Red Roof Hilltop Cottage Overlooking Lake W/Extra Bunkhouse And Pet Friendly!

This house boasts knotty pine cathedral ceilings, 2 gathering/ living areas, a gas grill, and a large deck. There's a back door that opens to a fenced in yard for you four legged family members. The beach, fishing pier, playground, and boat access are steps away across the street at the end of the driveway. This house is not on the water side of street. It is on hilltop with views.

There are NO DOGS ALLOWED in the lake. PET FEES ADDED AT TIME OF RESERVATION - pls ask.

During your stay, walk into town for an ice-cream cone, home made pizza, groceries, or a drink and a meal at the local restaurant after a day on all sports Shingle Lake. For an adventurous day, explore the local skiing, golfing, zip lining, state hiking trails, canoeing, tubing, go carts, batting cages, put put golf, hunting and the area's ATV and ORV trails. For a more leisurely day try Clare County's antiquing, farmers' markets, multiple seasonal festivals, and the shops, bakeries, and driving tour of the area's Amish community.

Day trips include: Fruitfull Orchard/hayrides/25 mins., Mt. Pleasant water park/30 mins., Soaring Eagle Casino/30 mins., Houghton Lake/40 mins., Traverse City/1.5 hrs., Ludington Beach/Lake Michigan/1.75 hrs., Mackinaw City/Mackinaw Island/2 hrs.

We would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to get away but still have all the amenities of home. The birds in the yard, along with the squirrels, are quite entertaining. Nice lake a short walk away.

What a terrific getaway!

It was everything we pictured and more...and our dogs thought so, too! We had 4 nights, and we probably drove our car ONCE during that time; the cottage and Lake George had everything we needed to just relax and unwind. We hope we can make it an annual thing!

This cottage had everything needed. Very personalized for our fur baby. Very close to our event. Nice to have a fenced in yard for our dog when sitting out by fire and chilling. Communication was great. Would stay here again.

Peaceful and fun

This place was wonderful. Everything we could need for our stay and more. We really loved bird watching whie having breakfast out on the porch. Very quick walk to the lake beach which was clean and quiet perfect for a day spending in the sun. We truly felt at home. Perfect place to unplug and get away from it all. Jen was very responsive and proactive host. We will surely be back again.

Fun weekend getaway

Property is very quaint and in a great location. Out of the way, but not a far drive to do lots of fun things. Jen is a great property owner. She set up the house so cute to welcome us, our dogs and our CMU Chippewas. The personal touches made our trip that much better. Definitely recommend.

Wonderful getaway with our dogs

A great place to relax and unwind and not worry about anything. We loved having a fully fenced yard with the firepit. Having the lake just across the street was delightful and we enjoyed kayaking and relaxing on the beach. Of note, if you are gluten free, we recommend bringing most of your own food. Not many gluten free options locally.

Up North Trip

Had a good time up north! Jen does a great job welcoming you and your pet:). House is set up and ready with things you might forget to bring along like a blow dryer! Close to the beach, and Harrison and Clare are about a 20 min drive. Nice to have bird feeders around to watch out the windows! Us and our dog enjoyed our stay.

We had a great time! Everything you need is at the house. A/C is in both bedrooms but house can get a little warm. We rented a boat on George lake and had a blast. Nice deck and bbq grill. Jen the host was great and always available. The Depot had great pizza, large dollar store and bar/restaurant close by. We will book again!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

This house was the perfect weekend getaway. The house had everything we needed to make this weekend as relaxing as possible. It had a fully stocked kitchen, board games, tv with netflix, and wifi. We enjoyed some ice fishing on near by lakes and visited the town of Clare where we went to one of the best bakeries, Cops and Doughnuts. Jen was super friendly and very accommodating. We will definitely be making a trip back here.

New Family Tradition

This was the perfect setup for a family with younger kids and a dog. The cabin was adorable and had everything we needed. There were even treats for the kids and the dog when we arrived. Our girls (2&4) cried when we had to leave. They got to go fishing for the first time, and had their first big beach day. We are looking to make this a yearly, if not twice yearly trip. We had so much fun!

Weekend Bliss

If you love birds, there are feeders everywhere on this property, great area for your dog to run with 5' fence. Owner is so great making you feel at home. All the extras that you might need. Communication was amazing. Playground and beach within a block. State park within an hour with hiking trails etc . I liked it because we went in April and no one was at all the surrounding cabins. In the middle of summer it will be full of activity, enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful, relaxing vacation!

This property worked out amazingly well for us and our dog. The fenced-in back yard was a real blessing and there were quiet roads to walk on. The house itself was very relaxing - we mostly unplugged but the internet was good enough to stream a movie in the evening. Jennifer was the best host we've ever had - we felt so welcomed and her communication is great. We loved the lake which is just across the street from the house! The water was warm and perfect for kayaking and paddleboarding - easy put-ins from the beach and boating ramp, little motor boats, and not too windy. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful vacation with our Cousins.

We had a wonderful time at Jen's cottage. This was our first experience with a vacation rental and it was beyond our expectations. Jen was a attentive host and we appreciated the Anniversary cake and doggie welcome gifts. The cottage was comfortable and had every thing we needed for a week of good memories with our Cousins. During the week after school started, the lake was quiet and we had the beach mostly to our selves. The water was warm and refreshing in the record heat. We also appreciated the convince of the window AC and laundry. Thank you Jen for a wonderful vacation.

Red roof cottage

Loved this place. The owner is a very easy person to work with and does a great job of taking care of you and giving those personal touches. Notes everywhere to explain everything. Lots of stuff to keep you busy (boats, games, fire pit etc. I was surprised at how spacious it was inside. lots of room to play games etc. Quilts everywhere so you are always comfy. House is on a hill overlooking the lake. Park right across the street. Canoe on wheels so it was easy to get on the water. Plus tubes and a kayak. The separate little bunkhouse was perfect for a couple of the young folks. Overall it was a great experience.
