MAIN HOUSE (2000sf) on the property sleeps up to 4 guests in two bedrooms, each with a separate bath. It is passive solar. Thick Adobe walls keep the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. There is a Rumsford Fireplace in the living room and a Rockport wood burning stove in the main house living space to provide heat in the winter. The night time temperatures at our altitude (4800ft+) are up to 30 degrees cooler than daytime. This night time cold is retained in the adobe walls and keeps the house cool in the summer.
CASITA (800sf) has a Master bedroom with a queen bed, a twin trundle and a private bath with a large shower. It also has a Kitchen and a Laundry. The Casita Living Room has a separate full bath and a queen sleeper sofa. Large glass sliding doors open onto patio with an unobstructed view of the Davis Mountains.

"Marfaview" will connect you to the unique landscape of the West Texas Marfa Plateau. The town of Marfa is about 2-3 miles away. A stay at our property allows you to experience both. If you enjoy morning walks there is 3 mile route around the rural neighborhood with views of the Chinati mountains. Another option is a walk into town or along Golf Course Road towards the Marfa Golf Course.(9 holes).
We are located in Antelope Hills and have unobstructed views of the Davis Mountains and other peaks - a great location for photographers and anyone needing to relax, unplug or rewind.

About the host

Host profile image
Owners are architects and builder of the property. While new construction in Marfa is a challenging undertaking, the result is well worth the effort.
Note:
We recently completed construction of a two room, two bath, plus kitchenette casita next to the house to offer families and "pods" a larger place to stay while exploring West Texas.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Marfa on our first visit and traveled back to the town from Houston two weeks later to purchase land and begin our project. The sun is dependable in Marfa. Days are always bright and nights are cool in the summer. The landscape of this area includes broad vistas that inspire artists and photographers.

What makes this property unique

Our home, situated at a highpoint outside of town offers an amazing view of the surrounding plateau. The home is cozy and has everything you may need for a comfortable stay. A Rumsford fireplace in the living area adds to the relaxing atmosphere in the winter. A Rockport wood burning stove warms up the interior spaces. The 14' adobe walls keep the home cool and comfortable in the summer months. Sit in the middle of the south courtyard on a moonless night and ponder the Milky Way.
The Casita has central heating and central air conditioning.
