Wonderful!

Fabulous! What a great place! The apartment was beautiful, great amenities. Little market within walking distance. Great base to visit all the attractions in the area. Best part was getting to know the people in the village. Loved Rita. She is my new adopted grandmother.

Trip of a lifetime

Fantastic, what a fabulous place, could not have been better. The view is spectacular and Joe could not have been more welcoming. The location allowed us to see everything we wanted to and be home for limoncello at the hotel up the street. The apartment was equipped with everything we needed , we were able to cook our own Italian dinners when we wanted to and Joe's recommendations of restaurants were right on the money. We cannot wait to go back again.

Beautiful views and lovely town

What a wonderful place to stay! We were met by Joe's mom, Rita, who showed us the apartment and walked us to the grocery store to help us get some cheese, ham and wine (all delicious and very fresh). Joe came by later and ran through the details - the place is beautiful with 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds, 2 full baths, a great seating/living area with all the channels you could want plus the terrace. The terrace is amazing! We visited the Amalfi coast and were so happy to come back to this quiet town, away from the hectic tourist coast, and relax. The restaurant at the top of the hill is delicious - I highly recommend it! Overall a wonderful stay - thanks Joe and Rita!

What a wonderful experience!

Our first time in Italy. Decided to see the Amalfi coast but, wanted a quiet place to stay. Joe’s place met all the criteria for a great stay. Quiet town, good restaurants nearby, wonderful accommodations with a lovely view of the mountains, great deck for eating and relaxing. The coast, though beautiful, was much too congested for us and we always looked forward to returning home for the night. Very convenient to see Pompeii and Paestum as well. Ask Joe for restaurant recommendations. It seems that he knows all of the owners so, tell them that Joe sent you. Absolutely a great vacation stay. Thank you, Joe.

Great spot to relax and do day trips from

Our stay was great. The home is well equipped. Joe was very responsive. There is a bit of a walk from where you park but nothing too much. You can get fairly close for loading and unloading. The village is very peaceful, lots of hiking trails. Good restaurants not far away. Grocery stores are 5-10 minutes away. Salerno, Sorrento, Pompeii and and the Amalfi coast are very accessible from the home for day trips. Great little grocery within walking distance with fresh bread every morning. WIFi was great did some work video calls while we were there with no issues, however there is limited cell service Would definitely book again.

A uniquely gorgeous place! Stunningly attractive and comfortable

We chose this place to get away from tourists. We were so right! The town is incredible-- an untouched Medieval village perched atop gorgeously picturesque steep mountains. Feels untouched by tourism, which we loved! Even though across the street is a very classy hotel with great dining. The apartment is first class in every way and the owner, Joe, couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. He is American so there's no language barrier for English speakers. And his mother is a delight. If you want to live in luxury off the beaten path, this is your place!

The BEST view ever!

What a treasure! We go to Europe twice a year and have rented many, many properties some through VRBO and this was one of our top favorites. The thorougly modern appointments in the lovely spacious 2 bedroom apartments included only the very best. The beds were excellent, the quiet village charming, the proximity to important attractions perfect. The owner's mother is on the premises and was completely accommodating and a wealth of language help and area resources. She went so far as to prepare food for our late arrival! What a sweetie! We would definately return to this gem!

Very peaceful and beautiful location,

A haven in the Laterri mountains. It was lovely to sit on the balcony at the end of a busy day sight seeing or before setting off. Having international TV a great bonus, meant truly felt like home (we had 1 day where it rained non stop it didn't natter as we were in a really lovely home were we could use the day to rest up and recharge). Make sure to visit Paestum Greek & Roman temples. Visit Cava De' Terreni (closest town just a mile down the valley) the old part of town, for a taste of Italian life. Lovely busy old town with colonnade walkways. We stayed a week, visited the Amalfi coast towns and sights. DO NOT miss the monastery next door amazing!! Thanks to Joe for his lovely home. Great 2 week stay in a fantastic property in a great location

Our family, 2 adults and 2 children (aged 11 and 9) stayed in badia for 2 weeks. The property was excellent, spacious very well equipped, we wanted for nothing. The location was fantastic, in a quiet village a short distance from the coast, and provided quick and easy access to all the major sites. In the village there is a shop, 3 restaurants, which were all good, and the local hotel has a pool which can be used for a fee. The train station at Salerno is not far away should you wish venture to Rome, we went for one night but with the high speed trains you could do a day in with an early start and late train home. From Salerno boats the Amalfi coast depart regularly to Amalfi and Positano. Joe was always on hand to provide any assistance if required. We had a fantastic 2 weeks and came back feeling relaxed and highly recommend staying at Joe's place for anybody considering the Amalfi coast and surrounding area.

