About this property

The Film Shack: A Sweetwater Stay

Summary:
Located on the shore of Tully Pond, The Film Shack is a newly designed water front vacation home with breathtaking views of Tully Mountain. This 4-season home features four bedrooms, a screening room, a video game nook and a bonus guest cottage. The personal home of filmmakers Patti Moreno and Robert Patton-Spruill, it is decorated in the "Atomic Age" style. Maple floors, aviation, and cargo style furniture, stainless steel bathroom and kitchen with a wood stove for those chilly fall mornings.

The Space:
Enjoy your morning breakfast and stunning sunsets with Tully Mountain front and center. The master bedroom has a king size bed and en suite master bathroom. The sliding doors lead onto the large porch where you'll be spending lots of your time. There's a living room with sliding glass doors that give you the mountain view even inside. Off of the living room is the screening room complete with a 75 inch smart tv screen, surround sound and reclining theater seats and couch for 8. The kitchen has a 36" refrigerator and freezer, an electric stove and a dishwasher. Off of the kitchen there's a dining area I like to call the Cafe that seats 12. The wood shed is off of the dining room where you'll find wood for the wood stove located in the kitchen.

The rest of the living quarters are upstairs. There you'll find 3 bedrooms. One with a full size bed lined with vintage comic books, one with a bunk bed with full size beds and the ultimate kids room with twin bunk beds inspired by Star Wars. Off of the kids room is the video gaming room with a large flat screen tv, a ps4, several games and two gaming chairs. Bring your own console and enjoy!

Both the driveway and the upper parking area can accommodate at least 4 vehicles.

Outside on your way down to the pond there is an additional Adults only cabin with a queen size bed, tastefully adorned with 50's pin up art. There's an additional fee of $55 per night for it's use.

At the shore you'll be able to grill sit by the water, light a camp fire and enjoy the dock. Fish off the dock, practice yoga, sun bathe, or get in and swim. There's also a sandy area designed to launch the kayak and canoe. There's really so much to do right at the Film Shack, but if Tully mountain is calling you, take the 2 hour hike to the top and look down on the pond and the house!

Guest Access:
There are watercraft for guests usage. Tully Pond is a nature pond and is relatively shallow and weedy. The water is very clean, but for swimming enthusiasts we recommend visiting nearby Tully Lake.

The Neighborhood:
Start your day at the Film Shack by jumping into the supplied watercraft of your choice and watch the sunrise right on the water. Don’t forget the fishing rod and go after the big one (Must Have a Mass. State Fishing license) and then row back to shore and have your breakfast and coffee on the back deck overlooking Tully Mountain and the pond. Tully Pond has exceptionally clean water that can be weedy so it isn’t great for serious swimmers. Tully lake, which is run by the Army Corp. of Engineers, is a only three miles away and it has great beech and swimming areas.

Pack a lunch and head to the trails. The Tully Lake Recreational Area is minutes away. Highly rated for its hiking trails, fishing and boating. Hike the 4.6 mile highly rated Tully Lake Loop, year round. The trail is rated moderate and used for hiking and trail running. For more information check out google.

Tully Mountain Loop Trail is ac 1.6 mile, dog-friendly road, great for all skill levels. It’s perfect for hiking, trail running, and seeing wildlife. For more information visit
check out google.

A short drive away, at the Orange Mass airport, where you can skydive. So if you feel like jumping out of a plane, we got that too.

Not the outdoorsy type you say? Just 14 Miles north visit my family’s award-winning distillery New England Sweetwater Farm and Distillery, for a free tasting and a tour & enjoy a 15% discount on the purchase of our local spirits. There are amazing restaurants in nearby Greenfield, Ma and in Keene, NH that await you. In Keene we recommend Machina Kitchen and Art Bar for farm to table cuisine from award winning Chef Jordan Scott. Try a decadent brunch experience at the Gill Tavern in Gill Center. In Greenfield you can also find recreational Marijuana shops for your head, which you can enjoy outside at the cottage on the deck. Books, Art and curiosities intrigue you? Well visit the Montague Book Mill for used books and fine dining or go antiquing at shops that feel like more like museums of old New England curiosities. Visit the numerous farmers markets in the area and source, cook and grill yourself meals with the freshest local ingredients. Just a short walk or bike ride away is Nana’s Country Store with the best deli sandwiches in the world and the Boiler Room, Tully Village’s local pub. End your day pond side roasting marshmallows by the fire pit.

Getting Around:
Orange MA is not accessible by public transportation or ride share services typically. The closest commuter rail station is Wachusett station off of the Fitchburg line. The community has a vibrant walking culture and we recommend this healthy walk at all times of the year.

Interaction with Guests:
