This 3000 sq foot home on the Rio Grande River is perfect for your large family or group. Sleeping up to 15 in beds. Space will never be an issue. Relax in the hot tub on the Rio Grande River with beautiful mountain views. Stroll out over the river on your private boardwalk. First bedroom has a king size bed, as well as, a twin bed with a flatscreen tv. Attached Master bathroom. Second bedroom has a King size bed and a flatscreen tv. Third bedroom has 2 queen/twin bunks and a flatscreen tv. A full bathroom is shared between bedroom 2 and 3. There is also a half bath. The upstairs loft offers 2 queen beds, pool table and sofa.Oversized 30' X 40' garage for winter and summer AtVs, Snowmobiles, Boats and of course your vehicles. No need to remove the two foot storm that dropped on your vehicle overnight.

Had an awesome time here. Pictures do not do it justice. It has been updated since these were taken. Only complaint is that the hot tub was not working. We did catch fish including a nice 16 inch brown. Saw deer on the hill on the other side of the river. Overall great pace to stay.

Loved the property. Loved the host. The power went out for nearly a whole day. The host re-located us to another vacant property until the power came back on. She was super accommodating to help us even though the power was not their fault !

Beauty of the Rio Grande and Mountains

We had a wonderful stay at the Elk River House!! It had such a beautiful view of the mountains and the Rio Hrande River was right out the back door. We enjoyed fishing in the river and the kiddos enjoyed the hot tub and making smores in the evening. It was so relaxing and the weather was so comfortable to sit out on the porch. We would definitely recommend a stay at the Elk River House!!

Great cabin for big ski group!

We stayed here with 3 adults and 4 kids. We had plenty of room! We loved the openness and the giant kitchen! The beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed the pool table. The hot tub had a malfunction just prior to our arrival but the property manager was very quick to respond and even came to the house to assess. The location for the ski mountain was perfect.....18 minutes! The house had everything we needed and we had such a wonderful time that we were not ready to leave!

Great House!

Elk River House is amazing! It is in a beautiful location right on the river. Very spacious and it worked out for all of us. The decor is spot on for the area and that staircase is a work of art! The kitchen and dinner room is spacious and fully equipped. We enjoyed sitting on the deck, relaxing in the hot tub and watching the river flow by. JoyceAnn is a great host and communication was flawless. Noticed that we were out of propane for the BBQ the first night and they ran over to make sure we could BBQ our steaks. I highly recommend booking this house! You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful home in beautiful location

The Elk River home served as our base for a week in the mountains. The house was very clean and spacious, with plenty of space for our group of six adults and four children. The deck over the river was our favorite spot to start the day with coffee and some wildlife. A buck greeted us one morning while getting a drink from the river. We cooked several meals and were impressed with the stocked kitchen. We needed very little besides the food. South Fork was a great, central location that made for easy day trips to Creede, Pagosa Springs, and even Durango. We found several close hiking areas that accommodated our wide age and ability range and made for some beautiful mountain photos. Rafting the Rio Grande with Mountain Man Tours was also a highlight, along with horseback riding at Cottonwood Cove. The owners were wonderful to work with and were responsive to all our questions. We can't wait to get back to the Elk River house and are already discussing a ski trip!

Very relaxing

We have stayed at this property several times and have always enjoyed. This time was no different except that the property definitely needs some maintenance. Dishwasher needs to be mounted, deck needs repair, window shade replaced and window in kitchen repaired. This really did not affect the quality of our stay but at $500+ a night I expect upkeep. I was impressed with new showers and the fire pit. The dog pen was a great addition as well. I also enjoyed the newly planted flower beds. The dog next door was annoying but I understand you have no control over that. Maybe the pooch will be moving because that property is up for sale. House heats up during the day but cools off enough to sleep at night but must keep the windows open. Kitchen was stocked well with utensils and cookware. Overal we really love this property it just needs some tlc on the outside and a few things on the inside. Also could use a good power wash on the outside. The hot tub wired fine but again could use a new cover and some maintenance to the surrounding box thing. We will stay there again.

Great location. Great neighborhood. Easy 20 minute drive to Wolf Creek Ski Resort. Easy 2 minute drive to ski rental shop. House was directly on the river. Very comfortable for our group. Thank you for sharing your house with us.

What you see is what you get

A amazing location on the river. Great space for hanging with family/friends. The place is not brand new or stocked with the latest the greatest but it’s a classic mountain retreat that is comfortable and convenient. Will return.

Beautiful Christmas

This is our second time staying at Elk House and we love it! The house is a perfect size and in the BEST location. We had a minor issue with the TV as soon as we arrived and Joyce I startle took care of us. She also checked on us regularly! Just some other minor issues that need to be fixed to make it over the top. We will definitely be back!

Family trip to South Fork

Although the showers have been updated, it was clear upon arrival that the house needs some attention and tender loving care! This was our third time to stay at the house and we were surprised and disappointed to see there were issues that had still not been resolved since our last visit in 2019. I’m not comfortable posting them all here but am sending a private message to the host. Despite our disappointment with the house, we enjoyed our time in beautiful South Fork.

This house was beautiful and spacious. My husband and I along with my son and my in laws a total of 15 people had plenty of room. The view of the river is amazing. If you meet our little chipmunk friend he likes sunflower seeds, peanuts, and trail mix. You can’t get a squirrel in Texas to trust you like that little chipmunk did. We recommend and would stay here again.

Park in the garage and the driveway and roads will be plowed for your trip to the slopes by 8:00 AM. Experienced management team maintains property and are available 24/7 should any issues arise. Hot Tub is well maintained. Nothing to worry about except to sit back and enjoy your vacation!!!
