A family gathering
My sisters and I spent a wonderful five days at the Reed Homestead. We are descendants of Philip Reed, who originally built the house in 1803. The home has been carefully restored, updated and beautifully furnished. The large back yard is well maintained and also beautiful. We enjoyed exploring the nearby towns, villages and many lakes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Reed Homestead.

AMAZING!
"A hidden gem" is how we referred to the Homestead during our stay. The property is immaculate and it is stocked with everything you could possibly need. Amy is phenomenal to work with! The extra personal touches were so thoughtful and made us all feel right at home. We were there for my daughter's engagement party and all of the guests just loved the atmosphere and the history of the house. The bedrooms are all gorgeous and so comfortable and cozy. It was the perfect spot for our special occasion!

Right out of a magazine!
It’s a beautiful picturesque home and land right out of a magazine! Love her touch of fresh flowers in every room when we got there. It was very clean. And loved shopping in the little store! Would love to rent it again!

A step back in time
We really loved this property and hated to leave. The homestead has a long history and sits out in the country in beautiful surroundings. The sunrises and sunsets were colorful. The geese honking in the fields were charming. And the skies, when clear, were full of stars. The bedrooms, all on the second floor, were large and comfortable. We did not use the elegant dining room but felt at home in the back of the house with its comfortable couch and chairs. The eclectic collection of decor throughout the house was most interesting, and it was fun to wander around the house looking at it. It was a very enjoyable stay, and we expect to be coming back real soon!

About the host

Hosted by Amy Linehan

Host profile image
Amy and Dan were recently married and live in Rochester. Amy lived in NYC for close to 20 years and moved back upstate in 2011 to be closer to family and enjoy the country life. Dan grew up in the Finger Lakes and has resided in Rochester for over 20 years. They love to entertain with family and friends and love the surrounding lakes and summers of upstate NY!

Why they chose this property

When Amy returned from NYC to the Finger Lakes, she happened upon this property and couldn't get it's charms out of her head. It reminded her of travels she had to Europe's country side of France and Italy. The rich history about the house adds to it's charm, and the tranquil beauty captures you immediately. The house was purchased in 2012, and carefully restored and renovated back to it's glory.
Afternoon lunches with a bottle of wine in the back garden, transport you to another world and is certainly enchanting. The evening sky bursts with the constellations which seem to go on forever.

We do often receive inquiries for guests to celebrate their wedding vows and or ceremony on the property....while we're honored with the inquiry to request such a special moment at our home, we do not permit weddings at the property no matter what size. We believe that a couples wedding is one of the most special days in their lives, and we do not have all the amenities to service a wedding. We do think the property is super special and invite guests to enjoy it as their home away from home while attending a nearby wedding. Bridal couples, wedding guests (up to 8) have enjoyed their stay with us to help make the wedding weekend extra special.

What makes this property unique

The house is private, with all the amenities needed to have an enjoyable stay.
