About this property

Trinity Hill Bed and Breakfast - Come Be Inspired

Trinity Hill Bed and Breakfast is an entire house rental in New Haven, MO. It is a circa 1887 one-story frame church built in the Gothic Revival style with a corner bell tower. There is one bedroom with a queen bed and a private sleeping area in the main room with a king canopy bed.

Over the years it served as a Baptist church, Lutheran Church and the town library. In 2018, hosts Ted and Erin purchased the unique property and converted it to a private residence. New oak flooring was installed in the former sanctuary and bedroom, and ceramic tile in the anteroom, kitchen, hallway and bathroom. The full kitchen in the former altar area features designer cabinets, granite counter tops, a gas stove in the center island, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. The 1,000 sq. ft. main room features six custom made lantern style chandeliers and six Gothic arched windows with amber stained glass. The ceramic tiled bathroom features a full-size walk-in shower. The private bedroom has a Queen bed. The décor features vintage style furnishings, an eclectic art collection and library. If you sing or play an instrument the acoustics are great.

Trinity Hill is on a corner lot in a historic residential area. Guests enter from the rear parking area through the side door into the mudroom. This door has a keypad lock. A code will be texted to the guest prior to their scheduled arrival time. The property is also wheelchair accessible from the parking area. There is outside seating, a charcoal BBQ and room to play. An adjoining parking lot is available for oversized vehicles.

The Missouri River and the Downtown Historic District are just blocks away where you will find unique shops and places to eat. Downtown is also home to Pinkney Bend Distillery and the Paddle Stop Brewery. The Old School Museum is in the same block as Trinity Hill B&B and private tours can be provided by your hosts. Robller Vineyard is just 2 miles away and there are several restaurants within one mile.

New Haven is in the middle of Missouri Wine Country. The award winning wineries of Hermann, MO are 15 miles to the west and the Augusta American Viticultural Area, the first wine region in America, is 20 miles to the east.

About the host

Host profile image
Ted and Erin moved to New Haven from St. Louis when they bought the white frame church building that had been the town library. Erin fell in love with the sweet little church and knew that Ted, who has a degree in Architecture and many years experience renovating old buildings, would be able to create her dream house. Ted and Erin had been friends for many years and got married in the "church house" in 2019.

One Christmas the church was on the New Haven Preservation Society''s Candlelight House Tour. 200 people visited the house. Many had attended church there when they were young and spoke fondly of the many special occasions that took place there. The response to the renovations was so positive that Erin started thinking about converting the church house to a Bed and Breakfast Inn where local residents could house out of town visitors and host family gatherings.

At that time the main room still had commercial style flourescent light fixtures. It took Ted almost 2 years to make the lantern chandeliers modeled after the original church light fixtures. There are 100 pieces of wood in each lantern plus the handmade iron inserts.

Erin works in PR for a local coffee company and roastery owned by her daughter and son-in-law. Breakfast at Trinity Hill includes complimentary pots of fresh roasted organic coffee.

Why they chose this property

Trinity Hill B&B is in a historic neighborhood in a small town. Taking a short walk heading south you pass the Old School built in 1893 that housed the New Haven Elementary School for over a century. It has two museums displaying the history of New Haven from the original Native Americans. There is a path just up the hill from the Old School that takes you over to Miller Street and wraps around the beautiful Assumption Catholic Church. As you walk down Maiden Lane back to Maupin you will come upon St. Peter's United Church of Christ with its magnificent stained glass windows. Most of the houses you pass on Maupin were built in the early 1900s. Many of them are undergoing renovations.

Taking Maupin downhill toward the river will take you past lovely homes and the Central Hotel. The Thurman Park Scenic River Overlook is on Wall Street where Maupin ends. There is a swing overlooking the historic downtown area and steps (62 of them) leading all the way down to the shops and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

It is a very large space. You could practice your ballet if you wanted. The acoustics are great. The very high ceilings and wide open space makes you feel like anything is possible. We hope you will find a sense of peace in this place.