Amalfi coast and defniitely a gem

We loved staying at this gorgeous property - which is superbly fitted out and has the best terrace ever - stunning views, completely private, felt on top of the world, literally. You can even have outdoor showers on that terrace, which we did, often! Joe's flat is extra-special and made our time on the Amalfi coast etc just brilliant. Highly recommended, especially if you have a car and don't mind climbing hills and steps. We Brits would appreciate a kettle to make our tea, though. Excellent coffeemaker nevertheless. Rita gave us a warm welcome, had the kitchen well stocked with basics as well as some delicious extras and also arranged dinner that first evening, Thanks Rita and Joe, for a great week.

Beautiful apartment

The apartment is in a beautiful village in the hills above Cava. The village has 2 little shops a hotel and 3 restaurants about 10 minutes walk away. The apartment was stunning and well equiped- a hairdryer would have been nice. The owner lives in the apartment when not let out and it would have been nice to have a little more room in the wardrobe and drawers for our clothes. Other than that the apartment could not be faulted it was stunning and spotless the sun terrace is a delight with fantastic views. The villagers are very friendly and welcoming. The transport is not great and a car is a must. We spent hours waiting for buses and the trains were not running in August due to repairs although there was no mention on the website. The local restaurants were fantastic with stunning views the food was lovely. The owner and his mum were very nice we had a great time and would definitely recommend a stay.

Authentic and beautiful

We would highly recommend this location to anyone staying in the Amalfi area. The location of this beautiful home can not be topped and the views from the hilltop location are amazing. It was a bit tricky for us to find but totally worth it. We did not want to leave. The home is very well appointed and the beds are very comfortable and the area quiet. There are many little extras, such as a screen on the bedroom window, that were very much appreciated. There are several local restaurants close by that were wonderful. We really felt like we were able to experience the true Italy. The drive to the coast was very reasonable. Unfortunately Grandma Rita was not there when we were there but the neighbor was delightful and very, very helpful. The owner is also extraordinarily helpful and guided us to several great places. You can tell that he takes great care and pride in his home. You are able to access several scenic walks right out your back door. This home was one of the highlights of our month in Italy. Highly, highly recommend!!

Magical

What a great experience. We stayed two weeks and were met by owner and neighbors with wine, cheese, fruit and bread on our late afternoon arrival on a Sunday. They then had the chef from a local resturant pick us up to take us to dinner. Home is as advertised. Very lovingly decorated and maintained. Everyday people in this charming village treated us one of their own. Neither of us spoke Italian and I speak poor Spanish but that did not stop the conversation. As a side for those of you on a long stay like us and driving highly recommed NaviItalian. Best $7 I ever spent on a GPS programme on my Ipad. Saved our lives. Also, this is the second long stay we have done and wish we had brougt some DVD's from home for the nights we didn't go out. Only so much news you can take. Again, highly recommed for location, mountain hiking, Vietri beach.

SIMPLY AMAZING PLACE TO BE!

Our recent trip to the quaint hillside town of Cava de' Terreni Italy was all that we had hoped for and more. Our rental home was recently renovated including a modern kitchen, bathrooms and a comfy, clean well kept living area. From the "floating" staircase, to the exquisite sliding glass doors, no expense was spared on renovations. We especially loved the mornings on the terrace off the master bedroom! The view of green forested mountains towering above and a one thousand year old monastery nestled below were amazing! From this convenient location we were able to take day trips to the scenic Amalfi coast, Pompeii, Capri and surrounding area. The "small town" feeling of Corpo di' Cava offers a wonderful opportunity to mingle with the locals. There is a rather steep cobble stone path leading to several restaurants further up the mountain not too far from "home". The views and great food made the walk more than worthwhild. We especially loved the pizza! The owner's mother happened to be visiting next door during our stay and prepared one of her homemade Italian dishes for us one evening. It doesn't get any better than that! We highly recommend visiting Joseph's lovely home in this magical place. Should we ever have the chance to return, we would never consider staying anyplace else.

Truly authentic Italian family stay!

