About this property
Lovely medieval italian town house with exceptional views
Beautiful views, delicious food, in the centre of the Etruscan countryside in Italy between Rome and Florence. What more could you want in this lovely medieval hilltop town in Umbria. The perfect place for and artist or writer or cook to retreat. Two double bedrooms and two bathrooms, sitting room with balcony and a large kitchen with terraces and panoramic views and small terraced garden. House to rent for short or long lets.
Casa Meravigliosa is as it says is a "Marvellous House", sits on the top of a white truffle hill in a little medieval village equidistant from Rome and Florence. The house is newly renovated, but has kept all the charm of being several 100 years old. The owner is a chef so the kitchen is well equipped. The bedrooms all have their own bathrooms. There are balconies on all floors and a small terraced garden. There is easy parking which is unusual for an historic italian town. There are shops, cafés in the village and short walk down the hill to a couple of bistros/pizzerias so you don't have to have a car if you want to stay put and read, write and paint (the perfect place for an artist or writer). There is a train station nearby with direct trains to Rome and Florence which are just over an hour away.
There are thermal baths nearby in the historic town of San Casciano del Bagni, Orvieto is 20 minutes away where there are very good restaurants and a wonderful Duomo (cathedral). Umbria is well known for producing very good wine such as the sagrantino grape from Montefalco which is not far from the famous town Assisi where Saint Francis came from. There is a beautiful garden near Fabro called La Scarzuola where St.Francis is said to have levitated.
Its a 2 hours drive to the Mediterranean coast to Porto Ercole or San Sebastiano if you long for the sea, it is a nice day trip. There is a bicycle in the cellar which you can use if you want to explore at a slow pace. The walks are very pretty too!

About the host
Hosted by Anna Bonde

I am a self taught cook who has travelled the world to find experience. I have had three of my own restaurants (2 in London) and have worked together with Jamie Oliver in an Urban kitchen garden project, I was in his TV programme 'Jamie Does Stockholm', we have remained friends ever since. I am now a teacher in Sweden and use my spare time to come to my Marvellous House 'Casa Meravigliosa' to regenerate after a hard working term!
I love music and Italy has it in abundance with Jazz in Umbria and many open-air classical concerts during the summer. The culture and churches in Italy are what brought me here. I hope that those of you who come and stay in my little house will enjoy, food art and music as much as I do.
WELCOME

Why they chose this property
Fabro is a real Italian town with no foreigners/tourists (except for me!) It is fantastic to come to a place which is totally unspoilt and where the locals don't speak a word of English. The views from Fabro are exceptional and there is a castle in the middle of the village which is 900 years old and still standing! My little garden is full of fruit trees which guests can pick if they are there at the right time of year.
I dreamt one day that I would live in a house with views of Olive groves and vinyards, I have both!

What makes this property unique
If you like cooking, this little house is the place to come. My kitchen is fully equipped. There are lovely views to paint and I have a very good sound system if you want to listen to music.
