Come and enjoy the peace and quiet of our intimate family friendly resort on quiet pristine Hardy Lake. Only 8 cabins and a small campground. Great place for your family getaway. There is something for everyone:
We have 2 different cabins available; Cabin 4 or Cabin 5. These cabins are basically the same. Check our website at Shady Hollow Resort for further information. If there is one you prefer over the other, let us know and we will try to accommodate your wishes. If it is still available it just means there is at least one of these open for the dates you are requesting.
Our spacious 2 bedroom 1 bath + loft has become a guest favorite. Whether you are sitting on your deck or standing at your large window. You will have spectacular view of the lake and the native wildflowers cascading down to the majestic lily pad garden. There is also a beach side fire pit at the lake front where you can watch the stars and listen to the loons of Hardy Lake. With central air, cable T.V., and a dishwasher, this cabin gives you a luxurious open airy space to rest and recoup after a long day in the sun.
Price includes cleaning fee; however our expectation is that you will leave the cabin as nice or nicer than you found it. Thank you.

Just what we were looking for

Shady Hollow deserves an easy 5 star rating. My husband and I stayed with our 5 children aged 1-8, and it was perfect. We all enjoyed the beach, beautiful lake view, swimming, paddle boards, fishing, pedal boat and kayaks, which was included in the cost. The lake was shallow enough for our kids to play safely and there were plenty of toys on the beach for them to use and build sand castles. Our kids loved going to the office to get a treat and talk to Diana, who was so accommodating. We did need to pack towels and kitchen/bath soaps, but that was communicated prior to booking. We were also glad we packed our kids’ blankets and pillows, as there were not many extras in the cabin. If you are looking for a luxurious stay on the lake, this probably isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a safe, clean, family friendly resort that transports you to simpler times, do not hesitate to book your stay at Shady Hollow!

Small family friendly cabins

We very much enjoyed our stay at Shady Hollow. Diana was always approachable and accommodating throughout our visit. We loved the proximity to the small sandy beach, with kayaks, paddle boat, pontoon /fishing boats, swimming raft, beach toys and life jackets. We also have small children that enjoyed a woodsy craft session led by Sheila who is an absolute gem. We hope to come back, thank you!

Perfect stay

This was the perfect stay for me, my mom and my 9-year-old daughter. The resort is located an easy distance from Baxter, Brainerd and Nisswa. The cabin has a great loft that my daughter loved - we used a sleeping bag as padding for her to sleep on and she slept under a blanket. My daughter had a great time catching fish off the dock, playing at the beach and doing crafts. Very relaxing location for me and my mom as well.

We bought this little slice of heaven 28 years ago and still love what we do, provide the opportunity to share with others the uniqueness of Shady Hollow Resort. We purchased it because it was small quiet and close to Brainerd and yet in a very quiet area, the cabins are nicely spaced apart so you get the feel of having your own yard. We have been married 48 years, this was our dream job since we were dating and still is.

Why they chose this property

This was exactly what we were looking for in a resort. We enjoy the small quiet lake and being close to town where there is plenty of shopping, restaurants, a movie theater and more to enjoy, we are on the north end of the lake so we get the great south breezes in the summer. Mostly families come for the quiet family time.

What makes this property unique

We have kayaks, paddle boards, paddle boat, canoe for your enjoyment free of charge. We like that the cabins are nicely spaced and not all lined up on the beach. We have a great lakeshore restoration project with lots of native wildflowers which we have shared with many guests over the years. If you don't know how to make a fire, take off a fish, clean a fish, use a motor or a paddleboard, we can help you with that. Let us know; we are here for you.