The 2 bedroom self catering apartment was perfect for our family of 4 (including 2 children, aged 14 and 11). Very comfortable apartment with breathtaking views of the Lattari mountains. The private roof terrace offered panoramic views as well as an outdoor shower. Corpo di Cava is a special town offering a truly Italian experience. Within 50 metres walking distance we enjoyed visiting the hotel (Scapolatiello) pool and restaurant with equally breathtaking views, a great coffee bar and gelateri and a local shop selling fresh bread, cheeses, meats and wine. Down the hill next to the 10th century monastery (Abbazia della Santissima Trinità) is a waterfall and wonderful walks into the mountains with freshwater and breathtaking views of the Amalfi coast and Cava di Tirreni. Corpo di Cava is perfectly situated to visit the Amalfi coast, Pompeii, Vesuvius and the sandy Cilento coast and Paestum- our favourite Lido being Molo Sirena, all within 50 minutes drive! We also travelled on the air conditioned, reliable trains from Cava di Tirreni to Vietri Sul Mare and Salerno (10 min, 2 stops) as parking was much easier in Tirreni in August. Highly recommend a day trip to Capri from Salerno (https://www.blumediterraneosas.com). Thank-you Joe for your hospitality and recommendations. We hope to return in the future.

Perfect Getaway

It will be hard to write about our experience at Corpa di Cava. A few words that come to mind are perfect, unforgettable, peaceful, beautiful... I will start with Joseph's home. The views from the balcony were unbelievable. Coffee on the deck in the morning and wine on the deck in the evening, Chimes from the monastery below and the birds singing made for such a peaceful stay. It was hard to leave. Close enough to hit all the tourist spots like Pompei and the Amalfi Coast but we were always happy to get back to this quiet little village. In the evenings we hiked up the hill and enjoyed wonderful meals and homemade wine and the stunning views. That experience was a highlight for us! We stopped by the local grocer each day for fresh olives and delicious cheese and bread which we took back to the patio to have with our wine. Our last night we had a lovely meal on the patio at the local hotel and again received such wonderful food and service. Our highlight was packing a lunch and hiking to the top of the mountain where we had the most magnificent views of the Med and all the coastal towns. My husband and I were the only two up there sitting having our lunch enjoying the view. If you want to have a true Italian experience then I would highly recommend you stay here. We can't wait to go back!!

Simply Wonderful in every way!!!

My wife and I stayed in this beautiful flat for 7 nights over the Christmas holiday and both agreed it was by far the best rental we have ever had, and we have been all over the world. First the medieval castle village sits high upon a picturesque mountain looking out at the sounding hills and valleys below. The beauty outside your windows is extraordinary. The small ancient streets give you the feel of being back in the 1500’s with all the touches, textures and smells but kept up as it was still 1500. This large two story flat has recently been renovated and it looks like no expense was spared with top quality, modern finishes in every room. The house was perfectly clean and inviting and the bed fairly comfortable. We had originally thought of staying on the Amalfi coast but for us this location was much better because we wanted to visit the City of Salerno, Pompeii, Paustum and Naples and the drive was much easier versus navigating the narrow , slow roads of the peninsula. Plus you are only 10 minutes away from the water and beach. Plus we were with the locals and got a much better feel for real neighborhoods and people. Joseph, the owner of the house, was extremely accommodating and helpful via email and phone from America where he lives. He leaves the care of the house to his neighbors, Gaetano and his wife Maria. These two people were beyond nice, they invited my wife and I over to their home for Christmas dinner and we had an amazing feast with their entire family. These are some of the nicest, giving people we have ever come across in our travels and we can now call them our friends. So do you think we liked this place? You bet. My wife and I have traveled around the world extensively and staying here was one of the most special experiences we have had. We give this rental our highest marks! Ciao

Medieval adventure for a family with teens, just one hour from Naples!

Magical home tucked in a quaint midevil town! Joe's home was the perfect jumping off spot for our tour of the Amalfi coast! We travel light with just small rolling bags, which made this adventure an easy one! Joe's place was perfectly central for us. In our rent a car it was just a 20 minute drive to Salerno. This brought us right to the legendary Amalfi Coast Drive where you could motor all the way to the tip of the Portofino peninsula through the coastal towns of Amalfi, and Portofino. We took a ferry ride to Portofino and drove to Amalfi. One day we drove an hour through littlle villages to Naples where we toured Herculaneum and Pompeii. Amazing!!!! Joe's home was so clean and tidy with very comfortable beds. I especially loved the beautiful Italian furniture throughout the home. The mountain breeze and the comfortable beds made for deep and restful sleeping. Plus there was a perfect sofa in the living room for another guest. Our two daughters loved the views of the mountain forest framed by two large sliding glass doors in the kitchen and in the master bedroom. Joe's recommendation for dinner, just a short drive or a nice walk up the hill, was just right for our family! Delicious pastas and a delightful treat of wild boar sausages were enjoyed. Try the homemade sangri with local stone fruit. Yum! On our last morning we took Joe's advice and enjoyed an amazing buffet breakfast at the four-star hotel right next-door. A full American style breakfast could be ordered on top of the incredible buffet. At 15 € a person, it was quite the bargain! Too soon it was time to depart. We packed up to make our drive to Rome ( just under 4 hours) with only one regret, we were unable to meet Joe's mother who had injured her foot and was not taking any visitors. We hope she gets well soon! Ciao, arrivederci Joe!!! All the best, The Laitas

Perfect Location!

