About this property

Charming 1914 Craftsman by CosiDesign

A 1914 charming Craftsman home offering a cozy and peaceful ambiance. The home features a large living and dining room filled with natural light and tasteful antique furniture. An open floor plan extends the ambiance from the living room into the dining room. The dining room has an antique sofa and period chandelier for the optimal dining room setting.

There are two bedrooms with a walk through bathroom. The space is warm, ideal for two people and comfortable with four. The master bedroom has a queen size comfortable pillowtop mattress with luxury linens, down comforter and bathrobes. The guest room has a full size bed with a memory foam mattress, luxury linens ,bathrobes and a 32” TV with streaming services Amazon Prime, Netflix and Acorn.

The kitchen is fully stocked and ready to support the preparation of a gourmet meal. Enjoy your gourmet meal on the front porch, a beautiful setting with a dining area framed by beautiful trees and flowers. The 'dining room' on the front porch provides the perfect spot for morning or evening dining.

Creating beautiful interior and exterior spaces is a passion of mine, and the gardens that surround this home delight the senses. Garden beds are planted with fruits, vegetables and herbs, and guests are encouraged to harvest from the garden.

The house is set back from an eclectic urban neighborhood and the space can be surprisingly quiet for being in the middle of this active area of Eugene. At times, you may hear music and or neighborhood festivities. When you are ready to explore the historic Whiteaker neighborhood, there are many appealing options for dining, sampling craft beers and wines or hearing music within walking distance.

A separate rental cottage is located behind the house, and both the house and cottage are private, noise-free spaces. Together, the house and cottage are comfortable for up to 7 people, and both are available as vacation rentals, if you are looking to host your family or friends for a special event or holiday.

Named for Oregon's first Governor, the historic Whiteaker is considered Eugene's most eclectic neighborhood. Entrepreneurs have established popular venues in this neighborhood to share their culinary, musical, brewing and wine making talents. Most recently, the Whiteaker has become identified as Eugene's brewery district. Recently earning accolades from Esquire magazine as one of America's best bars, Sam Bond's Garage is an iconic night spot showcasing regional musicians on an almost-nightly basis. The Whiteaker neighborhood is best for folks who have a tolerance for human diversity, and do not mind occasional interactions with transients. The neighborhood is safe, but a touch more exhilarating than typical surburbia.

A mix of commercial and residential establishments, enjoy the serenity of the Craftsman or walk in any direction to enjoy this creative and active neighborhood.

The gorgeous Willamette River is only a few blocks away and easily accessed by walking 10 minutes north of the Craftsman. Enjoy a run, bicycle ride or walk along this gorgeous river that runs through the town of Eugene.

Secret Garden stay

This was an absolutely marvelous stay. It was clean, comfortable, and liveable. Many house stays don't have great kitchenware, which can be difficult, as I like to cook and eat out. This also had great outdoor space, which was fun in spring.

Cozy and quiet

We just loved this property. An oasis in the city. Totally private with beautiful outdoor spaces. Beds super comfy. Charming decor and well outfitted kitchen. Easy access. Despite no assigned parking we never had trouble with that. Cute neighborhood with local eateries and close to Eugene hotspots.. Loved it!

Lovely home

Lovely old home. Bed very comfortable . Quiet neighborhood but limited food in walking distance. Main heater in the living room worked very well but bathroom was cold (note, we stayed on a very cold weekend).

Short stay for son’s competition at U of O

House is better than described: clean, quiet, cozy, with comfy beds. Located directly across from grocery and within a few minute walk of several restaurants. Easy access to highways. Communication with host was prompt and effective.

A Secluded Oasis in the City

We spent a long weekend at the Charming Craftsman and loved it. I booked the stay and my wife and 22 year old son weren’t convinced until we arrived and they fell in love. We were in walking distance of downtown, good restaurants and shops. We had no problem finding parking out front and utterly loved eating on the front patio after barbecuing on the grill in the backyard. It’s a small grill but was perfectly fine for the 3 of us. Eve has a beautiful home and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lovely Craftsman

Three sleeps in an impeccable, well appointed, antique home. Super comfy bed and linens. We enjoyed reading and playing cards on the front porch in the evenings. Remove shoes in the house, but don't recommend leaving them on the front porch overnight.) One block from groceries and gas. Would stay again when traveling to Eugene. Thank you!

Feels like Home...not like a rental!

When my husband and I entered Eve's lovely Craftsman home all our tension from the day's travels (three flights from central PA) vanished, and we immediately felt at home. The house is so comfortable, immaculately clean, quiet, and lovingly furnished. I always head to the kitchen first to check out the equipment and how well it's stocked, and was amazed at the quality and extensive assortment of items. High quality stainless steel pots and pans, big electric tea kettle, plenty of herbs, spices, and condiments, and a nice propane grill out back.We even picked some herbs and kale from the garden when making a big dinner third day for our son's new in-laws and grandmom. The location is fantastic. Plenty of nearby cafes, beer pubs, a Thai restaurant, Mexican restaurant, plus a handy grocery store in the next block! Eve is so friendly and helpful, and responded immediately to any questions we had. We will be returning to Eugene often, and will definitely stay here, or maybe in the cute little cottage Eve has out back. Thank you Eve for having such a lovely home available!!

Charming!

A lovely little home! We enjoyed our stay very much. I would have preferred a driveway to park in, but street parking was always available near the house. Overall, a great experience staying here and we won’t hesitate to book it again if we need to come back to Eugene.

Cozy One-Story On A Quiet Street

It was just perfect! I was the only one staying and I had the whole place to myself. A couple of things to bear in mind: 1) this is a two-bedroom, one bathroom all on one floor. The two bedrooms share the bathroom, so everyone who stays here will be sharing it. 2) the shower stall is very small, and a plus-sized person may find it very difficult to use. You will hear the sound of trains off in the distance at various hours, but I really didn’t mind. This lovely house is within walking distance of several restaurants and a grocery store, so everything you might need is very close.

This cottage is completely hidden from the street, giving one a wonderful sense of peace and privacy. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there. Wonderful Stay at Charming Craftsman!

Eve was so responsive to our questions prior to booking. She also followed up to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The Charming Craftsman has so much character. We loved sitting in the front porch in the mornings, and we enjoyed having an evening meal in the large back yard. The kitchen was fully equipped, and the beds were so comfy. Thank you, Eve!

About the host

Host profile image
Engaging, friendly host interested in people and creative endeavors. I spend my time running a local non-profit organization that protects and enhances land and water through collaborative processes, research, design and habitat restoration efforts. I also have a business in interior design, creating beautiful and comfortable living spaces for myself and others. I have established the gardens around the home to create a peaceful, beautiful setting with the hope of providing an oasis for guests to relax into and enjoy.

Why they chose this property

I love the architecture of the old homes in the Whiteaker neighborhood. There are a lot of trees that surround many of the homes in this area, creating a sense of nature among the architectural aesthetic I enjoy. The neighborhood is also lively with a mix of people from many facets of life, providing diversity and a sense of community.

What makes this property unique

Serene oasis very close to the excitement of the Whiteaker neighborhood. Walking distance to the beautiful Willamette River, many restaurants, breweries and wineries.
