Fabulous apartment in Rome!

Location of apartment was in the center of everything...we walked out the door and walked to all the sights. A taxi stand is super close by if you do need one. The apartment itself was so comfortable with everything you could need. The patio has a million dollar view! We were so happy drinking wine outside on the patio! Just wonderful! Great restaurants and shops all around you. We have no negative comments! Loved it!

We'll be back!

The apartment is as described, and the photos are accurate. The beds are comfy. The kitchen is stocked with basic stuff such as oil, sugar, tea bags, good coffee ... this is so convenient not to buy everything at the beginning. We replaced what we used. The location is perfect - nice to have Piazza Navona right at your front door. The medieval streets and alleys, the many small restaurants, the little surprises around every corner was magic. If you walk just a bit away from the main touristy streets, you find an area where real people live - the old men playing cards on a small table, the girl in high heels with her cat on the bicycle, the women taking her dogs for a walk. The numerous restaurants make it almost difficult to choose where and what to eat next. I do not recommend the place that you walk into directly when you leave the alley in which the apartment is. We had one bad meal there. The waiter (his name is Constantine) is a real actor, sings songs when he serves you - then tries to swindle you with a wink and a smile! That's OK, it is Rome and you have to be vigilant, but the food was not nearly up to the standard of surrounding places (maybe it was just a bad night). The best gelato is to be found when you turn left and keep on walking for maybe 4 minutes, you pass various boutiques and restaurants, then a motorcycle repair place, then reach the gelato! After careful research we decided that the 'cookies and cream' was the best. There is a 3-legged dog that really loves gelato, he may make you feel so guilty for not sharing with him :) Things to note: do not be put off when you enter the building for the 1st time and things reek of decaying rubbish. They keep the bins in the entry hall, the 'aroma' also stays there. I think the apartment may work better for short people: tall persons may struggle in the shower and will have to watch their heads overall. When we were there it was high summer. Even with aircon the apartment was hot when the western sun beat against the windows. The place makes excellent use of every bit of space. But just know that, when the sleeper couch is down, you cannot reach the kettle. It never feels crowded, because it is so light and the windows are huge, but it may work better for one family than for two couples sharing. All in all, we had a lovely time in Roma, and I will gladly stay here again.

Perfect base amp for historic Rome

The apartment was clean, very well equipped, quiet and comfortable. The terrace is fabulous, great for mornings, with a view of the rising sun hitting St Peter’s dome. A caveat. This apartment exists on three levels, with unprotected drop off from the entry level into the kitchen/dining area, and both stairways without handrails. Not a problem for fit adults, but for the mobility challenged, and for toddlers, it’s a no go. We had good communication from the manager. We loved it, and would gladly rent again in a heartbeat on our next trip to Rome.

Great place to stay in the close to all the sites

I stayed in this flat with two teenagers. It was a little cozy for three, probably perfect for two, but we really loved it. The neighborhood has tons of great restaurants and getting settled was a snap. Alex was available to answer questions and we were off to see the sites and relax. I will definitely come back next time I am in Rome! Thanks Alex!

Great location, nice place

It isn’t a large space, but it was perfectly sized for us as a couple. Right next to the Piazza Navona and some nice restaurants. We would stay here again.

Location, Location, Location!!!! Oh and balcony views overlooking Rome don't hurt

This place is sitting in the perfect spot of Rome. Well-kept apartment, has all the amenities you could need - small apartment but is expected in the very center of the city! If you want a convenient location within walking distance of nearly all of Rome's greatest attractions - this is it! The balcony view during a sunset overlooking the St. Peter's Basilica is worthy of a painting. Alex was easily accessible, and the arrival/departure was well-planned. Not one complaint! Thank you Alex!

A wonderful time and place to stay in Rome.

We had a wonderful stay. The location is superb, easily accessible everywhere you would like to go in Rome. The place is very clean and comfortable. It is very compactly and cleverly designed. While the kitchen is very small, it certainly met our needs. We would recommend it to friends going to Rome.

Perfect way to enjoy peacefully the very historical centre of Rome

My Girlfriend and I had the perfect Christmas holiday time. I was visiting my parents for the festivities an it was my girlfriend first time in Rome. The apartment has been ideal under every angle: Size, level of finishing, breathtaking views, perfect tranquility, while being right in the very centre of town, with all the main attractions within walking distance. Indeed could not have been a more perfect choice. We can’t wait to come back for Easter!