We were a couple staying for 12 nights (we like space, so always go for a property which sleeps more than 2 people). The house was more difficult to access, both by car and on foot, than we’d anticipated. Be prepared to tackle the small lanes up the mountainside (recommend you take excess car hire insurance), and to climb up on foot from where you park every day (with shopping), and even more so up to the restaurants in Corpo de Cava (we hiked once and then drove up after that, especially after a day’s sightseeing in the heat)! The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is it did feel more like an Airbnb property than a dedicated holiday rental, compared to the many other Home Away properties we’ve rented. There was not much space for clothes (a few hangers but no chest-of-drawer space), little storage for food, and hardly any room at all in the freezer, which was full of bits of Joe’s food. Having said that, Joe was friendly, helpful and welcoming, and there were spectacular views from both terraces. The Benedictine Abbey below was absolutely beautiful, and we enjoyed the chiming of its bells. The bed upstairs was very comfortable, the showers were fine and we enjoyed using the BBQ grill on the upper terrace most evenings. The TV was a bonus, as was the dishwasher. It would have been helpful to have had some written instructions and perhaps comments/recommendations from other renters. We wondered why we had no hot water one morning, and eventually discovered we had inadvertently switched the boiler off thinking it was a light switch, and congratulated ourselves on fathoming out where to get rid of the rubbish and glass bottles, until we were disposing of our last load of rubbish when we left and were shouted at by a passing refuse lorry, to discover we’d been putting our rubbish in the clothes recycling for the previous 12 days! The house was in a perfect location for visiting all the sites we wanted to see - nothing was more than about 45 minutes away - Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius, Sorrento, Paestum (one of our favourites, being less touristy), Naples (which we did by train from Cava de Terreni), the Amalfi Coast, and we found some lovely beaches near Paestum. Overall we had a great holiday, but couldn’t quite give the property 5 stars.

Wonderful Stay Away From the Madding Crowds

We spent 6 evenings here in Joe's lovely 2-story apartment, contained within a larger home which houses his mother on the first and second floors. The property is as described and shown in the photos - a very beautifully remodeled residence, with incredible views of the Latteri mountains, particularly from the large terrace off the master bedroom. Joe is a thoughtful and accessible host who will ensure that all questions are answered and that you are well taken care of! A warm welcome was offered by charming neighbor Franca, who let us in and showed us around, and a welcome basket of wine, fruit juice, fruit and cookies was offered upon arrival. Immediately, we felt part of the small commune as we watched a wedding party from our terrace overlooking the 1,000 year old Benedictine abbey, waved at Franca and her 2 year old playing on a nearby terrace, and set our schedules by the abbey's quarter hour chimes. While initially we planned to spend time at the more well-known towns such as Amalfi, Positano and Ravello on the nearby Amalfi Coast, the beautifully relaxed pace of this home and its neighborhood made us shutter to think of braving the hordes. So we stayed closer to home, visiting Cetara and Vietri sur Mare (towns on the far east end of the Amalfi Coast, nearer to Salerno, quite beautiful but much less touristed). Day trips to Herculaneum and Pompeii were quite easy to navigate (though there were hordes there, and the weather was quite hot). A very special day was spent driving about an hour south to the Cilento coast, where we visited the ancient Greek city of Paestum and its 3 intact Greek temples. With very few tourists, it is especially lovely in early evening. If you go, plan to visit the water buffalo farms near Paestum, and have a meal focused on mozzarella products (we loved Barlotti, and had an amazing meal of ricotta quiche with green onions; smoked mozzarella; fresh mozzarella; ricotta timbales; and, from the garden, roasted zucchini and tomatoes; roasted eggplant and peppers; and spicy greens with garlic. With a glass of local wine and, for dessert, buffalo milk gelato or a pear-icy ricotta tart, the price was about $30/per person. Local agriturismo venues also abound in the Cilento area where you can have a farm-to table dinner with the host, who is often a farmer. The Cilento coast is sandier and warmer than the Amalfi coast, so plan to also rent umbrellas and loungers at a lido (we enjoyed Lido Cascada.
