The space
THE LOCATION
The location is far enough away from the city of Phoenix to feel remote, but it’s close enough to use as your basecamp for all the local activities and attractions.
The house offers a fenced pool in the lushly landscaped and walled backyard.
THE SPACE
Your retreat is a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home fully furnished with all the conveniences, The great room is a combination of kitchen, dining, and family room. There's tile throughout the living space and carpet in the bedrooms.
The large master retreat has a king sized bed. The front bedroom has a Queen bed, the third bedroom has a queen Murphy bed that can be stowed away to gain floor space. There is also a convertible chair that folds out into a single bed. Linens are provided. And If you have a need, there is also a twin size air mattress with an internal inflator/deflator. Linens are provided.
The kitchen provides all stainless steel appliances, gas range, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, hot water pot, toaster, Cuisinart airfryer, dishes and flatware, kitchen knives and utensils, bowls, bakeware, pots and pans. The basic spices are included. We provide coffee and tea. We have a variety of plastic glasses and plates that are to be used outside. Please NO GLASS outside.
If work invades your time, don’t fret, as you’ll be able to get online through the home's wifi and use the work space, a simple desk in the master bedroom. The living room TV is set to guest mode, so you’ll be able to log into your own streaming services to stay caught up with your shows. Guest mode deletes your account when you checkout.
THE OUTDOOR SPACE
Stepping out onto the covered patio, you’ll have a seating area along with a gas BBQ. Further out is a gazebo with a dining table and benches, and in the full sun is a semicircle sofa next to a cantilevered umbrella and a gas fire pit.
Beyond that is a fence with a top mounted gate latch. The littles in your group can’t reach the gate latch. Be sure to always use the pool with adult supervision.
UMBRELLAS:
Please collapse the umbrellas when it gets windy, and after you have stopped using them, and especially at night. It helps if you also tie the straps around the umbrella in its down position. The reason for this is that the desert winds can come up unexpectedly, and they can be very strong.
strong enough to destroy the umbrellas. We've actually had the umbrella in the Baja deck of the pool lift off, come out of the water and sail into a neighbors' yard.
POOL
Enjoy the pool generally from May thru October. It’s not heated, but hey “It’s the Desert, right ?” We provide towels. On the Baja deck, there is a socket for an umbrella, and room for 2 plastic Adirondack chairs.
Our pool has an 8 ft deep end. Please use caution when using the pool, and NO DIVING.
POOL HEATER / CHILLER
If you want to heat or chill the pool for your stay, that can be arranged in advance by contacting us and paying an extra charge of $25.00 per day for each day of your stay, plus the number of days in advance of your stay that you choose. Keep in mind that raising the temperature of a pool takes time depending on what the starting water temp is and what the ambient air temperature is, and whether its windy or not.
All of these factors will vary and that means the time needed to raise the water temp to comfortable (75- 85 degrees) will vary. If you choose to pay for the heater / chiller (YES it can cool the water as well as heat it) I will have my pool service person adjust the run time of the system to 24 hours per day and set the temp for 85 degrees. That will usually raise the water temp about 5 degrees per day. So, for example, in the spring and fall, if the starting temperature of the water is 60 degrees, you'd need to run the heater for at least 3 days before you want to swim. Generally, in the summer the heater is not needed at all, but perhaps you'd like to bring the water temperature down?? Well, that can happen as well. By prior arrangement and payment of the extra charge of $25.00 per day, I can have the pool service person set the temp to say, 80 degrees, and the chiller will try to lower the water temp and keep it at that setting.
Running the heater in the winter months when the starting temperature of the water is in the upper 40's, it has taken about 10 days before the water reached the 80-degree mark.
that's pretty cost prohibitive, and I don't recommend anyone to run the heater in the winter.

Why they chose this property
Of course in our travels we have had the pleasure of staying at various Airbnb locations ourselves. Having a comfortable place to stay near activities or events was so helpful that we decided to form Blue Door Properties LLC to share our Homes. Blue Door Retreat offers a desert home, backyard retreat & an awesome Tartesso community. There are parks, walking trails, tennis and basketball courts. During the hot months, May to Sept, there are splash pads in the neighborhood parks and in the main large park at the front entrance of Tartesso.
Food trucks are at our Sports Park nightly after 4pm and during cooler months we have a Farmer’s Market at the Sports Park on Sunday mornings.