Not quite what we expected.

The apartment is in a fantastic location. Alex was responsive when contacted. Mobility issues or not the layout is awkward! Photographer was very good at not showing that. I have been in tight boat cabins and felt less need to use my arms on the walls to keep safe. Towels and linens could use a refresh. The bed has a noticeable dip in the middle - couples beware. Couples who are ok crawling over each other to get in or out that is. A washing machine is tucked into the small closet in the bathroom. Sorry Alex the fact that there is no closet door does not make it a "walk in" closet. We did not attempt to use the washer so no comment as to it's workings. We did attempt to have a shower. We are both used to "wand on a hose" type arrangements. The wall mount being broken was a major inconvenience which the tiny tub and 3/4 length curtain made quite a bit worse. Careful ladies, the small cabinet in the bathroom was packed with too much stuff to use it ourselves so that meant using the bureau top in the bedroom. Tall persons or not the stairs are an issue. The cabinet at the top makes the already tricky transition/corner that much more of an obstacle course. The other reviewers comments about no railings and wine consumption should definitely be heeded. Have no idea why there are additional "property management" fees as well as cleaning fees - other than to jack the price after attracting viewers with a lower advertised "per night" amount. Bad form. Alex if you require a very specific check in time so as to not inconvenience the housekeeper's schedule perhaps consider putting the requirement in the ad. It could save you the effort of repeatedly emailing vacationing travelers who are not checking email. We were not expecting the Savoie. We loved our first time in Rome. Wish we could say the same about the apartment.

Great Value

Overall, it's a great property for the price point. There are many positives, but a few drawbacks. Alex, the host, was responsive and accommodating. Pros: excellent location, great private terrace with nice views, it's generally quiet inside the apartment, the furnishings (kitchen, bedding etc.) are adequate and the place was clean Cons: no proper standing shower (tub and handheld sprayer), the apartment is generally a little cramped (I'm 6" even and I bumped my head a few times...ducking often was required - you'd have a lot of trouble if you were taller than I), and the bedding and towels could use an upgrade (nothing seriously wrong with them - they're just rather basic and a bit old) We had a nice stay overall.

Delightful Place!

Rome is such a stunning city and this is the perfect perch from which to explore and experience everything it has to offer. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, you don't quite retreat to a cozy space (and it is cozy), rather you rest calmly above it all enjoying it from a different perspective. The location is so central and convenient. I can't wait to return. In the meantime, I have some priceless memories!

ORIGINAL / CUTE / QUIRKY

First, the plusses: Alex is great to work with..quick replies and very understanding and accommodating LOCATION is fantastic, enough said! Internet is strong...a must in my book! Loved the view from the deck, and the bells ringing on Sunday morning!! The A/C unit in the bedroom is fantastic! All furnishings are more than adequate...but remember, this is not a huge apartment. Possible downsides... The building elevator is the definition of quirky...enough said.. Remember it's a galley style kitchen...tight quarters both sets of stairs can be tricky if you're over 65 and not in shape (no hand-rails) I'm not a fan of hand held showers...but that's just me.. All in all, I loved my stay here and thank Alex for all his help!!

Perfect spot in an always amazing city

A great apartment for both newcomers to Rome and those who have loved the city for years. Location is wonderful, within walking distance of many sights (the Pantheon, Vatican, Piazza Navona, even Trastevere) and near to many reasonably priced restaurants (Mimi e Coco around the corner, for example). 20-25 minute walk to Colosseo metro stop (and/or a taxi stand nearby, as well). The apartment itself has an interesting three-level design and is well-equipped and comfortable (excellent wifi, for example) -- with a glorious balcony for enjoying a fifth-floor view (in a building with an elevator to get you to that fifth floor!).

