I grew up just 7 miles down Leer Rd from the cabin and never really noticed this place growing up. I went into the military right out of high school and ended up living in Oklahoma. Through the years when we would visit family each summer we would leave and talk about finding some property that we could build a summer home. Once we saw this place with the land, we knew this is what we were looking for.

Why they chose this property

It was my Brother who told me this property was available When you walk the trails and see the beauty of this land you will know why it was, in that instant that I knew this was a place we wanted to stay each year when I "come home". That fall when I walked the property it was past the time of fall colors, but I could see the summertime beauty everywhere I turned. Listening to the water cascade over the old Grist Mill Dam is hypnotic. Seeing some of Northern Michigan's largest and oldest Hemlock Tree's whistling in the wind adds to the serenity of this property. When I pull into the drive each time I visit, I realize the 17 hour drive was worth it.

What makes this property unique

If you are looking for a vacation that the only thing you have to do is relax, then this is the place for you. Sitting on one of the 3 decks over looking the Thunder Bay River and Mill Pond, you can listen the birds for as long as you like. If you like to fish, the river and pond will provide a mixture of Northern pike, Bass and pan fish. If you enjoy swimming you can do that also, either out by the deck or down by the mill. There is a canoe and a paddle boat to enjoy the river and pond. You can walk the nearly two miles of trails through acres of beautiful Northern Michigan hardwood forest. Or you can take a nap in the hammock. In the evening you can start a fire in the pit, sit on the swing and watch one of the most beautiful sunsets you will see anywhere. If you enjoy taking pictures, get up early and see if you can catch the local Eagles or possibly the family of Otters or Beavers. We have Canadian Geese nesting with us on the pond each year. Once you visit, you will understand why the words I have here cannot give justice to this wonderful land, and why when you visit you also will look forward to the next time you can visit.
