About this property
Hot tub, dog friendly cabin w/ great views
Bring your dogs and relax in the hot tub at the Mountain Bluebird, an historic and adorable cabin minutes from Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park (permit #3408). Built in 1935, this gorgeous 600-s/f bungalow offers a cute yard, great mountain views, and an expansive wraparound deck so you can grill, dine and relax at any time of day. 5 mins to town, 10 mins to the National Park.
- Gas stove for cozy winter evenings
- Fastest Internet in Estes (1gig fiber)
Perfect basecamp for up to 6.
Real quick -- house rules:
- No loud noises outside or in the hot tub - we have neighbors and it's so so important that they are respected.
- Check in is 4pm or later; check out is 10am or earlier. Our cleaners can't accommodate exceptions because they never know what condition other vacation homes left in.
- No smoking inside or out, no outdoor fire pits, no parties
- Pets can't be left unattended
- Guests must do dishes on checkout (we have negotiated a lower cleaning fee based on this) and start a load of towels in the wash.
Onward!
I am so excited to welcome you to Mountain Bluebird Cabin, a place I've called home for years. But now it's time for me to explore, so I've loaded up my Sprinter van and am going to spend the next chapter of my life touring the US. And that means my house is your house!
I love this place. Its bright blue makes me smile, its hot tub makes me relaxed, its gas stove makes me warm, and the views off the deck are just sublime. Mountain Bluebird is perched on the low flanks of Prospect Mountain, which is a huge open space home to bears, elk, deer, bobcat and more. You'll likely get to say hi to them as they pass through the yard while you drink your morning coffee.
Mountain Bluebird is a super efficient 600-square feet and was built in the mid-1930s. I've kept in in wonderful shape and have made numerous improvements. The deck is a great place for relaxing, yoga or dining, and the hot tub is the perfect place to chill (is that the right word for a hot tub?!) after a long day in Rocky Mountain National Park.
The neighborhood is wonderful -- downtown is about 5 minutes by car, and the best breweries, tacos and bowling are all in walking distance. As with all homes in Estes, you will want AWD or 4WD from May to October - remember that Estes Park is about 7,500 feet and we can get a fair amount of snow.
BEDROOMS
My home offers 2 bedrooms, each with a comfortable queen bed. There is a pullout sofa in the living room as well.
LIVING & ENTERTAINMENT
Living Room -The living room has a smart TV with streaming apps, a nice small Bose sound system, comfy couch, and toasty cast iron gas stove.
WiFi - My home has incredibly speedy wifi from the town's fiber initiative. It doesn't get any faster at 1gb, so you can be assured that you won't be interrupted while you stream, play or even work from home.
COOKING & LAUNDRY
Kitchen - The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need for meal prep and dining: pots, pans, dishes, cups, coffee gear, small appliances, etc. But I really suggest checking out all the fine dining in Estes, which has exploded in recent years. The nearby breweries have wonderful and frequent food trucks (tacos, BBQ, even one with a wood fired pizza oven), and there are lots of really great restaurants in Estes that have really raised the bar. I'll send a list of suggestions if you'd like!
Laundry - There is a full size stacked washer and dryer for your use in one of the bedroom closets.
Guests enjoy unfettered access to my home, including:
2 bedrooms with queen beds
1 bathroom
1 kitchen
1 dining/living area with a pullout sofa
Cast iron gas stove
Deck with its awesome views
Hot tub
Two private off street parking spots
I have turned my listing management over to The Wolf Rentals. You'll have an entire team of folks as your primary points of contact. I can be reached but they will probably be the first to respond! They are awesome!
This small home is in a quiet, residential neighborhood. If you want a peaceful, mountain retreat, this is a wonderful spot, though there are neighbors. If you want total seclusion you'll need to search about 30 minutes outside of Estes Park. If you are looking for a place to play loud music and party, this home is a bad fit.
In the summer, Estes Park has a lot of traffic in the downtown corridor. You can skip driving a still enjoy everything downtown by using the free shuttle to get around. It stops close to the house (a 10-minute walk). The closest stop is at Ziggi's Coffee. You can even take that shuttle into the National Park. The shuttle runs from early July to mid-September.
NOISE
Events, loud music and noises, and parties are strictly prohibited. Please be respectful of your noise levels. We use Minut (which you can read about on the Internet), which is a noise meter and anti-party device endorsed by AirBnB that alerts us to parties and noises loud enough to disturb neighbors. They only measure decibels and do not record sound.
FIRES & SMOKING
Estes Park nearly burned to the ground in 2020 after the two largest fires in Colorado history burned simultaneously within miles of the home. As a result, outdoor fire pits are now illegal at short term rentals. Also, no smoking inside or out.
NONPAYING GUESTS
Insurance requires that nonpaying and non-registered guests are not allowed on property. Your guest count must be correct. Note that in the town of Estes Park, INFANTS COUNT TOWARD THE MAXIMUM GUEST COUNT.
AIR CONDITIONER
Estes has a mild mountain climate in the summers but from time to time it can get hot. Like nearly every other home in town, there’s no A/C. The cool evening breeze will cool the home down quickly.
BEARS
Do NOT leave food in your car! Bears frequent this area and can break in!
MINUT
We use a Minut noise meter. It doesn't record audio, but instead monitors decibel levels, temperature and humidity. This is for the safety of guests & to protect the home. It also serves to warn us about parties & prevent noise complaints from neighbors. It's located on the cieling in the kitchen.
- No loud music or convos in the hot tub as we have neighbors!
