- We are nature lovers. Please respect the fauna and flora. No littering anywhere. Please respect our property as if it were your own.
There are several waterfalls hidden in the rain forest near the Villa. We own one of them ! Some of these waterfalls are an easy 35 to 45 minutes hike. Others can be reached after a challenging 3 to 3 1/2 hours hike through steep jungle terrain. If you are the adventurous type, love of the beaten track pure nature and are in good shape, let me know and I will hook you up with a tribal guide or take you there myself. You are in for a treat.
Secondly, if you are food lovers and appreciate super healthy and garden fresh organic gourmet meals, ask us about our Meal Plan. My wife Theresa is an amazing cook. Her cooking is all natural, fresh (no processed foods or restaurant shortcuts) and super flavorful. Her food has been featured in two national newspapers as well on TV.

About Herwig Gielen (Gilles)
Hi ! My name is Herwig but do call me Gilles. All my friends do. I'm a nature lover with an independent and adventurous spirit. I am Belgian. I used to travel extensively, came to the Philippines in '98, fell in love with the country and with Theresa -now my wife- and never left. Theresa is an amazing cook (very creative !) and she loves to bake as well. Her cheese cakes and cinnamon rolls are out of this world. We both love music, pristine nature and good food. We live in two places: we have a house in the city (Puerto Princesa) and a summer house on the West Coast of Palawan. It's here that you will find the best beaches as well as untouched rain forest. We like to move often between locations. We would love to share our private paradise with you. If you're an adventurous type, I will take you hiking on hunting trails of the indigenous people. We can go night fishing or we cross some rivers on a dirt bike. We can go bird watching in the rain forest or you can simply spend a morning in the privacy of your own beach. By the way, we grow our own veggies, herbs and spices (100% organic) and harvest fresh for every meal. Your eggs will be free range. We don't use processed food.
Why Herwig Gielen (Gilles) chose Puerto Princesa
We live in a part of Palawan that is exceptionally beautiful and as of yet totally untouched by mass tourism. Many of our neighbors are indigenous people (of the Tagbanua tribe). The Tagbanua still live very close to nature and possess a wealth of knowledge about plants from the forest, natural and spiritual healing and nature in general. Knowledge that has largely been lost in modern "civilised" society today.
What makes this Villa unique
Guests have access to their room (en suite), the bar, our open air dining area and kitchen, our pergola with comfy lounge chairs, our flower garden, our organic vegetable and spice garden, our view deck, the gym, our hidden dining area on the mountain slope, overlooking the forest and the beach below, various hammocks in breezy and nicely shaded areas, our gorgeous beach and lots and lots of privately owned land around the house.