Comfort and Location

We stayed six nights in this comfortable and very well-located apartment in the Campo di Fiori/Navona area of Rome. The Historical Center, the Travestere, and the Jewish ghetto are easily reached on foot. For longer journeys, a taxi stand is conveniently located within a block or so of the apartment. The apartment is on the fifth floor (there is a lift), well above the street noise. The only sounds we really heard were the calling of the seagulls and Sunday mass softly wafting over from St. Peter's. The terrace is a nice feature that offers a panoramic view across Rome's rooftops and brings light and openess to the small apartment. A sweet and fluffy Burrmese (?) cat from the apartment below may choose to grace you with her presence. After two weeks of travel, we really appreciated the washing machine. (No dryer, but clothes line-dry quickly on the breezy terrace.) The owner states in the description that the apartment is not suitable for very young children, the elderly and anyone with a mobility issue,. I would like to add that anyone having a glass of wine too many may also be at risk! The apartment is cleverly laid out on three levels, but with no handrails or barriers to prevent tumbles. I gave this four stars because the apartment no longer looks exactly like the photos. It has obviously been through a lot a renters and could do with a serious re-fresh. For example: the white sofa in the kitchen area has been replaced with a less spiffy but more serviceable green one; the handsome cushioned lounge chairs on the terrace are nowhere to be found; the window coverings have come detached from their fasteners; the nice white upholstered chairs are somewhat spotted; it would be nice to have newer, matching towels. Last but not least, it was off-putting to find a half-eaten container of ice-cream in the freezer. In spite of these criticisms, let me conclude by saying that we had a very comfortable (forgot to mention the very comfortable bed!) and happy stay. The excellent location makes this worth consideration.

Perfect location, lovely view

I stayed two weeks in this apartment and loved it. The view out the patio was one reason I booked this flat and it was well worth it. You can watch the sunset and the lights on nearby cathedrals come on while relaxing in the overstuffed chair. Near the end of my stay the weather was warm enough to enjoy some time out on the patio. The other main reason I selected this flat is for the location, and that was outstanding, too. Literally twenty steps from the outside door you are on a wonderful street lined with restaurants, bars, bookshops, a gelato shop, everything you could want. I really enjoyed walking along it in the evening when it was all lit up. The apartment stayed surprisingly quiet given that it was so close to all these businesses. If you walk a block away, you get to a taxi stand where you can always find a taxi waiting (unless there's a strike!). A block a slightly different direction and you are in Piazza Navona where you can have lots of free space to stroll both day and night, enjoy the fountains, go inside the beautiful church, and eat at one of the outdoor cafes. Go a couple blocks south and you will find Campo di Fiori, a fun outdoor market open every day with fresh produce, hats, scarves, handbags, spices, cheese, olive oil, souvenirs. There are also restaurants, bakeries, and offshoot streets with shopping. Alex made it easy for me to check in and out of the flat, and everything was clean and as advertised. I was able to keep the place at a comfortable temperature for myself with the wall unit in the bedroom and the space heater downstairs. I was very happy to see a Nespresso machine there, and immediately visited the Nespresso shop near the Spanish Steps to buy coffee pods. The only additional thing I wished the flat had was a microwave oven for reheating things. The kitchen is very small but I still managed to do a fair amount of cooking. This is a great place for able adults. It is not appropriate for children (too many places they can easily fall and hit their heads) or for people with mobility issues (stairs to kitchen, bedroom/bathroom). For me, the bed and pillows were uncomfortable - very hard. I think others would find them just fine. It is an easy walk to the Vatican, the Trastevere area, Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps, Colosseum. Also, I took a pasta making class that was very fun and was only a block away from the flat. Summary: Wonderful location, gorgeous view!

Home away from Home

Thank you Alex, for allowing us to use your home for our Rome "Home away from home". The apartment is very centrally situated, on a very quiet narrow street, in a historical setting. We spent 9 days there - daily walking to all the various sites that a tourist wants to see - and many that tourists don't get to see! We purchased fresh fruit, yogurt, cheese etc at the nearby market for breakfasts in the apartment. At the end of the day, on returning home, close to the front door are welcoming restaurants/cafes/wine bars (special mention to Cantina and Cuccino, and Mimi e Coco.) Unfortunately for us it was too cold to make use of the outdoor space at the apartment, however the wall of glass allowed us to take in the beautiful view, with St Peter's Basillica dome in the distance, from inside. The one problem we had, the power went out, we were quickly able to contact Alex by phone and the problem was quickly rectified by a neighbour who came to our aid. Thanks again Alex, I would not hesitate to recommend the apartment, and would happily stay there again. Elizabeth
