About this property
Quaint farmhouse with garden, big yard, river access- all near Middlebury, VT.
Watch the morning light from the rockers on the porch while enjoying your morning coffee. After breakfast, head out for a paddle on the Otter Creek River right across the street. Spend the afternoon lazing in the hammocks or exploring downtown Middlebury, Middlebury College Arts Center, or nearby towns Vergennes (home of lu.lu ice cream) and Bristol ("Gateway to the Green Mountains").
In the evening, barbecue on the porch, sit by the fire ring, or head to town to the many restaurants, theater offerings, movies, and music events the area offers. For a bigger-town vibe, head north to Burlington or south to Rutland and catch performances at the Paramount or Flynn, shop on Church Street, visit galleries with artisan goods and sample the myriad of locally made specialty foods.
At night, stare up into the sky to see the Milky Way and maybe even some shooting stars. In winter head off to ski at Mad River, Sugarbush, Killington (all about one hour away) or Middlebury Snow Bowl and the Rikert XC center (30 minutes) for both downhill and cross-country settings (now offering night skiing), then come home to nestle by the woodstove with hot cocoa and play a game with the family.
There is year-round hiking almost everywhere in this area, from the easy TAM (trail around Middlebury), Snake Mountain, as well as access to the Long Trail. Drive across the Lake Champlain Bridge to visit the lovely Adirondack towns of Ticonderoga, Westport, Lake Placid, and Essex.
