, and gorgeous sunrises out the bay window, as well as sunsets on the back deck! We will definitely be back & will recommend your home to other fellow Patriots! We left a new wooden “Blessed” sign, as that’s how we felt during our last minute trip & finding this little slice of heaven!

Home away from home

Was a great location in between Hinton, Lewisburg, and National Park. We enjoyed sitting on the deck listening to the trains and watching the river. Walked across the street to walk down a road along side the river. Home felt like a modern version of grandma’s home, made for nice cozy afternoon/evenings of unwinding.

Almost Heaven Up on the Hill!!!

Very good stay. The place must of had a previous party that smoked inside the house. Ashley warned us she couldn’t get the smell out. Near is a Big Lots and Big Lots Carrie’s Lysol, so we loaded up to make the smoke smell tolerable.

Good vacation with some issues beyond control

Nice house with large decks 3/4 way around the house. Everything was clean. It is fairly large and the 2 bathrooms were nice. The property feels pretty private with no visible neighbors. We like the area with it being close to Hinton and also not too far from Lewisburg. We had some bad luck with weather. There had been a big storm the weekend prior and the internet was down when we arrived. I had good cell service but my wife didn’t have anything (we have different carriers). The next day they brought us a cellular WiFi box that had battery backup (needed the battery later in the trip). We had the great luck of getting hit a few days later with a weather event that took out the power. A big tree hit the power line coming into the house and also the house. Lucky the house is a block house and the only damage to it was the gutter. The power line was broken though. All the decks and the yard were covered in leaves and small branches and another tree took out part of the fence. We didn’t have power for the rest the week. Talcott and part of Hinton were hit hard with trees and power lines down everywhere. The owner was very good at checking in with the power company and letting us know any updates. The house temperature stayed reasonable and the internet worked up until we left a couple days later. We just turned it off at night and when we left for the day to conserve battery. We made good use of the provided flashlights. We were compensated for no electricity by the owner.

Beautiful House

The house was very nice and clean and the wood floors were gorgeous! We ended up spending a lot of time inside because we didn't know how cold and rainy it was going to be. There were many more things provided than I expected, like extra paper towels, toilet paper, plenty of soap, and tons of dishes and towels. There were even two bottles of water waiting for us, so we didn't have to bring most of the items we did. I didn't see it mentioned in the listing but the washer and dryer are downstairs, which may be hard for some people with limited mobility. It was okay for us though. The trains are loud, but this is mentioned in the listing so I expected it.. I meant to pack a fan but forgot, so I went to Rose's and bought one. It helped so much to have. I knocked off one star because the listing said there was a hot tub but there wasn't. The awesome shower head made up for not having a hot tub though. The bed in the back bedroom was hard but I'm used to a memory foam gel mattress and I slept fine after falling asleep. If I could dock just half a star for these two items I would, because we really enjoyed our stay.
