About this property

Wine Country, secluded Farmhouse and vineyard experience for the whole family.

Privacy at its best, near to wineries, yet you feel away from it all once you enter our private, secluded property. Great for families of all ages. Enter through private road with peach orchard and vegetable gardening on each side. And once you arrived, you can view the estate vineyard in its various stages of production. The property is located on 4 acres with great views in all directions. You take a step back in time as you find remnants of a by gone period, with an old cistern, and the iconic windmill both used as water sources in a different era. The front screened porch is guests' favorite spot for morning coffee. You can enjoy the serenity of the sunrise and watch for farm animals and deer grazing in the distance. Sunsets are best enjoyed out on the back patio, sitting by the outdoor fireplace on cooler days or listening to the waterfall on the warmer days.
The 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bath home with its original rock structure built in the 1890s, holds many of the characteristics of the original house with modern updates. The current owners have incorporated antique furnishings with modern furnishing to create a comfortable cozy house. Bedroom 1 downstairs has a king size bed with close proximity to full bath, shower/tub around the corner in hallway. Bedroom #2 upstairs, larger than bedroom #1 has a California king bed and a half bath but close access to the full bath, also upstairs, with walk in shower. Bedroom #3 upstairs encompasses the entire second floor of the original rock house resembles a large open dormitory room of yesteryear allowing for a lot of sleeping space. Bedroom #3 has a queen bed, 3 twin beds, great for kids or a 3rd couple.
Our detached garage has all you need for some family or group fun: a ping pong table, corn hole bags game, bikes and helmets for kids and just some space to hang out in in the event of inclement weather.
We also have an EV charger in the driveway to charge your electric vehicle. Ask owner how to enable the charger.
There are many attractions, almost 100 wineries within a 30 minute drive, shopping in Fredericksburg, antiquing in Johnson City, close to LBJ State Park, Old Tunnel State Park, for bat watching, Enchanted Rock State Park and Pedernales State Park for hiking, Albert Ice House and Luckenbach for evening entertainment and many, many more unique places.
And the greatest experience of the weekend could be a visit to the Rhinory, a mile away, owned by a family member! You will drive past it on your way to the house, at the intersection of Gellerman and Hwy 290. You will find the winery with great wine and a great experience for the youngsters. Be sure you stop in during your stay. Call for reservations on busy weekends and holidays.
Be sure to allow enough days to spent in the area. Most guest will admit they should have stayed longer.

Annual stay
We've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and just enjoyed getting away here. The fenced in property is the perfect place for kids to roam and nothing beats coffee on the front porch in the morning. We look forward to visiting every year. The owners are kind, thoughtful and responsive.

Cousins Trip to Fredericksburg
We planned our first girl cousin trip to Fredericksburg. We had a blast visiting all the wineries, eating good food and sitting outside making smore's at the fireplace. The property was so nice and peaceful and the house worked out great for the number in our party. We have decided our next cousin trip will be back to Fredericksburg and Stonewall.

In early 2015, my husband and I had the opportunity of acquiring this house. I have always dreamed and talked about wanting to run a B&B. Having just retired from teaching, this became my retirement project. I look forward to the unique experience this will afford me.

Why they chose this property

I grew up in a house similar to this one and have a deep admiration of old German rock houses. When I first saw this house, I told my husband "this feel so right for us." He agreed and the rest is history. Having been raised in this community, when I come back to this house it feels like I have come home. I love driving through the herd of sheep that sometimes line the road. I enjoy seeing the neighbor in his orchard and his garden. The serenity that I feel when I drive up to the house and see the deer grazing, is difficult to describe.

What makes this property unique

This house is so near to many attractions and yet, once you leave Hwy 290 you feel away from it all. The setting is serine with beautiful large Oak trees, an old rock house and the windmill that was once the primary source of household water. The peacefulness of sitting on the screened front porch and watching nature at it's best is priceless. I hope others enjoy this setting as much as we do.
