Thank you, Monica, for the wonderful review! Hope to see you another time 🙂
Cute little house with pool and hot tub. We stayed three nights to visit Shades, Turkey Run and Cascade Falls. We brought our dog and she enjoyed the fenced in yard and barking at the cows across the street. We had everything we needed, Lisa and Tony were very attentive and quick to respond.
Wonderful place, clean, comfortable, and the hot tub was amazing The hosts were accommodating and Responsive. Also they don’t ask you to do a million chores when checking out. Will definitely book here again!

Yay!! Thank you for the awesome review-- we'd love to host you again
It was overall a very nice stay and the host was very friendly. We didn't use the hot tub because it was too hot outside and the pool was a bit dirty but to be fair it wasn't fully ready anyways during our stay, they gave us the option to swim anyways if we wanted to which was nice! I do wish that the listing mentioned the cow farm right across the street because the manure smell outside is very strong. There was also quite a few wood bees but thats to be expected in an area like that. The house was great though and to be clear you cannot smell manure from inside the house at all, just the outside. Overall great trip and lovely host!

Thank you for the great review! I'm sorry fir cow smells-- sometimes it is strong, and other days it is fine 🤷♀️ always worst in the spring! We hope to host you another time, Lisa
Great location not far from Rockville and Turkey Run State Park. Clean property and appreciated it being pet friendly to bring our 18 pound Maltipoo to enjoy a short vacation! Hot tub was excellent and nice fire pit outdoors with wood provided by owners. Be careful if u have small dog as ours was able to crawl thru openings in fence next to the roadway. Thankfully we got Milo back in quickly! Communication was excellent and got to meet Tony and Lisa in person. Well equipped kitchen and nice rural setting. Would recommend!

The hot tub and massage chair were amazing. This was our first bed and breakfast stay and we were pleasantly surprised with the whole experience.

Thank you for the awesome review 💜 Please come again! Lisa
This was our first VRBO rental and it did not disappoint!! We wanted to "get away" and that is exactly what we did. "The Getaway" was beautiful, clean and the hot tub was amazing. We will be back in the warmer months to try out the pool. Communication with the host was easy and the local food was great!! Thanks Lisa and family for allowing us to enjoy your home!!

Thank you for the awesome review! We enjoyed hosting you and hope to see you another time 🙂 Lisa
The hot tub was wonderful! We were grateful to have that. The hosts were really kind, but we were not huge fans of them coming out to meet us right away to help us check in. After driving for several hours, we just wanted to get in and settled. We felt as though the kitchen was missing some basic things for a fully stocked kitchen, so hopefully this review will help others- it is missing a large pot for cooking pasta, no aluminum foil, and many of the pots that are non stick had scrapes in them, which made us hesitant to use them. We saw the washer and dryer in the photos- but as a heads up- renters are not allowed to use them. Now, we went back and looked, it is NOT listed in the amenities, but we saw them in the photos and assumed we could, and so we packed as such, to be able to use the washer and dryer. There are 4 towels for the hot tub, which is fine, except that without a dryer, it makes it difficult to wait for them to hang dry to use them again. It does not have a dish strainer to let the dishes dry, having that would have been very helpful. It is not as private as we hoped. The furniture was cozy, which was a plus. Some places we’ve stayed it feels like you can’t lounge around. This was not the case here. It’s got a fun massage chair that we enjoyed. We loved that it was pet friendly but did NOT smell like other pets had been there. Overall, it was very clean, the hosts were kind,

I'm happy you enjoyed your stay-- and thank you for your comments. We will be purchasing some new pots/pans, for sure! Re: no aluminum foil, I apologize-- the last guests must have used the end of a roll and our awesome cleaning lady neglected to let us know. We have a 'drying mat' for dishes but will purchase the rack for those that prefer this method. And, lastly, re: face to face check-in...we realize this isn't everyone's preference...but most people appreciate being shown how to operate the hot tub and being given a brief (5 minute) orientation to the house. Again, we appreciate your patronage.
About the host
Hosted by Lisa or Tony
We are from the suburbs of Chicago and Northwest Indiana. Meeting new people and providing a clean, fun, and inviting space is a passion of ours.
Why they chose this property
This property sits off a county road with spacious lots. There are at least 2 acres of land between The Getaway House and the nearest neighbor. Cows graze across the road and the back of the property is surrounded by woods and a ravine. We love sitting out back, especially in the evening, in the screened-in porch, listening to the noises of the wood's such as owls, insects, coyotes, etc...while playing a game or enjoying a glass of wine. Another favorite is sitting in the hot tub and gazing at the stars! A short 2-3 mile drive will take you to a Dollar General, coffee shop, tavern, gas station, post office, and restaurant that is open for breakfast and lunch.
What makes this property unique
The cleanliness, privacy, and charm of The Getaway House along with a beautiful 5-6 person hot tub makes this property stand out! In addition, a heated semi-inground pool during summer months adds to the 'fun" of this property!
