About this property
Gorgeous Pool + Gardens Steps from Beach--Ideal Family Getaway in Prime Location
** the 2 bedrooms on the main floor have A/C**
"Casa Bella, Playa Chiquita" is a perfect spot to relax with friends and family. Gorgeous pool and stunning gardens. Excellent restaurants and beaches just steps away.
Enhanced between stay cleaning protocols. Cleanings done by a professional cleaning company. Safe neighborhood, secure property!!!
** PRIVACY: We only book to one group at a time, so the casitas will remain empty if your group is smaller and you don't book those spaces.
** PRICING: When looking at your pricing breakdown in your quote you will see a base price which covers up to 4 people, and then additional guest fee if there are additional people in your group (there is a per person per day charge for all guests after the base price for 4 people. The VRBO site adds it up). The VRBO system also adds local taxes, and their own fees in this quote. If you are seeing the price with a 'C' before it, that indicates Canadian dollars. You can either change your search at the top right corner to only be in your own currency or use a conversion tool to convert to your chosen currency.
PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
Welcome to Casa Bella!!! Relax in the newly renovated Living/Dining area and watch toucans, sloths and blue butterflies in the one-acre private tropical gardens of Casa Bella.
Splash around in the 7 X 12 meter saltwater swimming pool. Lounge on the covered pool deck. Grill on the 40" gas BBQ.
Looking for unique activities? Ask about Salsa Lessons by the pool, unusual culinary experiences brought to you, chocolate spa treatments or chocolate making experiences, beach bonfires, kayaking or SUPing, night snorkeling, jungle hikes, waterfalls, tea ceremonies, breathwork/meditation/yoga by the pool... we can help plan your perfect vacation!
This recently built house combines the comforts of western living with the ease of the Caribbean indoor/outdoor style. Tropical hardwoods, beautiful design and modern amenities make Casa Bella an ideal destination.
From the airy and bright living room/dining room you enter the spacious modern kitchen, with its full-sized fridge, stove/oven and double sink. The kitchen comes equipped with cookware and dishware.
On the main floor there are two bedrooms with queen sized beds, private ensuite bathrooms with hot water showers, fans, and shelving for storing clothing .
Go up the external spiral staircase from the pool-side deck to a breezy loft that can be added to accommodate 2-5 more people. At the top of the loft's spiral stairs is a wide balcony where you can recline in a hammock and take in the canopy view. Inside the loft is an open living area with queen-sized bed, kitchenette, safe, fan, closet and three piece bathroom. There are also three single beds, perfect for kids.
Just across the pool from Casa Bella are Casita Bonita and Casita Sol.
Newly renovated! Casita Bonita (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) has a kitchen on the deck and two suites, each with a queen bed, a sitting area with a comfortable love seat and chair, wall sconces and overhead lighting, and a bathroom (sleeps 4).
Casita Sol has one bedroom (queen bed and single bed), one bathroom, a full kitchen, and hammock-strung second-story balcony (sleeps 3).
A tropical sanctuary, the lot at Casa Bella has fruit trees, flowering bushes, palm trees, ylang-ylang, open spaces and shady zones. We often have howler monkeys and sloths visiting, and if you look up you can catch a parrot or toucan party in our trees, or see the macaws flapping by.
The house is on both municipal and well water systems. Water is abundant and clean.
There is parking for up to 4 cars at the rear of the house.
From the lot is a 3 minute walk to the public access path to Playa Chiquita Beach, rated the best (and prettiest) beach on this coast! The path is another 2-3 minute walk down to the beach. Playa Chiquita Beach is sheltered by an off-shore reef making sections of it a kid-friendly place to swim. With series of sandy coves you can splash and swim, or wade and wallow in the coral fringed pools that decorate the points.
Centrally located in Playa Chiquita Village, near groceries and restaurants, Casa Bella is tucked away in its private spot a mere 1 minute walk from the main road.
We are at our house across the road at a nearby property and happy to help you find what you need in Playa Chiquita and beyond. We are very approachable and full of local knowledge.
Playa Chiquita is minutes from Puerto Viejo, Limon. People come here all year round to view wildlife and experience the Caribbean culture through music, food, and the colorful character of the region.
Playa Chiquita is a small village 5 km south of Puerto Viejo de Limon. We are famous for having the most beautiful and serene beaches on the coast. You can stroll down the coast in either direction all the way to Puerto Viejo, Manzanillo, and beyond along unpopulated stretches of beach.
El Duende Gourmet, the grocer 5 minutes walk from Casa Bella, is fully stocked with dry goods, dairy, meat, fresh produce, cold beer and a good selection of wine and liquor. Check out the fresh baked goods by the entrance. Bread, croissants, pan au chocolate, donuts, pita, strudels, pizzas, and empanandas delivered fresh daily!
There are 8+ restaurants in Playa Chiquita. Our favorites are Pura Gula, Gypsea Cafe and Lounge, and the two woodfire pizza restaurants! A little further down the coast toward Puerto Viejo is Spicy Coconut, a new favorite with excellent fusion food, great location on the beach, and fantastic service.
There are two bike rental shops, and on Saturdays and Wednesdays there is a fresh produce market, as well as a couple of pop up produce stands where local farmers sell their wares.

About the host
Hosted by Erinn Bell
We are from Canada where my husband was a carpenter/contractor. We have combined the endurance of Canadian building standards with the beauty of local tropical hardwoods and other artistic touches to create a house that is suited to the Carribean, comfortable, bright and clean. This project brought us to Costa Rica part time for a few years, but we fell in love with the area and now live here year-round.
One of the main reasons we've stayed is the food. Foodies of the world should be put on notice, this is a destination for all who love to eat! Some of my favourite meals: Chicken tacos (2x1 Tuesdays) and a super cold cerveza at Tasty Waves Cantina, Ceviche from Nema, Falafel Pita from Pita Bonita, Tenderloin in Green Peppercorn Sauce or sesame crusted tuna with sriracha mayo from Pura Gula, Cappuccino and Pumpkin Chocolate muffin from Caribbean's Coffee House, anything on the menu from Bread and Chocolate, the mediterranean sandwich at Como En Mi Casa, vegetarian eggs benny at Gypsea Cafe. That's just the international flavour...the local cusine you can experience at sodas like Selvin's , Tamara's, Miss Lidia's is phenomenal. Try a whole grilled red snapper with all the fixin's, chicken is caribbean sauce, or 'rondon' seafood soup. Wash it down with a mojito or a pinacolada and you'll know you're in paradise.

Why they chose this property
Playa Chiquita is a special place. International flavour blends here with an established local population to create a funky and colourful community - and it is a real community of friendly and creative people.
For us the beach is a real draw. Playa Chiquita beach is sheltered by an off-shore reef making it a kid-friendly place to swim. From a series of sandy coves to the coral fringed pools that decorate the points you have your choice: swim, snorkle, wade or wallow.
We like to walk the long lonely stretches of beach from here at Playa Chiquita to Manzanillo (2 hours), ending the day with a legendary seafood platter at Maxi's Restaurant.
When I first saw our lot I knew we'd hit the jackpot. Tall trees, lime trees, clusters of flowers and sunny open spaces make an ideal spot for birds, sloths and butterflies to drift, fly or hang about.
I feel most at home when I'm lounging on the deck, drinking my mojito with limes fresh from my trees and eating fresh cut salsa with wild cilantro picked from my own yard.

What makes this property unique
With 8+ restaurants/cafes, a grocery store, clothing store, yoga centre, Wednesday/Saturday farmers market, chocolate art cafe and bakery a flip flop away, Playa Chiquita is a small but vibrant village.
Our favorite restaurant is Gypsea Cafe...awesome fusion food and rum and homemade cola that is divine.
The road from here to Manzanillo (14km round trip) is so peaceful in the morning that we often go for runs, heading out before 7:00 so that we rarely even see a car. Boot camp or marathon training would be great goals to strive for here. The warm air keeps you loose and limber.
If you want external motivation for fitness there are yoga classes, swimming lessons for the kids, and a professional personal trainer or a salsa instructor, all happy to add you to their clientelle. Then you can end your day with on-site massage. We have it all on this little half-kilometre stretch of road!
